Broadcasting a smartphone screen to a large screen of a Xiaomi TV opens up new possibilities, from watching high-resolution movies to showing presentations or running mobile games on TV. However, not all users know that the methods of connection depend on the phone model, version of the phone. MIUI/Android, and from the television generation (e.g., Mi). TV 4S Miracast supports, and Mi supports. TV Q2 โ In this article, we will discuss all the current synchronization methods, including hidden settings and avoidance of typical errors.
It's important to understand that wireless (via Wi-Fi) and wired (via HDMI/USB-C) are fundamentally different: the former gives freedom of movement but can suffer from delays, the latter provides stability but tethers you to wires. We tested each method on Xiaomi Mi TV P1, Redmi Smart TV X and Mi TV A Pro โ the results are summarized in a comparative table below.
1. Wireless streaming via Miracast (for Android)
Miracast is a wireless screen standard built into most Xiaomi TVs (except budget models until 2020) that works without the Internet, creating direct communication between the phone and TV over Wi-Fi Direct.
- ๐ฑ On the phone: go to Settings โ Connections โ Wireless display (on Xiaomi the path may be different: Settings) โ Screen. โ Wireless monitor. If you don't have a point, your smartphone doesn't support Miracast.
- ๐บ On TV: Open Settings โ Connection and sharing โ Wireless display (Miracast) turn on the option.
Instructions for connection:
- On the phone, activate the Wireless display and wait for the device to be searched.
- In the list, select the name of your TV (e.g., MiTV-P1-1234).

2.Use of Google Cast (Chromecast built-in)
Xiaomi Android TVs (such as Mi TV Q1 or Mi TV ES 2022) have built-in support for Google Cast, a technology similar to Chromecast. It allows you not only to duplicate the screen, but also stream content from applications (YouTube, Netflix, Kinopoisk) directly to TV without broadcasting the entire desktop.
How to turn on:
- On the TV, go to Settings โ Devices and Accessories โ Cast and activate the option.
- On your phone, open an app that supports Cast (like YouTube) and tap on the broadcast icon (๐บ) top-right.
- Choose your TV from the list.
To fully duplicate the screen (not just content from apps), use the screen broadcast function in the Android notification curtain. Note: on some MIUI firmware, this option is hidden.

If Cast can't find the TV, restart the router and both devices, often by changing the Wi-Fi channel to 5 GHz (in router settings).
3. AirPlay for iPhone (and some Android)
Owners of iPhones or MacBooks can stream the screen to Xiaomi TVs via Apple's AirPlay protocol, but there are nuances:
- ๐ Supported TV models: Mi TV Q2 2023, Mi TV P1 2022 and newer (with Android firmware) TV 11+).
- ๐ฑ iPhone requires iOS 12 or higher.
- ๐ Television and phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network (2.4 or 5 GHz).

- On the TV, select the appropriate signal source (Source button on the remote).
Important points:
- ๐ Charging your phone while broadcasting: Some adapters have an extra port USB-C Connect the charger to avoid discharge.
- ๐ฎ Lag: When wired, the lag is minimal (10-30 ms), which is critical for gamers. For comparison, Miracast has a delay of 100-200 ms.

5. broadcast applications (ApowerMirror, TeamViewer)
If the built-in methods don't work, use third-party apps. They're useful for:
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Remote Telephone Control with TV (via TeamViewer).
- ๐ฎ Minimal latency game streaming (ApowerMirror or Scrcpy).
- ๐ฑ Broadcasts on older TVs without Miracast.
Recommended programmes:

- ๐ฆ Use Android. TV Box (e.g. Xiaomi Mi Box S) connected to TV via HDMI. Broadcast the screen to boxing via Google Cast.
- ๐ Buy a Chromecast or Fire TV Stick โ they support Miracast and Cast even on legacy TVs.
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Connect your phone to your PC via Scrcpy and your PC to your TV over HDMI.
For models without a Smart TV (such as Xiaomi Mi TV 3), the only option is wired connectivity via an HDMI โ AV adapter (RCA), but quality will be limited to 480p resolution.
