Faced with a problem when Xiaomi Redmi stubbornly does not want to “forget” a Bluetooth-connected headset, speaker or fitness bracelet? or the device connects automatically, interfering with other gadgets? In this article, you will find 3 proven ways to remove Bluetooth devices — from the standard settings menu to hidden MIUI functions. We will also examine why a smartphone may not see the “Delete” button, how to reset Bluetooth settings to factory ones and what to do if the device appears on the list again after a reboot.
The feature of MIUI firmware (even in the latest versions based on Android 13/14) is aggressive caching of connected gadgets. This means that simply pressing “Disable” does not always solve the problem – the smartphone can automatically restore connection the next time Bluetooth is turned on. Our instructions are relevant for all Redmi models (from Redmi Note 4 to Redmi Note 13 Pro+), as well as for the POCO and Mi lines based on MIUI.
Before you start deleting, make sure that the problem is not related to the device that is connected to it. TWS-Headphones (such as Redmi Buds 4 or Xiaomi AirDots) can automatically reconnect due to the Fast Pair feature in Android. In this case, additional configuration will be required - read about this in the section on hidden settings.
Method 1: Standard removal via Bluetooth menu
The most obvious method is to use the built-in MIUI settings, which is suitable for most devices, but may not work if:
- 🔄 The device was connected through MIUI Quick Share (formerly Mi Share).
- 🔒 Bluetooth Gadget Protected PIN-code or require confirmation on the device itself (e.g., Xiaomi Smart Band 8).
- 📱 The smartphone runs on custom firmware (for example, Pixel Experience or LineageOS).
To remove the device in a standard way:
- Open the settings (cog icon on the desktop).
- Go to Connections and Sharing → Bluetooth.
- Click on the name of the device you want to remove (e.g. Redmi Buds 3 Lite).
- In the window that opens, tap the basket icon (or the “Delete” / “Forget the device” button).
- Confirm the action in the dialog window.
Make sure the device is disconnected from other gadgets
Close all applications that use Bluetooth (Spotify, Mi Fit)
Reboot your smartphone if the “Delete” button is inactive
Check if the Invisible mode for other devices is enabled.

Important! If the Remove button is inactive (in gray), it could mean that the device is currently connected to another smartphone or is in pairing mode. Try turning off Bluetooth on all other gadgets and try again.
Method 2: Remove from “Developer Settings” (for stubborn devices)
If the standard method doesn't work, you'll have to use hidden settings, which is especially useful for devices that:
- 🔄 Automatically connect after rebooting the smartphone.
- 📵 Displayed in the list but not have the "Delete" button".
- 🔧 Were connected via Dual Audio (Simultaneous Playback on two devices).
Instructions:
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings → About Phone. Tap 7 times on MIUI Version (you will be notified "You're a developer!").

What to do if there is no Bluetooth settings item in the developer menu?
Critical feature MIUI 14+: after removing the device through the developer mode MAC-The address may remain in the cache of the system. To completely reset the data, after deleting, execute the command to the ADB:
adb shell pm clear com.android.bluetoothThis command will clear all stored Bluetooth data, including passwords and pairing settings.
Method 3: Reset Bluetooth settings to factory
If the first two methods didn't work, the radical solution is to completely reset the Bluetooth module, which will delete all stored devices, reset the Dual Audio and Fast Pair settings, and clear the cache of system services.
- 🔄 The smartphone connects to a non-existent device (the error "Device is not available").
- 📵 Bluetooth is constantly on its own.
- 🔧 The list shows "ghost" devices (for example, after firmware).
Resetting instructions:
- Open Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- In the search bar, enter Bluetooth and select Bluetooth Settings (system application).
- Click Warehouse → Clear the data and confirm the action.
- Go back to the app menu, find Bluetooth Share and clear its data as well.
- Reboot your smartphone.
💡
After resetting, Bluetooth may not work in the first 5-10 minutes. Give the system time to re-initialize the module. If the problem persists, try turning off the Auto Connection feature in the settings of each device separately.
⚠️ Note: Resetting Bluetooth settings will also delete all stored Wi-Fi Direct connections and Mi Share data.If you use these features, write down passwords in advance or back up through Settings → Additionally. → Backup and reset.
Table: Common mistakes and their solutions
| Mistake. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Remove button is inactive | The device is currently connected or in pairing mode | Turn off Bluetooth on all devices, restart your smartphone |
| The device appears again after removal | Fast Pair (Android) or MIUI Quick Share automatically restores the connection. | Turn off Fast Pair in Settings → Google → Devices and Sharing |
| No “Delete” button is visible in the developer menu | Outdated version of MIUI or custom firmware | Update the software or use it. ADB-command (see Method 2) |
| Bluetooth turns off on its own | Battery optimization for system applications activated | Add Bluetooth settings to exceptions: Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization |
| "Failure to remove the device" | The Bluetooth module cache is damaged | Clear the cache and data of the Bluetooth application (see Method 3) |
What if the device is not removed even after resetting?
In 1% of cases (usually on smartphones with custom firmware or after a failed update), a Bluetooth device can get stuck at the kernel level.
- Fastboot Flashing (complete cleaning of all partitions, including persist)
- Manual editing of the file /data/misc/bluedroid/bt_config.conf (requires root rights).
- Contact the service center (if the problem is hardware – for example, a Bluetooth module is damaged).
For flashing through Fastboot:
- Download the official firmware for your model from the Xiaomi Firmware website.
- Unpack the archive and launch the script flash_all.bat (Windows or flash_all.sh (Linux/Mac).
- Connect your smartphone in Fastboot mode (clip Volume down + Power when the phone is off).
💡
If you are not sure about your Fastboot skills, you should contact the service center. Incorrect firmware can lead to a "brick" (complete failure) of the device.
⚠️ Note: on some Redmi models (e.g. Redmi) K50 Gaming) after flashing it may require re-activation of Bluetooth via the engineering menu:
- Enter the dialer code: ##4636##.
- Select Phone Information → Bluetooth.
- Click Enable and wait for the module to initialize.
How to Prevent Automatic Connection in the Future
To avoid repeated problems with “stubborn” Bluetooth devices, follow these tips:
- 🔄 Turn off the Autoconnection function in the settings of each device after the first pairing.
- 📵 Use Invisible for other devices unless you plan on new connections.
- 🔧 Clean Bluetooth cache regularly through Settings → Warehouse → Cleaning (select System Cache").
- 📱 Update the firmware MIUI — In new versions, bugs with automatic connection are fixed.
For Xiaomi Mi Band or Redmi Watch devices, additionally:
- Open the Mi Fitness (or Zepp Life) app.
- Go to the device profile and select Disable.
- Remove the device through the app menu before being deleted via the smartphone’s Bluetooth settings.
