When a customer or loved one doesn’t make an important call to a smartphone and the subscriber hears a beep or reset, it’s often puzzling. Owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices may find themselves accidentally activating the blocking feature of unwanted contacts, forgetting it. MIUI and the new HyperOS have powerful built-in filtering tools that sometimes work too aggressively.
Reconnecting with a particular subscriber requires understanding where the list of banned numbers is stored, whether it’s a built-in security application, call settings, or even an operator’s SIM card, and in this article, we’ll take a look at all the possible solutions, from standard methods to hidden engineering menus.
Don't panic if you find yourself blacklisted by someone or you block the right person, the process of returning a number to the whitelist takes only a few minutes and does not require root rights or complex software, the main thing is to follow the algorithm of actions for your version of the firmware.
Verification of the built-in application Security
The most likely place to hide a lock is the system application Security, which controls most of the device's security features, including antivirus and call filter, and unlike the standard call menu, settings have a deeper priority and can override other settings.
To start, you need to find an icon on your desktop with a green or blue shield. After you start the application, you should scroll down to the section that is usually called "Antispam" or "Blocking". The interface may vary slightly depending on the regional version of the firmware (Global, China, EEA).
In the menu that opens, you should pay attention to (top right corner) or the bottom of the screen where the settings are located. You are interested in the item Blacklist or Blocked numbers. When you click on it, you will see a list of all contacts that have been blocked by the system or users.
⚠️ Note: If you delete a number from the list, make sure it is not marked as spam in the global database.Re-blocking can happen automatically on the next incoming call if the algorithms deem the number suspicious.
To remove the number, just click on it and select the option to delete or unlock. In some versions of the interface, it takes a long press on the contact to appear context menu. After the action, it is recommended to restart the device to apply the changes.

Check the Antispam section in the Security app periodically, as automatic database updates may add new numbers to the database without your knowledge.
Control of locking through the phone application
The second method of managing bans is directly in the application for making calls, which is faster, but the functionality can be limited depending on the model of your Xiaomi Mi or Redmi Note. Modern shells often hide these settings in the depths of the menu.
Open the standard Caller and find the menu icon, which usually looks like three dots or a gear. In the drop-down list, select Settings or Anti-spam. If you have a European version of the software installed, the path may look like Call Settings → Lock numbers.
This shows a list of blocked contacts, which is swiped left or edited, and it's important to note that this section often has a lock function for unknown numbers, which can be the reason why hidden calls are missed.

Sometimes the problem is not with the smartphone software, but with the carrier’s services. Operators provide network-level blacklist services that work independently of Xiaomi’s settings, in which case deleting the number through the phone’s menu will not work.
These locks are often used to control USSD-They are versatile and work on any device, whether it is a budget Redmi or flagship Xiaomi 13. Codes may vary depending on your operator (MTS, Beeline, MegaFon, Tele2 etc.).
Dial a command to view the list of blocked numbers. Often these are combinations of the form *110*771# or *110*77# (codes are given for example, check the current values with the operator). After receiving the list in the response SMS or on the screen, follow the instructions to unlock.

It's also worth checking the redirect settings, and sometimes users accidentally activate the forwarding of all incoming calls to voicemail or another number, which mimics the behavior of a blacklist.
Use of third-party applications and synchronization
Many users install additional number determinants, such as GetContact, NumBuster or Yandex, which may have their own lock databases that conflict with MIUI system settings.
If you use these programs, check their internal settings, and often after you delete a contact from your phone book, it stays on the blacklist of the detector application itself, and you need to go to the settings of each antivirus or determinant installed.
In the "Blacklist" or "Block" section inside a third-party application, find the desired number and delete it. It is also recommended to check the permissions of the application: it may take precedence over the system call and intercepts calls.
Why is the number back on the blacklist?
Syncing with a Google or Mi Account account can also play a role: If you deleted a number on one device but it was saved to the cloud as locked, it can come back when synced. Check the web version of contacts or cloud settings.
Resetting call settings and network settings
In cases where the reason for the lock is unclear and the number remains inaccessible, you can resort to resetting the call settings, which will return the call settings to factory values without affecting personal data, photos or applications.

Make sure the caller doesn't have a Hide Number label on the number if the lock is only for certain subscribers.Some Privacy Guard settings in MIUI can block hidden numbers.

Do Not Disturb and system spam filters are the most common reasons why a serviceable number is unavailable, although it is not on the blacklist.
Engineering menus and hidden commands
For advanced users, it is possible to check the lock statuses through the engineering menu, but using this tool requires caution, since changing the incorrect parameters can disrupt the communication module.
Type ##4636## in the call app. The test menu will open. Select Phone Information. You can see the network registration status and other technical data, but direct control of the blacklist is rare here.
More effective are reset redirect codes, which can solve the problem if the number is blocked due to network settings of the operator, for example, the code ##002# cancels all types of redirects.
