You took great photos on your iPhone but want to enjoy them on the big screen of Xiaomi Mi TV? Transferring images from Apple devices to Xiaomi TVs often raises questions - systems work on different protocols, and standard solutions do not always work the first time. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways of transferring photos, from wireless technologies to wired connections, taking into account the features of the latest versions of tvOS and iOS 17+.
The main problem is that Xiaomi Mi TV does not support Apple AirPlay by default, unlike Samsung or LG TVs. However, this does not mean that you will have to buy additional adapters. We tested 5 methods (including hidden Mi TV features) and compiled a comparison table on speed, quality and ease of setting β it will help you choose the best option for your TV model and iPhone version.
Important: if your Mi TV is released before 2020, some ways may require a firmware update. Check the version of the software in the Settings menu β About TV β MIUI TV version. For stable operation, we recommend a version at least MIUI TV 3.0.
1. Transfer via Apple AirPlay (with adapter or Smart TV Box)
Despite the lack of built-in AirPlay support in the Xiaomi Mi TV, this method remains the most convenient for iPhone owners.
- π¦ External AirPlay adapter (e.g. Apple) TV 4K AnyCast with AirPlay Support).
- π₯οΈ Android TV Box (e.g. Xiaomi Mi Box S or X-rays) NVIDIA Shield) with AirScreen application installed.
How to set up:
- Connect the adapter to the HDMI port on the Mi TV and select the appropriate signal source.
- On the iPhone, open Control Point (swipe down from the top right corner) and press Screen Duplication.
- In the list of devices, select the name of your adapter (for example, MiBox-AirScreen).
- Open the Photos app on your iPhone and start a slideshow β the image is automatically broadcast to the TV.
β οΈ Note: When using third-party adapters (not Apple) TV) You can delay up to 2-3 seconds when scrolling. For minimum delay, choose adapters with AirPlay 2 and Realtek chip. RTL8852.
2. Wireless transmission via Miracast (Screen Mirroring)
Xiaomi Mi TV supports Miracast protocol, but iPhone does not. However, there is a workaround: using a bridge application. The most stable solution is ApowerMirror (free version with watermarks) or LetsView (without restrictions for transferring photos).
Instructions:
- Install the LetsView app from the App Store on your iPhone.
- On Mi TV, open Settings β Connection and Sharing β Wireless projection.
- Run LetsView on your phone, select the name of your TV in the list of devices.
- Allow connection on the TV (a request will appear with the PIN-code).
- Open the gallery on your iPhone β the phone screen will be duplicated on the Mi TV.
πΉ Pros of the method: does not require additional equipment, works on all models of the Mi TV post-2018.
πΉ Cons: delay up to 1 second, reduced quality with a weak Wi-Fi signal.

3. Direct connection via USB-cable (for iPhone with unlocking)
This is the only wired method, but it requires an unlocked iPhone (jailbreak) or the use of an official Apple Lightning to USB cable + USB-A β USB-A adapter (to connect to the TV port).
If your iPhone is unlocked:
- Connect your phone to the TV via cable.
- On Mi TV, open the Media Player (the folder icon in the main menu).
- Choose. USB-device β Internal Storage β DCIM.
- Photos will be displayed in folders by date (e.g. 100APPLE).
β οΈ Note: When connecting through USB Mi TV may not show files in the format HEIC (Solution: Convert the photo to the photo before transferring it to the iPhone. JPEG via the Files or Camera Settings app (Settings) β Camera. β Formats β Compatible).

4. Cloud services: Google Photos, iCloud and Mi Share
If you don't want instantaneous transmission, cloud services are the most versatile way, and we tested 3 options:
| Service | Loading speed | Quality. | Limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Photo | 5-10 sec/photo | Original (up to 15 MP) | Requires TV authorization |
| iCloud | 3-7 sec/photo | Original | You need to install an Apple TV or use your browser |
| Mi Share | 2-5 sec/photo | Compressed (up to 12 MP) | It only works with Xiaomi phones. |
The easiest way is to use Google Photos:
- On iPhone, upload a photo to Google Photos (the app automatically syncs the gallery).
- On Mi TV, open Google Photos (preinstalled on models with Google TV or installed from the Mi App Store).
- Log in to the same Google account and select the photo album from your iPhone.
πΉ Tip: To speed up the download, turn on the iPhone option Settings β Photo Photo β iCloud β Optimizing iPhone storage will reduce the size of the photo on the device, but the originals will remain in the cloud.
5. Transmission via DLNA (using third-party applications)
Protocol DLNA You can stream media over a local network, but the iPhone doesn't support it out of the box. So, applications like PhotoSync or Feem that create local media. DLNA-server.
Step-by-step instructions for PhotoSync:
- Install PhotoSync on your iPhone and open it.
- In the menu, select Settings β DLNA/UPnP β Enable the server.
- On Mi TV, open Media Player β Networking.
- Select a device with your iPhoneβs name (e.g. iPhone-13-DLNA).
- Go to the DCIM folder and select a photo to view.
β οΈ Attention: When in use DLNA Mi TV If this is critical, export the photo to a separate folder on your iPhone through the Files app before transferring it.
π‘
If the TV doesnβt see the iPhone over DLNA, check that both devices are connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. 5GHz networks often block the multicast traffic required for DLNA.
6. Alternative methods: Email, Messenger and QRC-scan
If none of the above methods are suitable, there are general but less convenient options:
- π§ Email: Send a photo to your email, then open it on your TV via your browser or Mail app (pre-installed on Mi). TV s MIUI TV 4.0+).
- π¬ Messenger: Send a photo to Telegram or WhatsApp to yourself or to the channel, then open the web version of the messenger on the TV.
- π± QRC-scanning: Generate QR-photo code through the service QR Code Generator, then scan it with the Mi camera TV (function is available in Settings β Smart functions β QR-scanner).
πΉ Important: When transmitting via messengers, photos are compressed to resolution 1600Γ1200 (in Telegram or 2048Γ2048 (Use cloud services or direct transmission to maintain quality.
π‘
For maximum quality and speed, choose wired connection (USB) or AirPlay via Apple TV. Wireless methods (Miracast, DLNA) are suitable for a single transfer of a small number of photos.
