How to project the screen of Xiaomi phone on the TV: all the working ways

Do you want to show pictures from your vacation on the big screen, run a mobile game on your TV or give a presentation from your smartphone? Xiaomi screen projection on TV solves these tasks in minutes. But not all methods are equally convenient: somewhere you need to buy an adapter, and somewhere there are enough built-in MIUI features. In this article, current ways to take into account the features of Xiaomi, Redmi and other brands, as well as typical errors that interfere with the connection.

We tested all methods on Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 and Mi TV Q2 55, Redmi Smart TV X50. Instructions are universal for devices on MIUI 14/15 and Android 12-14, but taking into account the nuances: for example, on Xiaomi 2023+ TVs, Miracast works only through the proprietary phone screen app, and older models may require manual Wi-Fi Direct mode.

1. Wireless duplication via Miracast (without router)

This is the fastest way to do this if you have a Xiaomi or Redmi TV (2018 and later), Miracast's technology transmits images directly over Wi-Fi Direct, without depending on the Internet connection, and the main condition is that both devices support the function.

On smartphones, the Xiaomi Miracast is built into the system, but can hide under different names: "Wireless Display," "Screen Translation" or "Screen Mirroring." TV/Redmi TV The feature is called the “phone screen” and is located in the Quick Settings Panel.

• 📱 On the phone: open Settings → Connection and sharing → Screen broadcast (or "Wireless Display"). Enable device search.

2. Connection through HDMI-adapter (for stability and low latency)

If you need minimal latency (for example, to play games or watch movies in high definition), HDMI-Connection is the best choice. It's going to require an adapter. USB-C Micro-USB (depending on the phone model) HDMI.

Important: not all adapters support video output. For smartphones Xiaomi will do:

If you only need to stream videos from apps (like YouTube, Netflix, or Twitch), it’s more convenient to use Google Cast, which doesn’t duplicate the entire screen, but only transfers content from supported apps.

Advantages:

• 🎥 No video delay (unlike Miracast).
• 📱 The phone can be used for other tasks during the broadcast.
• 🔊 The sound is transmitted to the TV automatically.

How to set up:

1. Make sure your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. On Xiaomi TV, turn on Google Cast (in the Quick Settings Panel or Settings → Connect → Cast).
3. Open the app (for example, YouTube) → tap on the Cast icon (📺) → Choose your TV.

If the Cast icon is not active:

What you need:

How to connect:

1. Connect your phone to the TV with a cable.
2. On the TV, select the USB source.

Limitations of the method:
