Shift. SIM-Cards or a temporary lack of ability to answer calls often require incoming calls to be redirected to another number. In Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones, this process is quite flexible, but users often confuse two types of interfaces: Google Phone and Poco. MIUI Dialer: The specific path to the right settings depends on which “caller” is installed on your device, although the essence of the function remains unchanged.
Redirection is a network service that is operated by your mobile operator but activated through your phone's settings. This means that even if the smartphone is off or out of range, calls will go to the specified number if the service was activated in advance. It's important to understand that forwarding works at the carrier level, so it will function even when the battery is drained if it was turned on before it was turned off.
In this article, we will discuss in detail all available methods: from the use of hidden methods. USSD-commands to deep customization in the HyperOS shell menu and MIUI. You will learn to redirect calls quickly when you are busy, when you are not picking up, or when your phone is unavailable.
The main types of call forwarding
Before you start setting up, you need to clearly understand what kind of redirect scenario you need. Communication operators and smartphone interface offer several standard options, each of which solves specific user tasks.
The easiest option is unconditional forwarding, in which case all incoming calls are immediately sent to another number, without even giving your phone the chance to ring, which is ideal for situations where you are in an area without coverage or completely switch to another device.
More flexible settings allow you to filter status calls, for example, redirecting when you take a line will save you if you're talking to someone important, and the second caller tries to reach out. If you just ignore the call, the system will wait a certain time (usually 15-30 seconds) and switch the interlocutor to the specified number.
- 📞 Always: Translate all calls instantly without trying to connect to your number.
- ⏳ Employment: Translation only if the line is occupied by conversation or other activity.
- ⏰ Unanswered: Translation after a certain number of horns, if you did not pick up the phone.
- 🚫 Unavailable: Translation if the phone is off or offline.
⚠️ Note: When you activate a redirect to another operator's number (for example, from MTS to Beeline), additional tariffs may be charged according to the terms of your tariff plan.
Choosing the right type of redirect will help you avoid missing important calls or, conversely, not disturbing you at the wrong time. On the smartphone menu, these options are often called “Additional Settings” or “Call Management”.
Configure using the standard application “Phone” (Google Dialer)
Most of the current global versions of Xiaomi and Poco run on pure Android with the Google Phone app preinstalled. The interface here is minimalistic, but the reconfiguration functionality is hidden in the submenu.
To start, open the call app (green handset). In the upper right corner, click three vertical dots to open the context menu. Select Settings, then search for Call Accounts or Call forwarding.
☑️ Checking before setting up
The system will choose SIM-You can then see a list of four main modes (Always, Busy, Unanswered, Unavailable) and click on any of them and you will see the current status (usually "Do Not Redirect") and the field for entering the number.
Enter the number to be redirected to in an international format (starting with +7 or country code). Once entered, click "Enable." The system will send a request to the operator, and in a couple of seconds the status will change to "Redirect to number...".
- 📱 Google Phone provides stable operation without unnecessary visual effects.
- 🔄 Sync: Settings can be saved to your Google account when you change your device.
- ⚙️ Flexibility: the ability to quickly disable the function through the same menu.
If you can't find these settings, your carrier may not be able to control the phone's menu. USSD-codes discussed below.
Configuration in MIUI and HyperOS (Mi Dialer)
Owners of Chinese versions of smartphones or devices released for the CIS markets with MIUI firmware often use the Mi Dialer app, which is characterized by a more colorful design and integration with Xiaomi services.
The process starts in the same way: we open the Phone app (a green handset with the Mi logo), click on the gear settings in the upper right corner, and look for operator settings or call forwarding.
Mi Dialer allows you to see the status of each service in real time. If the forwarding is active, an indicator will be lit next to the point or a tick will be ticked. When choosing a specific type (for example, "Unanswered"), you can set a timeout - the time at which the call will be redirected.
Why can't the settings be opened?
It is important to note that in some versions of MIUI, the path may be slightly different: Settings → Applications → System Settings → Calls → Redirect. If the standard path does not work, try searching through a general search for settings by the word “redirect”.
- 🎨 Design: Mi Dialer has a more understandable status visualization.
- 🕒 Timer: Advanced Waiting Time Settings Before Translation.
- 📶 Two. SIM: handy switch between cards to adjust each separately.
Sometimes, after updating the firmware settings may be reset, it is recommended to double-check the relevance of the numbers after each major update to HyperOS.
Use of the USSD-code-control
The most reliable and versatile way that works on any phone, regardless of the Xiaomi model, Android version or internet availability is to use it. USSD-These are special commands that are dialed as a phone number.
To activate unconditional forwarding (all calls), dial 21*phone number # and press the call button. For example, 21*+79990000000#. The system will instantly give a message about successful activation.
If you want to configure forwarding only when the line is busy, use the code 67* number phone#. For a situation where you do not pick up, the command will be 61* number phone#. If the phone is off or offline, **62* phone number#.
| Type of forwarding | Activation code. | Shutdown code | Verification code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Always (unconditional) | **21*number# | ##21# | *#21# |
| Employment | **67*number# | ##67# | *#67# |
| No answer. | **61*number# | ##61# | *#61# |
| Unavailable. | **62* number # | ##62# | *#62# |
To disable any of the services, use the grille symbol at the beginning and end instead of an asterisk (e.g. ##21#). To completely cancel all types of redirects, there is a universal code ##002# immediately.
💡
Keep the universal cancellation code ##002# in your notes, which will help you quickly return calls to your number if you forgot to turn off redirects after your business trip.
USSD-codes are instant and do not require a mobile connection, and this is the fastest way to check if your number is left-handed, installed by fraudsters or you by mistake.
Management through third-party applications and services
While Xiaomi’s built-in tools and carrier codes cover 95 percent of the needs, there are scenarios that require smarter management, such as Google Play apps or carrier services.
Apps like Call Forwarding or Auto Forward allow you to create complex scenarios, like redirecting calls only from contacts in a particular group or at a specific time of day, but you have to remember that these apps have to work in the background and have permissions.
On Xiaomi smartphones with an aggressive MIUI energy saving system, you need to manually allow the application to auto-start. Go to Security → Permissions → Auto-start and activate the desired application. Without this, the system will kill the process, and the redirect will not work.
- 🤖 Automation: the ability to create schedules (only at night or on weekends).
- 📋 Filters: Smart Call Sorting Before Redirecting.
- 🔋 Energy: Third-party apps may consume more battery due to background work.
Also, many operators (MTS, Beeline, MegaFon, Tele2) allow you to manage redirects through their official applications or personal accounts on the site.
Frequent problems and their solution
Despite the simplicity of the feature, Xiaomi users often encounter errors, the most common being “Connection error” or “Call center failed” when trying to enable redirects through menus.
This usually means that the phone has a downed voicemail center number that controls the phone, and to fix this, you need to get the center number from the operator (usually a short number like the one you use). +79xxxxxxxxx) and put it in the call settings.
⚠️ Note: If you have changed carriers but left the old one SIM-card in the test phone, make sure that the redirect service is activated on this number. SIM-card.
Another problem is double call. Sometimes when you forward, the caller hears the beeps and then the beeps. This is normal, because you connect to your phone first and then switch, and you can reduce the latency by using the code *61*number*11*time#, where the time is specified in seconds (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30).
If nothing works, try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings → About Phone → Reset → Reset your Wi-Fi, mobile internet and Bluetooth settings. This won’t delete your data, but will update your network profiles.
