Xiaomiβs MIUI-based smartphones offer several ways to track call times, from a standard call log to hidden system features. However, many users find that this information is either hidden or incorrectly displayed after updates. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods for checking the duration of conversations on Redmi, POCO and Mi devices, including the 2020-2026 models.
It is important to understand that the functionality may vary depending on the version of MIUI (12, 13 or 14) and regional firmware (global, Chinese, European). For example, some builds display the default call time, while others require manual activation through settings. We will look at universal solutions that work on most devices, as well as alternative methods for cases where standard tools do not help.
1. Standard call log: where to look for conversation times
The most obvious way is to use the built-in Phone app, but there are nuances: in recent versions of MIUI, the call time can be hidden behind additional gestures or settings.
To see the duration:
- π± Open the Phone app (the tube icon on the home screen).
- π Go to the Journal tab (usually the second icon below).
- π Find the contact or number you want on the list and swipe left on the call record. In some firmware, the time will appear in the drop-down menu.
- βΉοΈ If the swipe didnβt work, click on the call record β details of the conversation (including duration) will appear on a separate screen.
In MIUI 14, the default call time is hidden in the log for global firmware, and to turn it on, you need to pinch any call record for 2 seconds, and a context menu will appear with the "Show Details" option.
π‘
If the log shows only the date, not the time, try updating the Phone app via Google Play.
MIUI settings: how to enable call time display
If the log doesn't show the duration of conversations, the problem may be the system settings. MIUI has a hidden option that manages this setting.
Instructions to insert:
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Find your phone in the list and tap it.
- Select permissions β additional β Display call times.
- Activate the switch (if you have it in your firmware).
β οΈ Note: In Chinese firmware (China) ROM) This item may not be available, in which case use alternative methods from the following sections.

3. Hidden call log: how to view the full statistics
MIUI maintains a hidden log of all calls, which stores extended information, including the exact duration, and can be accessed through an engineering menu or special commands.
Method 1: Through USSD-code
- Open the Phone app.
- Enter the code ##4636##
- In the menu that opens, select Phone Information β Call Statistics.
- Here will be a table with data for each conversation: number, date, duration in seconds.
Method 2: Through the Log File (for advanced users)
Call logs are stored in /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db.
- π§ Need root access or ADB.
- π Use a file manager with superuser rights (e.g., Root Explorer).
- π Open the file in the SQLite browser and find the call table β there will be a column of duration.

4. Call monitoring applications: top-3 decision
If standard methods don't work, third-party tools will come to the rescue, not only showing the time of conversations, but also keeping statistics, exporting data, and even blocking spam.
| Annex | Functions | Reference | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Call Meter 3G | Time and cost of calls, export to Excel | Google Play | It works without the Internet, supports tariffs |
| Call Logs Backup & Restore | Keeping your call history with time, backups | Google Play | Exports to CSV, recovery after dumping |
| Truecaller | Shows call times + spam identification | Google Play | Registration required, cloud backup |
β οΈ Warning: Call monitoring applications require permission to access the call log. Do not install utilities from unverified sources - this can lead to leakage of sensitive data.

5. How to check the call time for a specific contact
If you need to know the total duration of conversations with one subscriber (for example, for work reporting), you can do this without third-party applications.
Instructions:
- Open Contacts and find the right number.
- Tap on the contact, then select the Journal (or History) tab.
- At the top of the screen will be the line Total conversation time: XX min YY sec.
- If this line is not available, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Statistics.
In some firmware (e.g. MIUI 13 for POCO), this feature only works for contacts stored in the phone book. For unknown numbers, you will have to use methods from the previous sections.

General contact statistics are reset when cleaning the call log or resetting the phone to factory settings.
6.Call log export: how to save call data
If you need to save information about conversation times (for example, for reporting or personal archives), MIUI allows you to export the journal to a file.
Method 1: By standard means
- π± Open the phone. β Journal.
- π§ Click on three dots in the upper right corner β Settings β Exports of the magazine.
- π Choose the format (CSV or VCF) and confirm the export. The file will be saved in the Download folder.
Method 2: Through Google Drive (automatic backup)
- π Go to Settings. β Google β Backup.
- π± Make sure that the copying of the phone application data is enabled.
- π The call log will automatically sync with your Google account.
β οΈ Attention: In file CSV Call times are set in seconds in a separate duration column, and for convenience, you can open it to Excel and convert seconds to minutes using the formula. =A1/60.
7. Frequent problems and their solutions
Sometimes the call times are not displayed or reset, so let's look at the typical situations and how to fix them.
Problem 1: The journal does not show the duration.
- π Reboot your phone β itβs often a temporary bug MIUI.
- π± Update the Phone app via Google Play.
- π§ Reset the application settings: Settings β Annexes β Phone. β Warehouse β Clear the data (this will delete the log!).
Problem 2: After the MIUI update, the call time disappeared.
- π Check if the display settings have reset (see Section 2).
- π Retracement to the previous version MIUI (If the problem has occurred after the update).
- π² Use third-party applications (such as Call Logs Backup) to recover data.
Problem 3: Time is not displayed correctly (e.g. 0 seconds for long conversations).
- π This could be due to a modem error. 2G/3G and back: Settings β SIM-maps and mobile networks β Preferred type of network.
