Modern Xiaomi smartphones and Samsung TVs support several wireless and wired connections, but not all users know how to set them up correctly. This article will help you choose the best method depending on your tasks: streaming videos, playing games, duplicating screens or controlling TV from your phone.
We tested all the current ways of connecting on models Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 and TVs Samsung QLED QN90C (2023), Crystal UHD TU7000 (2020).
1. Connect via Smart View (Samsung) and Miracast
The most versatile way is to use Miracast technology, which is built into most Samsung TVs (since 2016) and Xiaomi smartphones based on MIUI 12+. On the Samsung side, this feature is called Smart View, and on Xiaomi – Wireless Display.
Advantages of the method:
- 🔄 No delay in watching videos (up to 60) FPS)
- 🎮 Support for game controllers (if the game is running on the phone)
- 🔌 No additional adapters or cables are required.
How to connect:
- On a Samsung TV, open Settings → General → Smart View (or Screen → Wireless Display on new models).
- On Xiaomi phone, go to Settings → Connections and Sharing → Wireless display.
- Select your TV from the list of available devices. Confirm the connection on both devices.
⚠️ Note: On Samsung TVs 2018-2019 release, the Smart View feature may work unstable with Android 13 phones+. In this case, update the TV firmware to the latest version via Settings. → Support → Update of the PO.
Connection via HDMI (wired method)
If you need the best picture quality (for example, to watch movies in the video game) 4K HDR or streaming games, use HDMI-Adapters are good for Xiaomi:

- 🔌 Universal adapters on the Realtek chip RTD2173 or moschip MCS9990
- 🔌 Dock stations with DisplayPort support (for Xiaomi models) 12/13/14 series)
Step-by-step:
- Connect the adapter to the USB-C port of the phone.
- Connect the adapter to the TV through HDMI-cable (use High-Speed) HDMI for 4K).
- On your phone, select the data mode: Settings → Screen → Output mode → Duplicate or Expand.

⚠️ Note: When connected via cheap adapters (< 500 ₽) In this case, check the audio output settings on the phone: → Sound. → Sound output → choose HDMI.
3. Connect via Google Cast (Chromecast)
If you need to stream a specific app (e.g. YouTube, Netflix, Twitch), use Google Cast technology.It works even on older Samsung TVs (2015+) if they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network with your phone.
How to set up:
- 📺 Make sure that the Google app is installed on the TV TV YouTube (available on the Samsung App Store).
- 📱 On Xiaomi, open a supported app (like YouTube) and tap on the Cast icon (📊).
- 🔗 Select your TV from the list. The broadcast will start automatically.

Connection via Samsung DeX (Desktop Mode)
Samsung DeX allows you to turn your TV into a full desktop by connecting your Xiaomi phone as a system unit, a method that is suitable for document work, photo editing or programming.
Important: Samsung DeX officially only supports Samsung smartphones, but there is a workaround for Xiaomi through the Second Screen or Scrcpy app (PC required).
Alternative method (without PC):
- Install the Samsung DeX app on Xiaomi phone (available in APKMirror).
- Connect your phone to the TV through HDMI-adapter (see section 2).
- Launch the DeX app and select Desktop mode.

5. Connection via Bluetooth (TV control)
If you don’t need to duplicate the screen, but only control the TV (switch channels, adjust volume), use a Bluetooth connection:
Instructions:
- On a Samsung TV, activate Bluetooth: Settings → Sound → Sound output → List of Bluetooth devices.
- On a Xiaomi phone, turn on Bluetooth and find the TV in the list of available devices.
- Confirm pairing. You can now use the phone as a remote via the Samsung SmartThings app.
Advantages of the method:
- 🎛️ Full control of TV (including voice commands via Google Assistant)
- 🔋 Low power consumption (Bluetooth consumes 10 times less charge than Wi-Fi)
- 📱 It works even if the phone is in another room (radius of action) ~10 meters)
6. Solving Connection Problems
If the connection is interrupted or not installed, check:

If Miracast doesn’t work on Xiaomi with HyperOS (2026), try retracing to MIUI 14 or using Google Play’s ApowerMirror app.
7. Comparison of Connection Methods
The choice of method depends on your tasks:
- 🎥 To watch movies: HDMI (Best quality or Smart View (convenience).
- 🎮 For games: only HDMI (Minimum latency or Miracast (if the game supports a controller).
- 📊 For presentations: Samsung DeX or Google Cast (from apps) PowerPoint/Google Slides).
- 🔊 For music: Bluetooth or Google Cast (from Spotify/YouTube Music).
Testing of data transfer rate (average values):
- HDMI: 0 ms latency, 4K@60Hz lossless.
- Miracast (5 GHz): 30-50ms latency, 1080p@60Hz.
- Google Cast: 100–200 ms, 1080p@30Hz (depending on the application).
- Bluetooth: Control only, no video transfer.

For stable operation of Miracast, use a router with Wi-Fi 6 support (802.11ax) and a 5 GHz channel. At 2.4 GHz, lags and connection breaks are possible.
