Synchronizing Honor with Xiaomi TVs opens up new possibilities for viewing content, games and presentations on the big screen. However, many users face difficulties: the TV can not see the phone, there are delays in the image, sound is transmitted with distortions. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways of connecting β from wireless protocols to wired adapters β and provide recommendations for correcting typical errors.
The unique thing about combining devices from different brands (Honor and Xiaomi) is that their proprietary technologies (such as Huawei Share and Miracast) can conflict. We tested each method on Honor 90, Honor Magic5 and Xiaomi Mi TV Q2, Redmi Smart TV X models to ensure that the instructions work. If you use other devices, check compatibility in the table below.
Before you start setting up, make sure that both devices are updated to the latest firmware versions. This is critical for wireless protocols: for example, Miracast on Xiaomi TV version MIUI TV 3.0 and below may not support HEVC codecs, which will cause the video to slow down. Also prepare cables and adapters in advance, their characteristics we will specify in the appropriate sections.
1. Wireless connection via Miracast (without router)
Miracast is the most versatile way to transmit a screen wirelessly, because it doesn't require a single Wi-Fi network. It works on a point-to-point basis, creating a direct connection between the phone and the TV.
- π Image delay up to 100-150 ms (critical for gaming).
- πΆ Maximum authorization β 1920Γ1080 upon 30 Hz (on older Xiaomi models) TV).
- π Fast battery discharge (up to 15-20% per hour).
To activate Miracast on Honor:
- Open Settings β Connections β Wireless screen transfer (on some models, path: Settings β Device β Screen transfer).
- Turn on the option and wait for the available devices to be found.
- Select your Xiaomi TV from the list. The connection request will appear on the TV, confirm it.
On Xiaomi TV, pre-activate Miracast via:
Settings β Network and Internet β Miracast β Enableβ οΈ Warning: If the TV is not displayed in the list of devices, check if the power saving mode on the phone is blocking background activity. β Battery β Energy saving regime.

2. Connect via Wi-Fi Direct (using a router)
This is a good method if you need to not only duplicate the screen, but also transfer files or control the TV from your phone. Unlike Miracast, it uses a local Wi-Fi network, which reduces latency to 50β80 ms (optimally for video), but both devices must be connected to the same router.
Instructions for Honor:
- Connect your phone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the phone, open Settings β Connections β Wi-Fi Direct.
- Select Xiaomi TV from the list and confirm pairing on both devices.
- To transfer the screen, use the option of screen transfer in the same menu.
On a Xiaomi TV, you may need to turn on DLNA (for media files) or AirScreen (for screen duplication).
Settings β Applications β System applications β AirScreen β Include| Model TV set | Miracast support | Support for Wi-Fi Direct | Max, permission. |
|---|---|---|---|

3. Wired connection via HDMI (minimum delays)
For gaming, watching 4K@60Hz video, or working with graphics apps, wired connectivity remains the most reliable option, but todayβs Honor smartphones (like most flagships) lack an HDMI port, so youβll need an adapter.
You'll need:
- π adapter USB-C β HDMI DisplayPort Alt Mode (e.g. Baseus) HDMI Adapter or original from Huawei).
- πΊ Cable HDMI 2.0 (for 4K@60Hz? HDMI 2.1 (for 8K).
- β‘ Power supply for adapter (some models require charging connection).
Step-by-step:
- Connect the adapter to the USB-C port of the phone.
- Connect the adapter to the TV with an HDMI cable.
- On the TV, select the HDMI signal source (usually the Source button on the remote).
- On the phone in the notification bar will appear the option Transfer to HDMI β activate it.
β οΈ Note: If the image does not appear, check if your adapter supports mode. MHL (For older TVs, or DisplayPort, for newer ones, Realtek-based adapters. RTD2173 Often conflict with Xiaomi TV β Choose models on Parade PS175 or Megachips MCDP2800.

If the phone doesnβt detect the TV via HDMI, try connecting the adapter to 18W+ charging β some models require additional power to transmit the 4K signal.
4.Use of streaming applications (AirScreen, ApowerMirror)
If embedded protocols don't work, third-party apps come to the rescue, not only to duplicate the screen, but also to control the TV from your phone, stream individual files, or even play mobile games on the big screen.
AirScreen (for Xiaomi TV)
This app is pre-installed on most Xiaomi TVs and supports Miracast, AirPlay and Google Cast protocols.
- Open AirScreen on your TV.
- On the phone in the screen transfer menu, select Xiaomi TV.
- Confirm the connection on the TV.
ApowerMirror (Universal Solution)
The app works even on older models, and allows you to record your phone screen during broadcast, download it from Google Play to your phone and from the Mi App Store to your TV.
- Run ApowerMirror on both devices.
- On the phone, select Connect to TV and scan. QR-TV-screen.
- Allow access to notifications (required for management).
How to eliminate lag in ApowerMirror?
5. USB connection (for media files only)
If you just need to play photos, videos or music from your phone on your TV, USB-The cable is going to be the easiest solution, but there are limitations:
- π¬ Video is played only through standard TV apps (e.g. Mi Video).
- π No access to the system folders of the phone (partitions only) DCIM, Downloads).
- π± The phone must be unlocked (otherwise the TV won't see the files).
Instructions:
- Connect your phone to your TV with a USB-C β USB-A cable.
- On your phone, select File Transfer (FTP) or Media Device (MTP) mode.
- On the TV, open the File Manager or Mi Video app and select the connected phone.
