Xiaomi Bluetooth-enabled TVs are convenient for connecting wireless headphones, speakers or gamepads, but sometimes the module starts to create problems: interfere with other devices, drain the remote battery or simply do not need. In this article, we will discuss all possible ways to disable Bluetooth on Mi TV, Redmi Smart TV and other models of the brand โ from standard settings to hidden commands for experienced users.
Xiaomi TVs donโt always provide a direct Bluetooth deactivation option in the interface. In some firmware, the module works in the background even after the โunplugโ in the menu, continuing to consume energy. We tested all methods on models from 2020 to 2026 and identified the most effective solutions โ including those that are not described in the official documentation.
Why you might want to turn off Bluetooth on Xiaomi TV
At first glance, the wireless module seems like a harmless feature, but there are a few good reasons to deactivate it:
- ๐ Energy savings: Bluetooth module consumes up to 0.5โ1 watts even in standby mode, which is critical for TVs with Always On function (e.g. Mi). TV Q2 2023).
- ๐ถ Interference with other devices: if Wi-Fi routers are running nearby at 2.4 GHz or wireless mice/keyboards, Bluetooth can create conflicts.
- ๐ Security: Protocol vulnerabilities (e.g. BlueBorne) allow hackers to access TV through an unsecured connection.
- ๐ฎ Gamepad conflicts: Some controllers (such as DualSense or Xbox Series X) are delayed due to background module activity.
In addition, Xiaomi TV owners often encounter a bug where Bluetooth spontaneously turns on after a firmware update or reboot, in which cases, a standard shutdown through the menu does not help - radical measures are required, which will be discussed later.
Method 1: Standard shutdown via the settings menu
The most obvious method is to use the built-in options of the system, but the interface may vary depending on the model and version of MIUI TV.
- Turn on the TV and press the Settings button on the Xiaomi remote.
- Go to Settings โ Connections and Sharing (or Network & Accessories in English firmware).
- Select Bluetooth.
- Turn the slider to the off position (or press Disable).
On Mi TV 4S, Mi TV 5 and later, a notification may appear after this step: "Bluetooth will be disabled until the next restart of the TV." This means that the module will activate again the next time you turn on.
Turn off Bluetooth in the settings menu
Restart the TV through Settings โ About TV โ Reboot
Check the status of the module after switching on
If necessary, repeat the shutdown and reset the network settings.-->
| Model TV set | The Way to Bluetooth Settings | Does the shutdown continue after the reboot? |
|---|---|---|
| Mi TV 4A/4C (2018โ2019) | Settings โ Devices โ Bluetooth | No. |
| Mi TV 5 / Redmi Smart TV X (2020โ2021) | Settings โ Connections โ Bluetooth | Partially (in 30% of cases, reset) |
| Mi TV Q1/Q2 (2022โ2026) | Settings โ System โ Wireless Networks โ Bluetooth | Yes (80 percent of the time) |
| Mi TV A2 / A Pro (2023) | Settings โ All settings โ Connections โ Bluetooth | No (reset required) |
If Bluetooth is activated again after the restart, move to the next method. Also note that on some models (for example, Mi TV ES 2021), the option of turning off can be blocked by the manufacturer, in which case only a software reset will help.
Method 2: Disconnect via the engineering menu (for advanced)
The hidden engineering menu allows you to control the hardware modules of the TV, including Bluetooth, which works on most Xiaomi models, but requires caution โ wrong actions can lead to a system failure.
Instructions for entering the engineering menu:
- Turn off the TV remote.
- Press and hold the Menu + Volume Down buttons on the TV case (not the remote!).
- Without releasing buttons, turn on the TV with the power button.
- Wait for the Factory Mode menu (usually a blue screen with English text) to appear.
Then proceed with the algorithm:
1. Select "Module Control" (or "Hardware Test").
2. Find the "Bluetooth" or "BT Module" section.
3. Select the option "Disable" or "Power Off".
4 Save the changes (button "Save" or "Apply").
5. Reboot the TV.๐ก
If there is no Bluetooth disable option in the engineering menu, try resetting the module settings: in the "BT Module" section, select "Reset" or "Clear Pairing".
On Mi TV 6G and later, the engineering menu can be password protected.
- ๐ 1234 or 0000 for most TVs 2020-2022.
- ๐ 6739 โ for firmware based on Android TV 11+.
- ๐ 9876 - for service menus (requires caution!).
โ ๏ธ Warning: Changes to the engineering menu do not persist after the TV is reset to factory settings. TV P1) You can block access to the menu after 3 failed attempts to enter a password.
Method 3: Software resetting network settings
If Bluetooth is turned on spontaneously, the problem may lie in a conflict of network profiles.
- Open Settings โ System โ Reset.
- Select Network Settings (or Reset Network Settings).
- Confirm the action (it may be necessary to enter) PIN-code 1234).
- After the reboot, check the Bluetooth status in the Settings โ Connections menu.
This method removes all stored Wi-Fi networks, passwords and associated devices, but does not affect applications and personal data. On Redmi Smart TV X55 and similar models, geolocation may need to be reset after reset to ensure that Google Play services work properly.
What if the reset didn't help?
Alternatively, reset only Bluetooth settings (without affecting Wi-Fi):
1. Go to Settings โ Apps โ All Apps โ
2. Find "Bluetooth" in the list of system applications.
3. Select "Stop", then "Clear Cache" and "Reset Settings".Method 4: Disconnect via ADB (for tech-savvy)
If standard methods fail, you can use the Android Debug Bridge (ADB), which requires a PC and basic command line knowledge, but is guaranteed to disable the module at the system level.
Step-by-step:
- Turn on USB Debugging on your TV: Go to Settings โ About TV. Press 7 times on Build Number until the notification "You're a developer" appears. Go back to Settings โ For developers and activate Debugging on USB.
USB 3.0
ADB Tools
cmd
adb devices
adb shell
su
setprop persist.bluetooth.enabled 0
stop bluetoothd
exit
adb rebootWhen you restart, Bluetooth will be turned off at the core level. To get it back, use the command:
setprop persist.bluetooth.enabled 1โ ๏ธ Note: On some models (Mi) TV 5X) after-out ADB the sound may disappear in headphones connected by 3.5 mm or HDMI ARC. To recover, reset the sound settings to Settings โ Sound. โ Reset.
๐ก
Disconnection via ADB is the only method that is guaranteed to block background activity of the Bluetooth module, including hidden system processes.
Method 5: Physically shutting down the module (extreme case)
If the software methods didn't work, and Bluetooth is causing critical interference (for example, for medical devices), you might consider hardware shutdown, which requires disassembling the TV and is only suitable for advanced users.
How to find and disable the module:
- Turn off the TV and wait for the full discharge of the capacitors (10-15 minutes).
- Remove the back cover by unscrewing the screws (usually the T8 or T10).
- Find a board labeled BT or Wi-Fi/BT Combo (most often located cerca Wi-Fi antennas).
- Disconnect the plume or carefully solder the module (for this you need a soldering iron with a thin sting).
If you're not sure about your skills, you'd better go to a service center. The cost of turning off Bluetooth in Xiaomi workshops is about 800-1500. โฝ (2026).
Frequent problems and their solutions
When you turn off Bluetooth on Xiaomi TVs, users experience typical errors. Letโs consider the most common and ways to fix them:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth turns on itself after restarting | Failure in settings.db file or firmware conflict | Reset via ADB: adb shell rm /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db |
| There is no โBluetoothโ option in the settings menu | Cut firmware (for example, for the Chinese market) | Install global firmware via OTA or USB |
| After the shutdown, the sound in the headphones disappeared | Resetting audio routing | Go to Settings โ Sound โ Exit โ HDMI ARC and select the right source |
| TV is not turned on after changes to the engineering menu | Incorrect settings Power IC | Complete reset: Hold Power + Volume Up for 15 seconds |
If your problem is not described in the table, check the error log:
adb logcat | grep -i bluetoothThis will help identify a specific fault, such as an error. E/bt_btm: BTM_SetPowerMode Failed indicates a hardware failure of the module.
