Modern Xiaomi Redmi smartphones support simultaneous connection of several Bluetooth devices, but not all users know how to configure this feature correctly. Most often, problems arise when trying to listen to music on two speakers at once or use a headset for calls in parallel with wireless headphones. In this article, we will analyze all the nuances from checking the compatibility of the model to setting up A2DP and HFP profiles.
It's important to understand that not all MIUI versions and not all Redmi models work the same with multithreaded Bluetooth. For example, budget devices like the Redmi 9A can limit simultaneous audio playback, while the flagship Redmi K50 or Redmi Note 12 Pro+ can do this without problems. We tested the solutions on different firmware and collected working methods, including bypassing restrictions through splitting sound profiles.
Check the compatibility of your Xiaomi Redmi model
Before you try to connect two devices, make sure your smartphone supports Dual Audio (or Multipoint in newer versions of MIUI).
- π± Models with Snapdragon chipset 7xx/8xx (Like Redmi. K40, Redmi Note 11 Pro+) β Dual Audio supports iron level.
- π Smartphones on MediaTek Helio G (e.g. Redmi 10, Redmi Note) 10S) β You may need to manually adjust your profiles.
- π« Budget models (Redmi) 9C, Redmi A1) β Often lacking hardware support, but there are workarounds.
To determine exactly what your device is capable of, check the MIUI version in Settings β About Phone. Current firmware (starting with MIUI 12.5) has a built-in option called "Dual Audio", but it can be hidden. If it's not, you'll have to use alternative methods, which we'll discuss below.
Method 1: Dual Audio feature built-in in MIUI
The easiest method is to use the standard MIUI tool, which is available on most mid-range and high-end devices, and here's how to activate it:
- Open Settings β Bluetooth and connect the first device (e.g. headphones).
- Return to the main Settings menu and go to Sound and Vibration β More
- Find the item "Dual Audio" and turn it on.
- Connect the second device via Bluetooth β the sound must be automatically duplicated.
If you donβt have an option, try upgrading to the latest version of MIUI. On some devices (such as the Redmi Note 10 Pro), the feature only appears after upgrading to MIUI 13+. Also check that both plug-ins support the A2DP profile (most modern headphones and speakers support it).
βοΈ Preparation for Dual Audio
β οΈ Attention: On some firmware MIUI for the European Region (EEA) Dual Audio can be disabled by default, in which case resetting Bluetooth settings to Settings will help β Annexes β Application management β Bluetooth β Warehouse β Clear the data.
Method 2: Manual separation of sound profiles
If the built-in feature is not available, you can manually configure different Bluetooth profiles for each device, which works even on budget models, but requires precise execution of the steps:
- Connect the first device (like a headset for calls) via Bluetooth. Make sure it uses a headset profile (HFP).
- Connect the second device (for example, a music speaker) and select the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) profile in its settings.
- In Settings β Sound β In addition, set βMedia Audioβ for the second device.
This way, calls will go through the headset (HFP) and music will go through the speaker (A2DP), a technique that is particularly useful for the Redmi 9 or Redmi 8A, where Dual Audio is missing.
| Bluetooth profile | Appointment | Example of device |
|---|---|---|
| A2DP | High quality sound (music, video) | Xiaomi AirDots wireless headphones, JBL Flip column |
| HFP | Calls and voice commands | Redmi Buds 3 Pro headset, car kit |
| AVRCP | Reproduction management | Remote from the column, smart watch |
π‘
If the second device doesn't connect in A2DP mode, try disabling the first device, connecting the second with the desired profile, and then reconnecting the first one. Sometimes MIUI "forgets" profile priorities.
Method 3: Using Third-Party Applications
If the standard methods didn't work, Google Play apps will come to the rescue, and we tested a few solutions and selected the most reliable ones:
- π§ SoundAssistant (from Samsung, but runs on Xiaomi) β allows you to share sound between two devices, even if the phone does not support Dual Audio natively.
- π Bluetooth Auto Connect β automatically reconnects devices in the right profiles, useful for Redmi with unstable Bluetooth.
- ποΈ Developer Options Tool β gives access to hidden Bluetooth settings, including forced activation A2DP.
For installation of SoundAssistant:
- Download APK from the official website (or through Google Play if available in your area).
- Launch the app and grant permissions to access Bluetooth and Sound Settings.
- In the βDual Audioβ section, select both connected devices and activate synchronization.
β οΈ Note: Apps like SoundAssistant may conflict with embedded services MIUI. If after installation there are lags or the sound disappears, clear the Bluetooth cache in the application settings.
Solving problems with sound delay and communication breaks
When two devices are connected at the same time, there may be delays in sound (latency) or communication interruptions, due to the bandwidth limitations of Bluetooth 4.2/5.0.
- π Turn off power saving for Bluetooth in Settings β Battery β Energy saving regime β Settings β Bluetooth (disable optimization).
- πΆ Reduce the distance between your phone and devices β walls and interference degrade the signal.
- π Use the codec. SBC instead AAC Or aptX (developer settings) which gives better quality, but can cause lags.
If the delay is critical (e.g., when watching a video), try to force the SBC codec to install:
- Activate Developer Mode (7 times click on the MIUI version in Settings β About Phone).
- Go to Settings β Additional β For developers β Bluetooth settings.
- Select SBC from the list of available codecs.
Why is there a delay in sound?
Features of connecting to different types of devices
Not all Bluetooth devices work equally well in pairs, and hereβs what to consider when choosing a gadget:
| Type of device | Compatible with Dual Audio | Recommendations |
|---|---|---|
| TWS headphones (such as Redmi Buds 4) | β Good. | Use the A2DP profile for music |
| Car headset | β οΈ Medium (may conflict with the HFP) | Turn off the second device during calls |
| Portable column (JBL, Xiaomi) | β Great. | Supports A2DP and AVRCP |
| Smartwatches (Mi Band, Amazfit) | β Bad (usually used) BLE) | Not suitable for Dual Audio |
For automotive systems (such as Android Auto), connecting two devices at the same time can cause conflicts, in which case we recommend using profiles as a priority.
- Connect the car system first (it will take the HFP profile for calls).
- Connect the second device (such as headphones) manually through Bluetooth Settings.
- In Settings β Sound set "Media-audio" for headphones.

Car headsets and smartwatches often use the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) protocol, which is not compatible with Dual Audio.
Alternative methods for older Xiaomi Redmi models
If your smartphone is older than 2020 (like the Redmi 7 or Redmi Note 8), the standard ways may not work.
- π Bluetooth splitter (e.g., Avantek) BTA-200) β A physical device that duplicates a signal by two receivers.
- π» Tasker app β allows you to create automatic switching scenarios between devices.
- π Modem mode β if one of the devices supports Wi-Fi Direct connectivity (for example, some Xiaomi speakers).
To set up Tasker:
- Install the application and provide all necessary permissions.
- Create a task with Bluetooth Connected (first device connected).
- Add the action Audio β Set Bluetooth Audio Device and specify the second device.
On Redmi models with Bluetooth 4.0 (for example, Redmi 6), simultaneous connection of two devices is impossible at the software level β you will need an external splitter.
