Are you in a situation where the remote from Xiaomi TV is dead, lost or simply stopped working, and the TV needs to be turned off? Do not rush to pull the cord out of the socket โ this can harm the system. On the body of any Xiaomi TV (including models Mi TV 4A, 4S, 5 Pro, Redmi Smart TV and others) there are physical buttons that allow you to control basic functions, including shutdown.
In this article, we will detail where these buttons are, how to use them, and what to do if standard methods fail, and learn about hidden button combinations for forced shutdowns and how to avoid typical errors that can lead to system failure.
Where are the control buttons on the Xiaomi TV
Unlike many brands, Xiaomi places physical buttons not on the front panel, but on the bottom or side of the case, and their number and location depend on the model:
- ๐บ Mi TV 4A/4S/4C: The buttons are on the right side of the screen (when you watch the TV in the front). 3 buttons: Power, Volume +/โ and Menu/OK.
- ๐บ Mi TV 5 Pro / Q1 / Q2: the power button is placed separately on the lower edge (under the logo), the rest are on the right side.
- ๐บ Redmi Smart TV: All buttons (including Source) are on the left side of the button.
- ๐บ Xiaomi TV A Pro / ES: power button hidden under a removable plug on the bottom panel (you need to tamper with a nail or plastic card).
If you can't find the buttons, look around in good lighting - they are often colored TV and contrast poorly. On some models (for example, Mi TV Q1 75), the power button can be touch-sensitive and only work with prolonged pressing.
On older models (before 2019), buttons could be placed on the back of the connectors, and if you bought your TV a long time ago, check this option. OLED-models (e.g. Mi models) TV Master buttons can be hidden under the decorative panel - they need to feel with your finger.

If the TV doesnโt respond to a brief press, try holding the 3-5 second button, which will force the device to turn off, but this method is not recommended to be used regularly, as it is similar to an emergency power outage and can lead to the loss of unsaved data in applications.
โ๏ธ Pre-off check
On some models (e.g. Mi TV 5 Pro), the power button may be touch-sensitive.
- ๐ Touch it once to call the menu.
- ๐ Hold 2 seconds for forced shutdown.
Method 2: Turn off via the settings menu (if the power button doesnโt work)

If the Xiaomi TV is stuck on the logo, does not respond to buttons or gives an error, a hard reset may be necessary, which should be used only as a last resort, since it is equivalent to turning off power during operation and can damage the Android TV file system.
How to perform a forced shutdown:
- Find the power button on the case.
- Hold it for 10-15 seconds until the screen goes out and the indicator starts flashing red.
- Release the button and wait 30 seconds before re-energizing.

Hold the "Power" button + the "Loudness -" button at the same time for 8 secondsโ ๏ธ Warning: After a hard reset, the TV may load longer than usual (up to 2-3 minutes). If the screen remains black for more than 5 minutes, try turning off the power for 1 minute, then turn on again.

- ๐ค Or activate Alice (if the TV is tied to Yandex.Ecosystem) and say the command "Switch off the TV".
What to do if none of the methods work
If the TV doesn't respond to buttons, remotes, or apps, there may be a major failure.
- Turn off the power from the socket for 1-2 minutes, then turn it on again. This will reset temporary errors.
- If the TV is turned on but freezes again, try resetting: Settings โ System โ Reset โ Reset to factory settings You will need buttons on the case (see Method 2).
- If the screen is black, check the power indicator: ๐ด Red flashing โ TV in standby mode (try to turn on the button). ๐ด Red constant - the power supply is faulty. ๐ข Green: TV is on but no signal (check cables).
If after all the manipulations the TV does not turn on, there is probably a problem in the power supply or motherboard, in which case contact the Xiaomi service center or a proven wizard.

Before you carry the TV for repair, try connecting it to another outlet or using a different power cable. Often the problem lies in faulty wiring, not in the technique.
