Second screen (Second Space) on Xiaomi Redmi smartphones is a useful feature for separating personal and work data, but sometimes users face a problem: the phone βhangsβ in this mode, preventing you from returning the main profile. The situation is aggravated if you forgot the password from the main space or the system switched itself after the MIUI update. In this article, we will analyze all the current ways to exit from the standard methods to hidden commands for experienced users.
It's important to understand that the problem isn't always a firmware bug. Often, faulty security settings, application conflict, or even bugs in the latest versions of MIUI 14/15. We've tested the solutions on Redmi Note 12/13 Pro, Redmi 10/11, and POCO X5 models -- all of which work, but some require unlocking a bootloader or connecting to a PC. If you're unsure of your skills, start with the simplest methods.
1. Standard exit through the notification panel
The most obvious but often ignored way is to use built-in space switching. Most Xiaomi devices with MIUI 12+ have a dedicated button in the notification bar.
How to do this:
- π± Swipe down from the top edge of the screen to open the notification bar.
- π Find the icon βTwo Spacesβ** (two overlapping circles) or the inscription βSecond Space.
If no button:
- π Try swiping the notification panel twice (full swipe).
- π On some firmware, the button is hidden behind the button User Mode (human icon).
- π± If the panel doesn't respond, reboot the phone - sometimes it returns the button.

- Open Settings β Second Space (or Settings β Special Features β Second Space on older versions of MIUI).
- Select Exit from Second Space or Switch Space.
- Enter the password from the current (second) space.
- Confirm the switching - the device will restart.
If there is no exit point:
- π§ Try the way: Settings β Accounts. β Second Space.
- π On some firmware, you need to first disable Second Space and then restart your phone.
- π± If the menu is not available, check if it is hidden in Settings. β More. β Special facilities.
