Reboot mode on Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO smartphones is one of the most frustrating problems users face: the device gets stuck on the MI logo, the screen flashes or reboots in a cycle, preventing them from even logging in. The reasons for this behavior can be different, from a failure after updating MIUI to damaging system files. The main thing is not to panic: in 90% of cases, the phone can be brought back to life without going to the service center.
In this article, we’ll look at all the current ways to exit reboot mode, from the simplest (for example, forced reboot) to the radical (flashing through Fastboot). Each method is illustrated with screenshots and accompanied by step-by-step instructions. Particular attention will be paid to models with a locked bootloader (2022-2026 release), where standard solutions often do not work. If your Xiaomi is stuck on the logo after an update, incorrect rooting or physical damage, here you will find a solution.
Why is Xiaomi stuck in reboot mode?
Before we start resuscitating the phone, it's important to understand the root of the problem: an endless reboot is a symptom, not a diagnosis.
- 🔄 Update failure MIUI. Most often occurs when the process is interrupted (the battery is discharged, the Internet is turned off) or when the “raw” beta version of the firmware is installed.
- 🛠️ Failed rooting or modification of system files: Removing critical applications (e.g. com.miui.securitycenter) or editing build.prop without backup.
- 🔋 Critical battery discharge: If the phone is off at 0% and cannot boot properly after connecting to charge.
- 💥 Hardware damage: Falling, moisture or overheating can damage the motherboard, especially the memory controller.
- 📱 Conflict after resetting settings. For example, if you made a hard reset through Recovery, but the system can not recover data.
In Xiaomi 2023-2026 (e.g. Xiaomi 14, Redmi Note 13 Pro+), reboot is most often called by locking the bootloader after an unsuccessful attempt to unlock through the Mi Unlock Tool. In this case, standard methods will not work – you will need official firmware via Mi Flash.
⚠️ Warning: If the phone reboots after falling or getting water, don't try to sew it yourself, this can aggravate the damage.
Method 1: Forced reboot (Hard Reboot)
The simplest and safest method, which works 30-40% of the time, is suitable for temporary failures when the system is getting stuck during the boot phase, but the hardware is working properly.
Instructions:
- Turn off the phone from charging (if connected).
- Press the power button and hold it for 15-20 seconds until the screen goes out.
- Wait 30 seconds, then turn on the phone as usual.
If the device boots up after that, the problem is solved. If not, move on to the next method.
Disconnect the charger
Try another socket/cable
Hold the power button + increase volume 10 seconds
Wait 5 minutes before trying again-->
On some models (e.g. POCO F5 or Redmi K60), the button combination may be different. If holding the power button is not working, try:
Power button + Volume increase (hold 10-15 seconds)Method 2: Download to Safe Mode (Safe Mode)
Safe Mode allows you to download a phone with third-party apps disabled, and if the problem is caused by a conflict of programs (for example, after installing a custom launcher or antivirus), this method will help.
How to log in to Safe Mode:
- Turn off the phone (if it doesn’t turn off, do Hard Reboot from the previous method).
- When the MI logo appears, press the volume button and hold it until the phone boots up.
- In the lower left corner of the screen will appear the inscription Safe mode.
If the phone boots up:
- 📱 Remove newly installed apps (especially those that required root access).
- 🔄 Restart your phone in normal mode.
- 🛠️ If the problem remains, reset to factory settings via Settings. → The phone. → Resetting settings.
⚠️ Warning: Safe Mode doesn’t have widgets, device administrators and some system features disabled. Don’t try to update your firmware in this mode – this can lead to a phone blink (completely inoperable.
Method 3: Resetting through Recovery Mode
If the phone doesn't boot even in Safe Mode, the next step is to reset the settings through Recovery, which will delete all the data from the device, but keep the system running.
Step-by-step:
- Turn off your phone (if necessary).
- Press the combination: The power button + Hold until the Recovery menu appears (usually the Xiaomi logo with Android robot).
- From the Recovery menu, select the language (if available), then: Wipe Data → Wipe All Data → Confirm
- After reset, select Reboot → Reboot to System.
If the Recovery menu doesn’t open or the reset doesn’t help, the firmware may be damaged, in which case you’ll need to flash through Fastboot (see next section).
What happens if Recovery does not open?
| Xiaomi model | Combination for Recovery | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12/13 | Power + Volume Increase | Menu in Chinese/English, touch control |
| POCO F4/F5, Redmi K50/K60 | Power + Volume increase (hold 10+ seconds) | You may need to connect to the charging |
| Xiaomi Mi 11, Redmi Note 10 | Power + Volume Increase (Short Press) | Sensitive buttons may not work the first time |
| Older models (until 2020) | Power + Increase + Lower Volume | Menu with volume button control |
Method 4: Fastboot Fastboot Fastboot Fastboot (for advanced ones)
If resetting through Recovery doesn't work, you'll have to manually refashion the phone, USB-Xiaomi cable and official firmware, suitable for models with unlocked bootloader.
What you need:
- 💻 Windows computer 10/11 (For the Mi Flash Tool).
- 🔌 Original. USB-cable (better from the set).
- 📁 Official firmware for your model (download from Xiaomi website).
- 🛠️ Utility: Mi Flash Tool, Qualcomm Driver or MediaTek (depending on the processor).
Step-by-step:
- Download and install the Mi Flash Tool (the latest version).
- Unpack the firmware in a folder without Cyrillic characters (for example, C:\Xiaomi\rom).
- Turn off the phone and put it in Fastboot mode: Power button + Volume reduction Should appear hare in the hat-ear (Fastboot mode).
- Connect your phone to your PC. In Mi Flash, select the firmware folder and press Refresh. The device needs to be determined.
- At the bottom, select Clean All (full clean) and click Flash.
- Wait for the process to finish (5-10 minutes) and the phone will reboot automatically.
1. to run the program on behalf of the administrator.
2. disable the antivirus (it can block drivers).
3. Use a different version of Mi Flash (e.g. 2018 for older models).-->
⚠️ Note: Fastboot Flash Flashing deletes all data, including photos and apps. If your phone had important files, try extracting them first. ADB (If the phone is determined by PC).
Method 5: Firmware through EDL Mode (for "bricks")
If the phone doesn’t turn on at all (it doesn’t respond to buttons, it’s not detected in Fastboot), but the PC sees it as a Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008, then the last chance is firmware via EDL Mode (Emergency Download Mode), which is used to restore phones with damaged firmware or a locked bootloader.
⚠️ Warning: The method requires an authorized Xiaomi account (for new models) and risks locking the phone permanently if you do not do the right thing!
Instructions:
- Download the firmware for EDL (usually a file with the.mbn or.elf extension).
- Install Qualcomm drivers and the QFil or Mi Flash Pro utility.
- Connect the phone to the PC by holding the buttons Power + Increase + Volume Down (on some models you need to close the test points on the board).
- In QFil, select firmware and press Download.
- Wait until it is completed (it can take up to 30 minutes).
On Xiaomi models from 2023 to 2026 (Xiaomi 14, Redmi Note 13), EDL requires authorization through an official Xiaomi account. Without it, the firmware will end in an SLA Auth Fail error.

What do you do if nothing helps?
If all of these methods fail, there are three options:
- Xiaomi’s official centers can restore a phone even with a damaged fee, but it is a paid service (from 3,000 to 10,000). ₽ model-wise).
Forums (e.g., 4PDA or Xiaomi.eu) provide detailed guides for specific models, but beware: unofficial firmware may contain viruses or unstable builds.
💡
If the phone doesn't respond to buttons and isn't detected by a PC, the problem is likely hardware, in which case self-repair can make things worse - it's best to consult a specialist.
