Why canβt you just log out of your Mi Account without your data?
The Mi Account system in Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones is designed to prevent unauthorized access to the device. Even if you forget your password or login, the manufacturer does not provide a standard way to log out without proof of identity.
β Protection against theft β without linking to the account, the phone can easily be reset and sold.
β Data Synchronization β Mi Account stores backups, photos, notes and settings.
β Blocking through Find Device β if you lose the device can be remotely blocked.
But there are workarounds, from official (through support) to technical (using ADB or Fastboot), and itβs important to understand that some methods can lead to complete data loss or even βbrickingβ of the device if executed incorrectly.
Before you start, answer 2 questions:
- Are you ready to reset all the data on your phone?
- Do you have a backup of important files?
β οΈ Risks and consequences of unofficial withdrawal from the account
Attempt to circumvent the protection of Mi Account without official data is fraught with:
- π΄ Blocking. IMEI β Xiaomi may add device to blacklist, making it useless for calls.
- π΄ Warranty loss β any manipulation of the firmware will void the warranty obligations.
- π΄ Errors β After a Fastboot reset, you may have problems with your camera, network, or sensors.
- π΄ Factory lock activation β on some models (for example, Redmi Note 10 Pro) after reset, you need to enter the data of the old account.
The safest way is to restore access to Mi Account through official channels, and if that is not possible, use the methods in this article at your own risk.
β οΈ Attention: On devices with MIUI 14+ Android 13+ Some of the methods (for example, through ADB) It may not work because of increased security!
What is the "bricking" of the device?
Method 1: Recovery Mode (without data loss)
This is suitable for devices on MIUI 12 and older that have not yet closed the vulnerability in recovery mode, and allows you to delete your account without completely resetting, but does not work on all models.
Instructions:
- Turn off the phone.
- Press Volume Up + Power before the Mi logo appears.
- In the Recovery menu, select the language (if available).
- Go to Advanced. β Wipe Dalvik Cache.
- Go back to the main menu and select Reboot β System.
If your account is gone after the reboot, you're in luck. If you're not, try the next step:
- π§ In Recovery, select Mounts and Storage. β Format /data (It'll delete all the data!).
- π§ Reset the device.
β οΈ Attention: POCO F3, Redmi Note 11 Pro+ And new models, this method often leads to a requirement to enter an old account after a reset!

Method 2: Use of ADB (for advanced users)
ADB (Android Debug Bridge) is a tool for debugging Android devices through a computer, which can delete Xiaomi account files, but requires pre-setting.
What you need:
- π₯οΈ Computer with Windows/Linux/MacOS.
- π Original. USB-cable (required for stable connection).
- π₯ Installed drivers ADB and Fastboot.
- π§ Included debugging by USB on the phone (if the phone is unlocked).
If USB debugging is not enabled, this method will not work! go to Method 3 (Fastboot).
Instructions for devices with debugging enabled:
adb shell
su
rm -rf /data/system/mi_account*
rm -rf /data/data/com.xiaomi.account/
rebootOnce the account is rebooted, it will disappear. If the Permission denied error appears, you do not have root rights.
π‘
If the phone is not identified in ADB, Try reinstalling drivers via Mi Flash Tool or using another one USB-port (preferably) USB 2.0).
| Xiaomi model | Support ADB-method | The risk of blocking |
|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 8/9 | β Yes (MIUI 11-12) | Low. |
| POCO X3 NFC | β Yes (root required) | Medium. |
| Mi 10/11 | β No (locking on) MIUI 13+) | High-pitched |
| Redmi 10A | β Yes, no root) | Low. |
Method 3: Delete your account via Fastboot (with a full reset)
If ADB doesn't help or USB debugging is disabled, Fastboot mode remains, which works on most devices, but erases all data without recovery.
What needs to be done:
- Download the official firmware for your model (choose the Fastboot version).
- Unpack the archive in a folder on your computer.
- Install ADB and Fastboot Tools.
- Transfer the phone to Fastboot mode (clip Volume Down + Power).
Next, enter commands in the terminal (the computer must see the device by commanding fastboot devices):
fastboot oem edl # for some models only
Fastboot flash all # Firmware full image (remove everything!)
fastboot rebootβ οΈ New devices (Redmi Note 12, POCO X5) You may need to unlock the bootloader through the official Xiaomi website (the process takes up to 72 hours).
π‘
Fastboot firmware is the most reliable way to delete Mi Account, but it is only suitable if you are ready to lose all data and can wait for the bootloader to unlock.
Method 4: Officially Deleting Your Account Through Xiaomi Support
If you don't have the technical methods, you can try to restore access or delete your account through support, which will take time, but it is guaranteed that the device will not be damaged.
How to proceed:
- Go to the Mi Account website and select Forgot your password.
- Please provide an email or phone number.
- If access to email/phone is lost, click No access to this data? and fill out the form:
- π Attach passport photo (to confirm identity).
- π± Indicate. IMEI Devices (can be found on the box or via *#06#).
- π Approximate date of account creation.
The response can take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks, and if the account was created long ago and the email/phone is not attached to it, the chances of recovery are minimal.
β οΈ Note: Xiaomi support can request a check to buy the device. If the phone is bought with hands, this method will not work!
Method 5: Bypassing service centers (paid but safe)
If you don't succeed, you can go to the service center, and many workshops offer Mi Account deletion for 1,000-3,000 rubles, depending on the model.
What the service does:
- π§ Use it. EDL-mode (emergency loading) for firmware without locking.
- π§ Apply special box solutions (for example, UFi Box or EasyJTAG).
- π§ Restore. IMEI, if it's blocked.
Before the service visit:
- π Check if you have a job guarantee (some accounts are returned after the update).
- π° Compare prices β in official Xiaomi services, the service can cost more than in private workshops.
- π Check out the reviews about the workshop (especially the keywords "Mi Account removal").
β οΈ Careful: some "masters" may offer a motherboard swap - it's a scam! Real account deletion doesn't require a replacement of iron.
Frequent Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
When trying to log out of Mi Account, users often face typical problems:
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Couldn't find a device in ADB | Drivers not installed or cable is faulty | Reinstall drivers via Mi Flash Tool, try another one USB-port |
| After the reset, the old account is required again. | FRP-Blocking (Factory Reset Protection) | Use Fastboot with full firmware or contact the service |
| OEM unlocking not allowed | Unlocked loader | Wait 72β168 hours after linking your account to your device |
| The phone does not turn on after the firmware | Incompatible version of MIUI or interrupted process | Fly through EDL in the service |
If you see this device is locked when you try to flash your phone, it means that the bootloader is locked. You can only unlock it through the official Mi Unlock Tool app, but you need access to your old account!

Before any firmware manipulation, disable Find Device in your account settings (if you have access) and this will reduce the risk of being blocked after a reset.
