Exiting from a Google account on Xiaomi Redmi smartphones is a procedure that every user faces when selling a device, resetting settings or fixing synchronization errors. However, the standard algorithm through the settings menu does not always work: MIUI (Xiaomi firmware) can block the output due to active protection, and after resetting to factory settings, FRP- often requires Factory Reset Protection. In this article, we will analyze all the current methods from basic to advanced, including bypassing locks and solving typical errors.
Redmiβs feature (as opposed to the naked Android devices) is tight integration with Mi Account services and Googleβs backup features, which means that leaving one account doesnβt always disable all related services: Googleβs Find My Device and Xiaomiβs Find Device work in parallel.
Important: the procedure differs depending on the version of MIUI (12/13/14) and the Redmi model (for example, on the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ with MIUI 14), all methods in the article are tested on the current firmware 2026 of the year.
1. Standard exit from Google account through settings
The easiest method is to delete your account directly from the Xiaomi menu, which is suitable if you remember the password, the device is not locked, and the MIUI is not damaged.
Step-by-step:
- Open the Settings app (cog icon).
- Go to Accounts and Sync (MIUI 14 β Google β Managing Google Accounts).
- Choose your account (if there are several).
- Click on the three dots in the upper right corner β Delete your account.
- Confirm the action by entering a password or pattern lock.

Note: Once an account is deleted, all data associated with it (contacts, mail, calendars) will be erased from the device, but it will remain in the Google cloud and synced when you re-enter.
If the Delete account is inactive (grey), the reasons may be as follows:
- π Device Administrator: Enterprise software (e.g. Android Device Policy) is installed to block changes.
- π± Developer Mode: Settings that limit account modifications have been activated.
- π Update MIUI: Some versions (e.g., MIUI 12.5 Enhanced) require that you first disable sync.
Turn off sync in Settings β Google β Account Sync
Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile network
Battery charge of at least 30%
Remove all administrator restrictions in Settings β Applications β Special Access

2. Sign out after resetting (FRP-Bhod)
If you have done a hard reset via Recovery or Fastboot, the system will require you to enter the data of the last Google account tied β FRP (Factory Reset Protection) protection. Xiaomi Redmi is harder to get around than other brands, due to the additional binding to the Mi Account.
The official method (if you remember the data):
- On the greeting screen, select the language.
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- At the stage of entering a Google account, enter your login and password.
- After logging in, go to the settings and delete your account (see Section 1).
Unofficial methods (if you forgot your password):
- π Restore via SMS: On the login screen, click Forgot your password? β Follow Googleβs instructions (access to the linked number or backup email will be required).
- π» Remote Deletion: Go to myaccount.google.com from a PC, remove the device from the trusted list.
- π§ Bypassing ADB: Suitable for advanced users. PC, USB- cable, and debugging enabled on USB (if activated before reset).
On Redmi with MIUI 13+, FRP bypassing through firmware holes (such as Pangu FRP) is often blocked by security updates. Using such tools can lead to a brick device (turning into a brick).

3. Delete Google account via Mi Account (double binding)
Xiaomi Redmi features two accounts running parallel, Google and Mi Account. When you delete one, the other can remain active, leading to sync conflicts. For example, if you logged out of Google but are logged in to Mi Account, some features (such as Mi Cloud) will continue to use Google data for backup.
How to completely disable both accounts:
- Delete your Google account (see Section 1).
- Go to Settings β Mi Account (or Xiaomi Account on new models).
- Tap the avatar. β Exit.
- Confirm the action by entering the password from Mi Account.
- Reset the device.

Note: On some Redmi models (e.g. Redmi K50 Gaming), leaving the Mi Account automatically breaks communication with Xiaomi servers, which can lead to loss of access to proprietary features (e.g. Game Turbo or Second Space).
Table: Differences between Google and Mi Account on Xiaomi Redmi
| Function | Google Account | Mi Account |
|---|---|---|
| Synchronization of contacts | β | β |
| Backup | β (Google Drive) | β (Mi Cloud) |
| Find My Device | β | β (but there is Find Device from Xiaomi) |
| Payment at the Mi Store | β | β |
| Post-reset lock (FRP) | β | β (additional Mi Account lock) |

4. log out of account if the device is blocked
If Redmi is locked (forgot the pattern lock/PIN), the standard methods will not work, in which case there are two options: unlock through the Mi Unlock Tool (the official way) or bypass through Recovery mode.
Method 1: Mi Unlock Tool (requires PC)
- π» Download the Mi Unlock Tool from the official website.
- π Connect your smartphone in Fastboot mode (press Power + Volume Down when the device is off).
- π Sign in to the tool under the same Mi Account as you have on your phone.
- π± Follow the program instructions to unlock.
Method 2: Bypassing Recovery (without loss of data)
- Turn off the phone.
- Press Power + Volume Up to enter Recovery Mode.
- Select Wipe Data β Wipe All Data (this will result in a reset!).
- After rebooting at the setup stage, skip logging into accounts.

Note: Using informal unlocking tools (such as the SP Flash Tool) can lead to loss of IMEI or locking network modules. On Redmi with Snapdragon processors (such as the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G), the risk is higher than on models with MediaTek.

If, after unlocking the Mi Unlock Tool, the device asks you to re-enter the Mi Account, try connecting to another Wi-Fi network or using a mobile phone. Internet. Sometimes the blockage is connected to IP-address.
5. Solving errors when leaving a Google account
Even with the right actions, Xiaomi Redmi users face mistakes, and letβs look at the most common ones and how to fix them.
Error 1: βIt is impossible to delete your accountβ
- π Reason: The account is the owner of the device (e.g., was the first added).
- π Solution: Add a new Google account, make it your primary account, then delete the old one.
Error 2: "Mi Account Password Confirmation Required"
- π Reason: MIUI blocks account changes without security confirmation.
- π± Solution: Enter the Mi Account password in the window that appears or reset it via account.xiaomi.com.
Error 3: "Synchronization disabled by administrator"
- π’ Reason: The device is tied to corporate policy (e.g., through Android Enterprise).
- π§ Solution: Go to Settings β Applications β Special Access β Device Administrators and disable unnecessary applications.
Table: Error codes and their significance
| Error code | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| ERROR_ACCOUNT_REMOVAL_FAILED | The account is used by system services | Turn off sync manually |
| MIUI_SECURITY_VERIFICATION | Mi Account Confirmation Required | Enter the password or reset it. |
| FRP_LOCKED | Activated protection after discharge | Enter the last account details |
| DEVICE_POLICY_MANAGER | Corporate restrictions | Disable the device administrator |

7. Alternative methods (for experienced users)
If standard methods fail, you can use advanced techniques that require technical skills and can lead to loss of data or warranty.
Method 1: Delete your account through ADB
- Activate Developer Mode (7 times click on the MIUI version in About Phone).
- Enable USB debugging in Settings β Additional β For developers.
- Connect your phone to your PC and type in the command: adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.gms
- Reboot your device and your account will be deleted (but it will also delete all Google services!).
Method 2: Editing the account.db file (requires root)
- π Use Root Explorer to go to /data/system/.
- π Find the account.db file and open it in the text editor.
- βοΈ Delete the lines containing your Google account.
- π Save the changes and restart the device.
