Removed an important contact on Xiaomi and you don't know how to get it back? The situation is familiar to many: one wrong swipe in the Contacts app - and the number disappeared from the phone book. Fortunately, owners of Xiaomi smartphones have several ways to recover deleted data, even if you didn't back up before. In this article, we will examine all the current methods - from the standard features of Mi Account to hidden Android capabilities that work on Redmi models, POCO and the flagship Xiaomi series 13/14.
It's important to understand that the success of the recovery depends on how the number was deleted, if you manually erased the contact through the app, the chances of returning it are higher than when you reset the phone to factory settings, and whether your contacts are synchronized with your Google account or Mi Cloud also plays a role, and we'll look at the options for all scenarios, from the simplest to the most complex.
Before you start, check to see if the number is still in other places, such as your phone history, SMS messages or messengers like WhatsApp, which sometimes saves you hours of recovery. If the contact is missing, read on.
Recovery via Mi Account (Mi Cloud)
The most reliable way to return remote contacts to Xiaomi is to use the built-in backup feature in the Mi Cloud.
- πΉ You previously enabled contact synchronization in your Mi Account settings.
- πΉ Deletion occurred no more than 30 days ago (retention period of backup copies).
- πΉ You have access to a Xiaomi account linked to your phone.
To restore contact:
- Open the Settings. β Mi Account β Mi Cloud.
- Select the Contacts section and click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Tap Restore Contacts and select the latest backup (see the date of creation in the file title).
- Confirm the recovery and wait until the process is complete (may take up to 5 minutes).
Check the Wi-Fi connection
Make sure your phone has enough charge (>30%)
Remember or record current contacts (they can be overwritten)
Disable VPN (if used)

An important nuance: if you deleted a contact before the last sync with Mi Cloud, it may not recover. In this case, try to select an earlier backup (if any), also note that the recovery will overwrite current contacts - export the current phone book to the VCF file before the procedure, so as not to lose new numbers.
β οΈ Note: If you changed your Mi Account password after deleting contacts, backups may have been lost.
2. Use of Google Contacts (for synchronized accounts)
If your Xiaomi is linked to a Google account, chances are that your contacts are automatically synced to Google Contacts, a method that works even after you reset your phone to your factory settings.
Step 1: Open contacts.google.com on your computer or phone and log in with the same account as you do on Xiaomi.
Step 2. On the left menu, select More β Undo Changes. Here you will see a list of recent contact actions from the past 30 days. Find the remote number and click Cancel.
Step 3: If there is no rollback, check the basket: Another β Recycle Bin. Remote contacts are stored there for up to 30 days, and can be restored one by one or all at once.
On the phone, synchronization can be manually enabled:
- Go to Settings β Accounts β Google.
- Select your account and enable the slider opposite Contact.
- Wait for the synchronization to be completed (the cloud icon in the status bar should disappear).

If a remote contact was saved on WhatsApp, open a chat with it in the messenger, tap it in the name of the person, and select Save in Contacts. This will work even if the number is not in the phone book.
Limitations of the method:
- πΈ Only Google-synced contacts (not local) are restored).
- πΈ If you deleted your Google account from your phone before syncing, your data may have been lost.
- πΈ Contacts added through SIM-Maps not saved in Google Contacts.
Reconstruction of c SIM-cards (if the number is stored on it)
If you have kept contact with the SIM-The card (not the phoneβs memory) can be returned even after Xiaomi has completely reset, a method that is relevant for older models (Redmi). 4X, Mi A1) or users who specifically transfer contacts to SIM backup.

- Open the Contacts app.
- Slip on three dots in the upper right corner and select Import/Export. β Import with SIM-map.

4. Data recovery programs (without root)
If standard methods do not help, you can try specialized utilities for recovering deleted data.
- π± DroidKit (works without root, restores contacts, messages, photos).
- π± EaseUS MobiSaver (supports) MIUI, scans the internal memory).
- π± GT Recovery (free version with limitations).
How to use (in the example of DroidKit):
- Install the program on your PC and connect Xiaomi over USB (enable USB Debugging in Settings β About Phone β MIUI version β tap 7 times, then return to Additional β For Developers).
- Select the Android Data Recovery mode.
- Check Contacts and click Next.
- The program will scan the phone and show the numbers available for recovery.
Warnings:
- π Free versions of software often show "ghost" contacts (already overwritten data).
- π Do not install programs on your phone β they can overwrite deleted data.
- π If more than a month has passed after removal, the chances of recovery are close to zero.
Why not use root access programs?
5. Appeal in support of Xiaomi (extreme case)
If the number was critical (such as a working contact or data for two-factor authentication), and all methods have been exhausted, you can try contacting official Xiaomi support.
- π Support does not guarantee data recovery β it depends on the backup retention policy.
- π Proof of ownership of the phone (checks) will be required, IMEI).
- π The process can take up to 14 days.
How to make a request:
- Go to the Xiaomi support website.
- Select Online Service β Submit a Request.
- Fill out the form by specifying: Phone model (e.g. Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G). IMEI (find Settings β About Phone β All specs). Deletion date. Linked Mi Account.
Attach screenshots (for example, call histories, where you can see a missed call from the desired number).
Alternatively, if Xiaomi doesn't respond, try tweeting to Xiaomi or to the Mi Community forum.

Official Xiaomi support can only help if the number was deleted no more than 7 days ago and the phone has not been reset.
6. How to avoid future contact loss
To avoid the problem of remote numbers, set up automatic backup on Xiaomi:
| Reservation method | How to turn it on | Frequency of update | Advantages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Cloud | Settings β Mi Account β Mi Cloud β Contacts (enable synchronization) | Every 24 hours. | Recovery in 1 click, history of changes in 30 days |
| Google Contacts | Settings β Accounts β Google β Contact Synchronization | Real-time. | Access from any device, integration with Gmail |
| Local backup | Settings β Additional β Backup and Reset β Local Backup | Manually. | It is not dependent on the Internet, stored on the phone or SD-map |
| Exports to VCF | Open βContactsβ β Three Points β Exports | Manually. | The file can be sent to the mail or cloud. |
Additional advice:
- π Use Contact Protection in the MIUI: Settings β Confidentiality β Contact protection (prevents applications from changing the phone book).
- π Check your backups regularly: Go to Mi Cloud and make sure the latest copy is up to date.
- π For business contacts, duplicate them to Google Contacts and Mi Cloud at the same time.
A critical mistake many users make is to turn off sync to save battery power, result in data loss when a phone is reset or broken, and enable sync at least once a week, which will save you from problems in the future.
