Xiaomi's baby mode is a useful feature for content control, but sometimes it becomes a headache. Have you forgotten your password? Has your child accidentally activated the restrictions? Or just want to get back full access to the settings? In this article, we will analyze all working ways to disable the child mode on Mi models. TV 4/4A/4S/5, Redmi Smart TV and others, including bypassing through hidden menus, resetting settings and even ADB-Teams for Advanced Users.
The complexity of the procedure depends on the firmware version and the TV model. On new devices (2022-2026), Xiaomi has tightened the protection, so a standard password reset may not work. We tested all methods on current versions of PatchWall 4.0+ and prepared alternative solutions for each case. If you are not sure of your actions, start with the safest ways (sections 2β3) and then move on to radical measures (sections 5β6).
β οΈ Important: Some methods require a TV connection to the Internet or USB-If you have a model of Xiaomi. TV completely blocked (does not respond to the remote), first check the section about the hardware reset.
Why is the TV locked in the childrenβs mode?
Kids Mode or Parental Control on Xiaomi TV is activated in three ways:
- π Manual setting: you have included restrictions in the Settings menu β Account and security β Child mode and set a password.
- πΆ Accidental tap: A child or other user can activate the mode via quick settings (Kids button on the remote or in the top panel).
- π¦ Automatic locking: on some models (e.g. Mi) TV 5 Pro) the mode is activated when you first connect to Wi-Fi, unless you turn it off in the setup wizard.
The main problem is the forgotten password. Xiaomi does not set the default code (unlike Samsung or LG, which often runs 0000 or 1234). If you haven't changed the password, try the combinations in the table below. If you have, go to the reset sections.
| Model TV set | Standard password (if not changed) | Firmware version |
|---|---|---|
| Mi TV 4A/4S (2018β2020) | 123456 or 000000 | PatchWall 2.0β3.5 |
| Mi TV 5/5 Pro (2021β2023) | No standard (requires creation) | PatchWall 4.0+ |
| Redmi Smart TV (all models) | 654321 (sometimes working) | Anybody. |
| Mi TV Q1/Q2 (2022β2026) | No standard. | PatchWall 5.0 |
π Tip: If the TV is connected to a Xiaomi account, the password from the child mode may match the password from the Mi Account.
Method 1: Standard deactivation through password
If you remember the password or picked it up from the table above, you can turn off the child mode in 30 seconds:
- Press the Menu button (or Settings on new models) on the remote.
- Go to Settings β Account and Security β Childrenβs Mode.
- Enter the password and select Disable Child Mode.
- Confirm the action (some models will need to enter the password again).
β οΈ Note: On the firmware PatchWall 4.0+ After the mode is turned off, the TV may require a reboot. Don't turn it off the socket - use the Restart button on the menu.
Check the remote connection (replace the batteries if necessary)
Make sure the TV is connected to the internet (to sync settings)
Remember or record the current image/sound settings (they may reset)
Prepare a spare remote (in case the main one is blocked)
-->
If the password doesnβt fit or youβve forgotten it, go to the next method.
Method 2: Resetting the child mode password
Xiaomi TVs with firmware older than PatchWall 3.0 have a hidden password reset feature through the service menu, which works on most models, but requires the exact following of the instructions:
- Turn off the TV with a button on the remote (not from the socket!).
- Press and hold the Menu + Volume Down button (or Home + Back on new remotes) for 10 seconds.
- Without releasing buttons, turn on the TV with the power button on the case.
- Wait for the service menu (usually a blue or green screen with English text).
- Go to Factory Reset or Parental Control Reset (use the Volume buttons for navigation).
- Select Reset Kids Mode Password and confirm the action.
π§ Technical details: On some models (Mi) TV 5 Pro) service menus may require input of manufacturer code: standard combinations: 3308, 6543 or 1147. If they do not work, try method 4 (via ADB).
What to do if the service menu is not opened?
Once you reset your password, your child mode will automatically shut down, but all personal settings (Wi-Fi, accounts, apps) will remain intact. If this method does not work, move on to the next one.
Method 3: Complete reset (Hard Reset)
If previous methods failed, the radical solution is to completely reset the TV to factory settings, which will delete all data, including installed apps, accounts and image settings, but guaranteed to remove the lock on the child mode.
π Important: Before resetting, disconnect the TV from your Mi Account (if you remember the password), otherwise you may need to re-authorize after the reboot.
Instructions for Hard Reset:
- Open the settings menu: Settings β Device β Reset and Update.
- Select Factory Data Reset (Factory Data Reset).
- Enter a password from Child Mode (if requested) or standard PIN-code 1234.
- Confirm the action and wait for the reboot (it will take 3-5 minutes).
β οΈ Attention: On Xiaomi TVs 2023β2026 years TV Q1/Q2, Redmi Smart Fire TV) After the reset, you may need to confirm via the Mi Home app. If you do not have access to the linked account, use the method. 4 (ADB).
| Model | Time to reset | Is a Mi Account Required After a Reset? |
|---|---|---|
| Mi TV 4A/4S | 2-3 minutes | No. |
| Mi TV 5 Pro | 4-5 minutes | Yes (if tied up) |
| Redmi Smart TV X | 3 minutes. | Only for Fire. TV-version |
π‘
Hard Reset is a reliable but extreme method, and only use it if other methods fail, because all data will be lost.
Method 4: Disable Child Mode via ADB (for Advanced)
If standard methods donβt help and resetting is impossible (for example, due to binding to Mi Account), you can use the Android debugging bridge (ADB). This method is suitable for Android models TV (Mi TV 5, Redmi Smart TV with PatchWall 4.0 firmware+).
β οΈ Warning: The wrong teams ADB If you're not sure what you're doing, skip this section.
