Why do you need Redmi 10 and when to do it?
Resetting the Xiaomi Redmi 10 to factory settings is a radical but sometimes necessary step to restore the smartphone to work, which removes all user data, applications and settings, returning the device to the βout of the boxβ state, most often resorted to in three cases:
First, if the smartphone started to slow down or spontaneously reboot after the MIUI update. This is a typical problem for Redmi budget models, where limited resources (4 GB of RAM and Helio G88 processor) do not always cope with new versions of the firmware. Second, the reset helps in preparing the phone for sale - so that the new owner does not get access to your accounts and files. And finally, this is the only way to fix the critical error when the Redmi 10 does not load beyond the Xiaomi logo (the so-called "bootloop").
But it's important to understand that resetting is not a panacea, that if the problem is caused by physical damage (such as falling or getting moisture), software manipulation will not help, and that it's useless to drop your phone if the battery or Wi-Fi module malfunctions, which requires repairs at the service center.
Preparation for resetting: what to do in advance
Before you start resetting, follow a few critical steps, which can result in losing access to your Mi Account and locking your phone after a reset (if you have factory-operated Find Device protection enabled).
First, back up all your important data. Redmi 10 has two ways of doing this:
- π± Local Saving: Go to Settings β The phone. β Backup and select "Device Memory Backup" minus the files will remain on the phone and will be deleted when you reset, so after you create the copy, transfer it to your PC.
- βοΈ Cloud Saving: Use Mi Cloud (Xiaomi account required). Go to Settings β Xiaomi account β Mi Cloud β Backup and select the data you need (contacts, SMS, Photos and videos should be uploaded separately to Google Photos.
Next, untie all accounts:
- π Delete your Xiaomi account in Settings β Xiaomi account β Get out (if your phone is synced to Mi Cloud).
- π§ Remove your Google account through Settings β Accounts. β Google β Delete the account.
- π³ Deactivate your linked bank cards in Google Pay or Mi Pay.
β οΈ Note: If you forgot the password from your Xiaomi account, but you turned on the Find Device function, after resetting the phone will require you to enter the username and password from the previous account!

Method 1: Reset via the settings menu (the safest)
This is the main method recommended by Xiaomi for all models, including the Redmi 10, and its advantage is simplicity and minimal risk of errors.
Step instructions:
- Open Settings (the gear icon on the main screen).
- Scroll down and select About Phone.
- Slip on backup and reset.
- Select Settings Reset.
- Click Delete all data (in some versions of MIUI, the item may be called Factory Reset).
- Enter. PIN-code or pattern lock if the system requests.
- Confirm the action by clicking Reset the phone.
It takes 3-5 minutes. The phone will reboot, and you will see the screen of the initial settings, as after the purchase. If after the reset Redmi 10 requires you to enter your Xiaomi account information, but you do not remember them, use the password recovery service.
π‘
If the phone hangs on the Xiaomi logo for longer than 10 minutes after reset, don't panic. Turn it off with a long press on the power button (15-20 seconds), then turn it on again. This usually helps.
Method 2: Reset via Recovery Mode (if the phone is not turned on)
If Redmi 10 doesnβt load beyond the logo, stays on the update screen, or doesnβt respond to the power button at all, youβll have to use Recovery Mode, which is more complicated, but itβs the only one that works when there are serious software failures.
Algorithm of action:
- Turn off the phone (if it freezes, hold the power button for 20-30 seconds).
- Press the Power button and the Volume Up button at the same time.
- Hold them for 10-15 seconds until the Mi logo and Recovery menu appear.
- In the Recovery menu, use the volume buttons for navigation and the power button for selection.
- Select Wipe Data (in some versions β Wipe & Reset).
- Confirm the action by selecting Wipe All Data.
- Once completed, select Reboot to reboot.
Important: In Recovery Mode, the touch screen doesn't work -- it's only physical buttons that control it. If you accidentally chose the wrong item (like Reboot to Bootloader), it's okay -- just repeat the procedure again.
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Phone is not included in Recovery | Wrong combination of buttons or battery drained | Charge the phone for 30 minutes, then try again. Make sure you're squeezing the power + volume up. |
| Recovery menu does not include Wipe Data | Custom firmware is installed (for example, LineageOS) | Use Factory Reset or Format Data. If the menu is in English, look for the word "wipe". |
| After reset, the phone asks for a password from the Mi Account | The Find Device function has been activated. | Enter the Xiaomi account that was linked before the reset, and if you don't remember, reset the password on the Xiaomi site. |
β οΈ Note: If you see the No command sign on the Recovery menu with the Android robot lying down, it means that the recovery system is damaged. In this case, only flashing through the Fastboot will help (see Method 3).
Method 3: Hard reset via Mi Unlock Tool (for power users)
This method requires a computer and special software Mi Unlock Tool, which is needed in extreme cases:
- π If you have forgotten your pattern lock or password and Find Device is disabled.
- π± If the phone is not updated after an unsuccessful update MIUI It's turned into a brick).
- π If previous methods of resetting have not worked.
The work will require:
- π» Windows computer 7/10/11 (MacOS Mi Unlock Tool is not working).
- π Cable USB (Preferably original from Xiaomi).
- π₯ Mi Unlock Tool (download only from the official website!).
- π Charge of the phone at least 60%.
Step-by-step:
- Install Mi Unlock Tool on your PC and run the program on behalf of the administrator.
- Turn off Redmi 10 and put it into Fastboot mode: Press the Power Button + Volume down for 10 seconds.
- Connect your phone to your computer via USB.
- In the Mi Unlock Tool program, press Agree, then Unlock.
- Wait until the process is completed (it can take up to 10 minutes).
- After the Unlocked successfully label appears, turn off your phone and turn it on as normal.
This method will completely unlock the bootloader, which allows you to install custom firmware later, but it resets all the security settings, so after the procedure, it is recommended:
- π Enable data encryption in Settings β Additionally. β Confidentiality β Encryption.
- π‘οΈ Activate Find Device to protect against theft.
