All the instructions are tested on Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Redmi Note 11 Pro+, POCO F5 and Black Shark 5 Pro models. If your model is older than 2019 (for example, Redmi 5 or Mi 8), some methods may not work β outdated Xiaomi devices block bootloader unlocking through official tools.
1. unlock the Xiaomi screen without reset (unless the Mi Account is tied)
If you just forgot the PIN- code, pattern lock or password, but the phone is not tied to the Mi Account, you can try to unlock it without losing data. This method works on MIUI 12-15 and HyperOS, but requires access to ADB (debugging USB must be enabled before blocking).
1 step: Connect your phone to your PC via the USB- cable (preferably original). Make sure that the Xiaomi and ADB drivers are installed on your computer (you can download from the official Android Studio website).
Step 2. Open the command line (Win + R β enter cmd) and execute the commands:
adb shell
su
rm /data/system/gesture.key
rm /data/system/password.key
rm /data/system/locksettings.db
rm /data/system/locksettings.db-wal
rm /data/system/locksettings.db-shm
rebootStep 3. After restarting, the phone unlocks, but you may need to install a new PIN- code.
- π The phone is linked to the Mi Account (you will need to enter a login / password after unlocking).
- π± Debugging by USB (USB Debugging) was disabled prior to locking.
- π‘οΈ Encryption (File-Based Encryption) is enabled. FBE).
βοΈ Pre-unlock check ADB
If the commands didnβt work, try an alternative way through fastboot (more in the next section).
2. Unlock via Fastboot (if debugging over USB is disabled)
If the ADB is not available but the phone can be fastbooted, try resetting the lock via the Mi Flash Tool or EDL- Mode. This method deletes all data but bypasses the lock screen.
Step 1. Turn off the phone. Press the Power button + Volume down until the Fastboot logo appears (Android robot labeled FASTBOOT).
Step 2. Download the Mi Flash Tool from the official Xiaomi website (the version for your model) and firmware in.tgz or.zip format. Unpack the firmware in a folder without Cyrillic characters.
Step 3. In the Mi Flash Tool, select the firmware folder, connect the phone in fastboot mode, and press Refresh. The device must be determined. Then select Clean All mode and press Flash.
π‘
If the Mi Flash Tool doesnβt see the device, try reinstalling the drivers manually through Device Manager (select βXiaomi Composite MDB Interfaceβ).
Warning: This method deletes all data, including photos, messages and apps. If encryption has been enabled on the phone, you may need to enter a password from your Mi Account after you have firmware.
β οΈ Note: On Xiaomi models with a Qualcomm processor (e.g., Redmi Note 10 Pro), POCO X3 Pro) an Anti Rollback error may appear after fastboot firmware. EDL-Itβs only for experienced users!
3. Unblocking Mi Account after Reset (FRP bypass)
If you reset your phone via Recovery or fastboot, but after you turn on Xiaomi requires you to enter data from your Mi Account (the so-called FRP- lock), you can bypass it in several ways. The official method is to restore access to your account through account.xiaomi.com. If this is not possible, try the following options:
Method 1. Via SIM- card (for MIUI 12-14)
- π Insert the SIM- card in the phone that was in it before the reset.
- π Reset the device.
- π© A SMS notification with an unlock code may appear on the lock screen (not working on all models).
Method 2. Through Test Point (for power users)
On some models (Redmi 9, POCO M3) you can activate EDL- mode via Test Point (special contacts on the motherboard).
- π οΈ Phone disassembly (risk of damage!)
- π» Mi Flash Pro or QFilm.
- π Firmware in.mbn format for your model.
What is it? EDL-regime?
Method 3: Official request for unlocking
If the phone is officially purchased (not "gray" imports), you can contact Xiaomi support with a check about the purchase.
- Go to the support page.
- Select Unlock Device β Mi Account Unlock.
- Download scans of the check, box and IMEI phone (you can find out IMEI via *#06# or on the sticker under the battery).
β οΈ Warning: Xiaomi may refuse to unlock if the phone was purchased from an unofficial seller or more than 30 days after purchase, in which case only the firmware via EDL or the service center is left.
4.Official bootloader unlock via Mi Unlock Tool
If you want to install custom firmware (like LineageOS or Pixel Experience) or get root rights, you first need to unlock the bootloader. Xiaomi allows you to do this officially through the Mi Unlock Tool utility, but with restrictions:
Requirements for unlocking:
- π± The phone must be linked to a Mi Account (the same account as the device).
- π The account must have a phone number and email confirmed.
- β³ 7 days must pass from the moment of linking the account to the phone (for new devices).
- πΆ The phone must have internet access (Wi-Fi or mobile network).
Step-by-step:
- Download Mi Unlock Tool from the official website (version for Windows).
- Turn on the phone: π§ Settings β About Phone β Version MIUI (click 7 times to activate Developer Mode). π Settings β Additional β For Developers β Unlock OEM (enable). π₯οΈ Debugging on USB (ibid.).

Couldnβt unlock
| Xiaomi model | Unlocking Support (2026) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/14 series | β Yes. | It takes 7 days to wait |
| Redmi Note 12/13 series | β Yes. | Some regional versions have longer locks |
| POCO F5/X5 | β Yes. | Global versions are unlocked faster |
| Redmi 9/10 (2020β2021) | β οΈ Partially. | You may need EDL- mode. |
| Xiaomi Mi 8/9 (2018β2019) | β No. | Official unlock closed |
On models older than 2019 (e.g. Xiaomi Mi 9, Redmi Note 7), the official unlocking of the bootloader via the Mi Unlock Tool no longer works. They will require the use of informal methods (e.g., via Fastboot exploits or EDL), but this is risky and can lead to a βbrickβ.
5. unlock Xiaomi with damaged screen
If the phone screen crashes or doesnβt respond to touch, but the device turns on, you can try unlocking it via USB-OTG or HDMI- Output (if supported).
Method 1. Connecting the mouse via USB-OTG
- π±οΈ Buy a USB-OTG adapter (Type-C or Micro-USB, depending on the model).
- π Put it on the phone. USB-mouse.
- π If the screen is working but does not respond to touch, you can use the mouse to enter a password or reset via Settings.
Method 2: Output of the image on the TV (Miracast/HDMI)
Some Xiaomi models (e.g. Black Shark 4, Xiaomi 11T) support HDMI or Miracast image output.
- Connect your phone to your TV via USB-C β HDMI adapter.
- Or activate the Wireless Display in Settings β Connections β Screen Transfer (if the screen is partially working).
- Control your phone with a mouse or touchpad (if the keyboard is connected).
Method 3: Unlocking via fastboot (if the screen doesn't work at all)
If the screen is completely black, but the phone is turning on (vibrates, makes sounds), try:
- Transfer the device to fastboot (clamp Power + Volume down for 10 seconds).
- Swipe your phone through the Mi Flash Tool (as described in Section 2).
β οΈ Warning: If the screen is unresponsive but the phone is locked with a Mi Account, it's almost impossible to unlock it without a working display, and that leaves you with just changing the screen or contacting the service center.
6. Alternative methods: unlocking through service centers and third-party services
If none of the above methods work, there are two options:
1. Official Xiaomi Service Center
The cost of unlocking in official Xiaomi services in Russia and the CIS:
- π Screen unlock (no data loss): 1,500β3,000 β½.
- π§ Unblocking Mi Account (FRP): 2,000β4,000 β½.
- π± Unlock bootloader (if the official method doesn't work): 3,000β6,000 β½.
2. Third-party services (at your own risk!)
There are many services on the Internet that offer Xiaomi remote unlocking (for example, through TeamViewer).
- π΅οΈββοΈ Fraud (payment without result)
- π Data theft (if you are transferring access to your Mi Account).
- π₯ Phone damage (incorrect firmware).
How to choose a reliable service?
Check it out.
- β Ratings on independent sites (e.g., Otzovic).
- π The presence of real reviews with photo/video results.
- π³ Possibility of payment after the work is done (for example, through a secure transaction on Avito).
π‘
An official service center is the most reliable, but also the most expensive way. Third-party services may offer unlocking cheaper, but the risk of fraud or damage to the phone is very high.
