Xiaomi Redmi 9A is one of the most popular budget smartphones, but even it sometimes requires a restart. System freeze, slow operation or preparation for an upgrade - the reasons can be different. In this article, you will find all possible ways to reboot, including forced restart and reset via Recovery Mode, as well as solving typical problems.
We're going to look at not only standard methods, but also the hidden features of MIUI that will help bring a smartphone back to life if it stops responding to clicks, and focus on data security β how to reboot without losing photos, contacts and apps.
1. Soft reboot: the standard method
The easiest and safest method is software-based reboot via the smartphone menu, which is suitable if the Redmi 9A responds to touch, but works unstable (for example, brakes or warms up).

- π± Press and hold the power button (located on the right end) for a period of time. 2-3 seconds.
- π In the menu that appears, select Reboot (or Restart in English firmware).
- β³ Wait. 30-60 Seconds β the smartphone will turn off and turn on automatically.
This method doesn't delete data or reset settings, it's similar to a computer reboot, and it helps in 80 percent of the time-related freezes.
π‘
If the power button does not respond, try to connect the charger - sometimes the smartphone "wakes up" when a power source appears.
2. Forced reboot: if the smartphone freezes
When the Redmi 9A completely stops responding to touches and buttons, a hardware restart is required, which simulates battery extraction (although it is not removable in the Redmi 9A) and resets all current processes.
Instructions for forced reset:
- π Hold the power button and volume button at the same time.
- β±οΈ Keep them at least. 10-15 Even if the screen goes out earlier.
- π± When the Xiaomi (or Redmi) logo appears on the screen, release the buttons.
After that, the smartphone will start in normal mode, and if the screen remains black for more than 20 seconds, repeat the procedure or move to the next method.
β οΈ Attention: Forced reboot interrupts all background processes. If you were updating the system or recording a video at the time of the freeze, the data may be lost.
3.Reboot through Recovery Mode: When nothing helps
If the smartphone is turned on but does not load beyond the Xiaomi logo, or cyclically restarted (bootloop), Recovery Mode will help. This is a service menu that allows you to reset settings or reinstall firmware.
How to Sign In to Recovery on Redmi 9A
- π Turn off your smartphone (if itβs on, hold the power button for 5 seconds).
- π Press the power button and increase volume at the same time.
- π± Release the buttons when the menu with the Mi Bunny logo appears on the screen (rabbit in the eardress cap).
In the Recovery menu, use volume buttons for navigation and power buttons for selection.

6. Solving problems after the reboot
Sometimes, after a restart, the Redmi 9A behaves incorrectly, so let's look at the typical situations and how to fix them.
