How to untie the Xiaomi remote from the TV or console: all working methods

Xiaomi smart TVs and consoles are often equipped with proprietary Bluetooth or IR-enabled remotes. But what if you need to reconfigure the remote to another device, sell it or simply eliminate conflicts when connecting? Remote undressing is a procedure that owners of Mi TV, Mi Box and other ecosystem devices face. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to break the connection between the remote and equipment, including hidden functions and solutions for non-standard situations.

The main problem is that the manufacturer does not always provide an obvious “untie” button in the interface. Moreover, some models of remotes (for example, Xiaomi Mi Remote Pro or Bluetooth remotes for Mi TV 4S/5) can “remember” the last connected device and automatically sync with it when you turn on. 1. Standard resetting of communication through the TV menu

The most reliable way to untie the remote is to use the built-in settings of Xiaomi TV or Mi Box. The main condition is that you must have access to the TV menu (for example, through the second remote, mouse or the Mi Remote application on your smartphone).

2. Go to Devices → Remote and Accessories (on some firmware, the path may differ: System → Input Devices).
3. Select the connected remote from the list. If you don't have one, click Add Accessory and wait for the device to appear.
4. Click on the cart icon or select the Delete/Forget device option.
5. Confirm the action. The remote will be disabled and it can be synchronized with another device.

If you don't have access to the TV menu (for example, when you sell a device or break a screen), you can use a hardware reset remote, which works for most Xiaomi Bluetooth remotes, including the Mi Remote, Mi Game Controller and the remotes for the Mi Projector. The button combination simulates factory reset, erasing all stored connections.

1. Take the remote and turn it upside down.

4. Resetting the TV to factory settings

The extreme but effective method is to completely reset your TV or Xiaomi set-top box, which will remove all stored connections, including remotes, accounts and user settings, and only use this method if other options have failed, as you will need to reset the device after the reset.

How to perform the reset:

1. Open Settings → About TV → Reset and Recovery.
2. Select Reset to factory settings.
3. Enter. PIN-code (by default 0000 or 1234 if you have not changed it).
4. Confirm action. The TV will reboot and return to its original settings.
