We will also address the security issues of your Google account and Mi Account so that you do not experience a device lock after a reboot. Be prepared for the fact that the process requires care, since it will be impossible to return deleted files without a preliminary copy.
Preparing the smartphone for a complete reset
Before starting the mechanism of data destruction, you need to conduct thorough preparation. Ignoring this stage can lead to loss of important information or problems with activating the device after restarting. Backup is the first and most important step that should not be missed under any circumstances.
Make sure the battery level is at least 50-60%. If the Xiaomi smartphone is turned off due to battery discharge during the formatting process, this can damage the system partitions and turn the device into a “brick.” Also check for a stable Wi-Fi connection if you plan to synchronize data before reset.

The algorithm of actions can vary slightly depending on the version of the MIUI shell or HyperOS.
To start, open the Settings app. In the top search box, you can type in a Reset or Recovery request, which will immediately redirect you to the desired section. However, it is safer to manually go through the way to make sure that the options you select are correct. You need to find the About Phone or Advanced Settings section, where the system management functions usually hide.
In newer versions of firmware, the path often looks like: Settings → About Phone → Reset. In older versions of MIUI, it can be Settings → Advanced Settings → Recovery and Reset. The interface may change, but the essence remains the same – finding the item containing the words “Reset” or “Recovery”.
After going to the reset menu, the system will offer two options: Reset (without deleting files) and Erase all data (full format). We are interested in the second option, the system will issue a warning that all data will be deleted, and ask you to enter a pattern lock or PIN-screen unlock code to confirm the operation.

Formatting with Recovery Mode (Hard Reset)

From the device management menu, select the option “Wipe Device” (Wipe Device), the system will warn that all data will be deleted irrevocably, after confirmation, the command will go to the smartphone, and it will begin the formatting process even if the screen is locked.
