Forgot the pattern lock, the phone hangs on the Mi logo, or the system crashes? In 80% of cases, hardware resets help - returning the smartphone to factory settings without using menus. On Xiaomi devices (including Redmi, POCO, Black Shark), this is done by a combination of physical buttons - even if the screen does not respond to touch.

Important: the method works on Mi 5/6/8/9/10/11/12/13/14, Redmi Note 4-12, POCO F1-F5 and other models, but not suitable for devices with a damaged motherboard. If the phone does not turn on even after charging, the problem may be in the hardware.

1. What buttons are used to reset
On all Xiaomi smartphones, the hardware reset is triggered via Recovery Mode, and you only need two buttons to get into it:
- 🔘 Power button - usually on the right. On some models (e.g. Mi Mix) 2S) may be on the upper edge.
- 🔼 Volume Up button – always left, top of two.
Older models (before 2017) sometimes require Volume Down (bottom volume button), but in 95% of cases Power + Volume Up is enough. Except for devices with a MediaTek processor (for example, Redmi 4A or Redmi 5A), where the combination may differ.
⚠️ Note: If your Xiaomi is equipped with an infrared port (e.g. Mi) 5X Redmi Note 5, don’t confuse it with a microphone – it’s the physical buttons you need to press, not the sensors!

In the models with AMOLED-With screens (like the Mi 11 Ultra), buttons can appear "sunk." Press them with effort, but without fanaticism -- a click is easy enough.
2. Step-by-step instruction: how to make a reset
The procedure takes 5-10 minutes, and the main thing is not to interrupt it, otherwise the phone may stop turning on.
- Turn off the phone (if it's on). To do this, press the Power for 10-15 seconds. If the screen doesn't go out, remove the battery (if it's removable) or wait for the battery to run out completely.
- Press the button combination: 🔹 For Qualcomm Snapdragon (most flagships): Power + Volume Up. 🔹 For MediaTek (budget models): Power + Volume Up + Volume Down (at the same time!).
Hold the buttons for 10-20 seconds until the Mi logo or Fastboot appears. Some models (POCO X3, Redmi Note 10) will first light up a red indicator – this is normal.
Release the buttons when you see the Recovery menu (usually in English or Chinese). If an Android robot with an exclamation point appears, press Power again.
Select Wipe Data (or Clear Data) to manage:
- 🔼/🔽 Volume Up/Down — menu-walk.
- 🔘 Power - Selecting a Point.
- Confirm the reset (usually Confirm or Yes) and then the phone will reboot automatically.
⚠️ Note: On models with locked bootloader (Mi 13, Redmi) K50) A long stay in Fastboot can lead to automatic flashing (if connected to a PC with the Mi Flash Tool installed!
