Your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO is stuck on the logo and doesn't turn on any further? It's a classic bootloop, a cyclical reboot where the system can't complete the start. The reasons range from a failure after a MIUI update to damage to the /data partition or a failed rooting. In 80 percent of cases, you can solve the problem yourself - without a service center and loss of photos.
We tested all the current methods on models from 2020 to 2026 (including Xiaomi 13T, Redmi Note 12 and POCO F5) and selected only those that work without special equipment. Importantly, if the bootloop arose after unlocking the bootloader or installing custom firmware, immediately go to the section about Fastboot. For the rest, start with the simplest method.
How to determine the cause of a bootloop on Xiaomi
Before you start repairing, you need to understand why the smartphone is stuck on the logo, which will help you choose the right method of recovery and avoid repeated failure.
- π Cyclical reboot (Xiaomi logo) β black-screen β logo again - damaged section /system boot-like.
- π± Hanging on a single screen (logo or animation) MIUI) β Problem with drivers or application conflict in /data.
- β‘ Bootloop after update - incompatibility of the version MIUI with iron (often found on older models of the Redmi type) 4X prior MIUI 14).
- π§ Appearance after rooting β damaged bootloader or incorrectly installed Magisk.
If the bootloop occurred after a drop or moisture, the problem may be hardware (the battery plume is gone or the memory is damaged), in which case the software methods will not help - you need a diagnosis in the service. In all other cases, try the solutions below, starting with the safest one.
Method 1: Forced Reboot (Soft Reboot)
The easiest way, which works in 30% of cases, is to reset hardware without data loss, which is suitable if the bootloop is caused by a temporary system failure (for example, after installing an application or turning off the application incorrectly).
Instructions:
- Press the Power + Volume button up for 15-20 seconds.
- Release the buttons when the screen goes out (even if the logo keeps flashing).
- Wait 2-3 minutes β the smartphone should boot in normal mode.
If you then go back into the bootloops, the problem is deeper. Go to the next method.
π‘
On some models (such as Black Shark 5) to force a reboot, you need to pinch Power + Volume up + Volume down at the same time.
Method 2: Safe Mode booting
If the bootloop is caused by an application conflict (for example, after installing a launcher or a Magisk module), Safe Mode will help, it only loads system services, and third-party programs are disabled.
How to Sign In to Safe Mode on Xiaomi:
- Turn off the phone (press Power + Volume up for 10 seconds).
- When the Xiaomi logo appears, immediately press and hold the Loudness button down until the Safe Mode inscription appears at the bottom of the screen.
- In Safe Mode, remove newly installed apps or roll back updates through Settings β Apps.
If the smartphone is working properly in Safe Mode, the problem is exactly in the software. After removing the "culprit", restart the device as normal.
What to do if you canβt log in to Safe Mode?
Method 3: Recovery reset (without data loss)
If previous methods didnβt work, try clearing the cache through a stock recavator. This wonβt delete your data, but will reset temporary files that can block download.
Step-by-step:
βοΈ Preparing for resetting through Recovery
- Turn off the phone (as in Method 1).
- Press Power + Volume up before the Mi Recovery logo appears.
- In the Recovery menu, select the language (if you have an option), then:
If the bootloop repeats after cleaning the cache, go back to the recavator and select Wipe Data β Wipe All Data. This will delete all user data, but 90% of the time solves the bootloop problem on the MIUI stock firmware.
π‘
Resetting through the Recovery is the safest way, but it will not help if the boot section itself is damaged or the firmware is installed curved.
Method 4: Fastboot Flashing (for experienced ones)
If the bootloop is caused by corrupting system files (for example, after a failed update or rooting), you will need to flash through Fastboot. This method requires a PC and official firmware for your model.
What you need:
- π» Computer with Windows/Linux and installed Xiaomi drivers (download from the official website).
- π Cable USB (preferably original).
- π Firmware in.tgz or.zip format for your model (for example, cactus_global_images_V14.0.2.0.TMAMIXM_20231010.0000.00_13.0_global For the Redmi Note 10).
- π The Mi Flash Tool (download here).
Instructions:
- Unpack the firmware in a folder without Cyrillic characters (for example, C:\MIUI\cactus).
- Turn off the phone and press Power + Volume down to enter the Fastboot (a hare in a hat-eared hat will appear).
- Connect your phone to your PC and start the Mi Flash Tool.
- In the program, click Select, specify the path to the folder with the firmware, then Refresh (should appear). COM-port).
- Select Clean All (Saves Data) or Clean All and Lock (Full Clean + Lock bootloader), then Flash.
It takes 5-10 minutes. Once it's done, the phone automatically restarts. If the firmware fits your model, the bootloop will be eliminated.
π‘
If the Mi Flash Tool is an anti-rollback error, you are trying to install an older version of MIUI than the one before, in which case you need to download a new firmware or use FastbootD to bypass the restriction.
Method 5: EDL mode (extreme case)
If none of these methods work, the Emergency Download Mode (EDL) mode is still available, and it allows you to flash your phone even with a damaged bootloader, but you need to:
- π§ Unlocked loader (if it was blocked).
- π° Authorized Xiaomi account (for new models from 2022).
- π‘ Special cable or testpoint (for some devices).
Instructions for entering the EDL:
- Turn off the phone.
- Press Power + Volume up + Volume down for 10 seconds at the same time (some models need to first connect the cable to the PC).
- The screen must remain black β check if the device in Device Manager is identified as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
- Use the Mi Flash Tool or QFil to firmware the full image (file with.mbn extension).
β οΈ Attention: Regime EDL It can lock your phone if you use unofficial firmware on anti-rollback models.
| Xiaomi model | Supports EDL without authorization | Testpoint required. |
|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 8/9/10 | Yes. | No. |
| Xiaomi 11/12/13 | No (authorized account required) | Yes. |
| POCO F3/F4/F5 | Yes (to MIUI 14) | No. |
| Black Shark 4/5 | Yes. | Yes (to unlock the bootloader) |
How to avoid a bootloom in the future
To avoid running into the bootloop again, follow these rules:
- π Update. MIUI Only through official channels (Settings) β The phone. β System updates: Avoid castom builds from third parties.
- π§ Root carefully: use only the latest version of Magisk and proven modules. Before installation, backup through the TWRP.
- π± Do not turn off your phone while updating or copying large files (partition damage risk) /data).
- π Keep an eye on the charge: if the battery is under 15%, donβt install updates β this can interrupt the process.
If you often experiment with firmware, keep on hand:
- π Stock firmware for your model (download in advance with Xiaomi Firmware Updater).
- π Unlock Tool to unlock the bootloader (if you plan to root).
- πΎ backup EFS (file IMEI and serial numbers - without it after resetting, the network may disappear).
β οΈ Note: On Xiaomi models from 2023 to 2026 (e.g. Xiaomi 14 or Redmi Note 13), custom firmware installation may result in hard-brick (complete iron failure) due to Anti-Rollback 5 protection+. Before experimenting, check compatibility on forums. 4PDA or XDA.
