Log in to Xiaomi web interface: where to start
Xiaomi routers (Mi Router, Redmi Router, AX3000/AX6000 series) provide advanced settings through the web interface, but many users face difficulties when first logging in. The main problem is not knowing the standard data for authorization or previously changed parameters. In this article, we will analyze all the current ways to log into the admin panel, including bypassing typical errors.
It's important to understand that the modem web interface is not the same as the Mi Wi-Fi mobile application. The first one gives you full control over the network (IPv6, VLAN, DDNS settings), the second one is simplified access to basic functions. If you need to change your Wi-Fi channel, set up a guest network or update your firmware, you can't do without logging into the control panel.
Modern models (Xiaomi Router AX6000, Redmi Router AC2100) support two types of authorization:
- ๐ Login/password โ standard method (often an empty password or combination by default) admin/admin).
- ๐ฑ QR-code โ an alternative way through the Mi Wi-Fi app (requires a Xiaomi account binding).
Standard way to enter through the browser
The most reliable method is the use of IP-The default for all Xiaomi models is 192.168.31.1 (for some firmware versions, 192.168.0.1:
- Connect your device (PC, smartphone) to the router network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.
- Open your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and type in the address bar: http://192.168.31.1
- Enter your login and password for new routers: ๐ Login: Admin (or leave the field empty). ๐ Password: Admin or the last 8-digit serial number symbol (on the sticker below).
If the page does not open:
- ๐ Check the physical connection of the cable (when using Ethernet).
- ๐ก Make sure you are connected to the correct Wi-Fi network (network name is indicated on the router sticker).
- ๐ Restart the router by holding the Reset button for 5 seconds.

Authorization through QR-code (for new models)
Xiaomi Router models AX3000, AX6000 Redmi Router AC2100 Supports entrance through scanning QR-This is a method that is convenient if you forget the password from the admin panel:
- Install the Mi Wi-Fi app (available for Android and iOS).
- Connect to the router network.
- Open your browser and go to 192.168.31.1 โ the system will offer an option to log in via QR.
- In the Mi Wi-Fi app, go to Devices section โ [Your router] โ Settings and select Scanning QR-code.
โ ๏ธ Note: If the router has not previously been linked to a Xiaomi account, this method will not work.
Advantages of the method:
- ๐ No need to remember the password.
- ๐ก๏ธ Two-factor authentication via Xiaomi account.
- โก Quick access to basic settings.

Password reset and access restoration
If you forget the password from the admin panel, there are two ways to reset it:
1. Hard Reset (Hard Reset)
Press and hold the Reset button (usually located on the back) for 10-15 seconds until the indicators start flashing.
- ๐ Router will return to factory settings.
- ๐ก Wi-Fi network name and password will become standard (indicated on the sticker).
- ๐ The Admin Panel password will be reset to an admin or an empty field.
โ ๏ธ Note: Hardware reset removes all settings, including:
- ๐ก Wi-Fi configuration (network name, password).
- ๐ Port settings (Port Forwarding, DMZ).
- ๐ Parental Control Rules and Device Blacklists.
2. Recovery via Mi Wi-Fi (no reset)
If the router is linked to the Xiaomi account, you can reset the admin panel password without losing settings:
- Open the Mi Wi-Fi app.
- Go to Profile. โ Devices โ [Your router].
- Select Device Management โ Reset the Admin Panel password.
๐ก
Before resetting, save your current settings: take screenshots of Wi-Fi, LAN, and Port Forwarding partitions in the admin panel, which will help you quickly restore configuration.
Common mistakes and their solutions
If the login page does not open or there are authorization errors, check the following points:
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Page's not loading (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED) | Wrong. IP-address or router not responding | Check the router's network connection. Try 192.168.0.1 or miwifi.com |
| Incorrect login/password | The password was changed earlier. | Reset (see section above) or restore via Mi Wi-Fi |
| Redirecting to miwifi.com doesn't work | DNS problems or provider blocking | Use the straight line. IP-address (192.168.31.1) |
| 404 Not Found Error | Outdated firmware or damaged files | Update your firmware via Mi Wi-Fi or manually (see section below) |
If the router says "Device locked," it means there's been too many failed logins.
- ๐ Wait 10-15 minutes and try again.
- ๐ Restart the router (turn off power for 30 seconds).
- ๐ฑ Use the entrance through QR-code (if available).
๐ก
If the router does not respond to the reset button, try holding it for 20-30 seconds. In rare cases, you need to turn off the power for 1 minute before resetting.
Update firmware to fix access issues
Outdated firmware can cause authorization errors or malfunctioning of the web interface.
- Download the latest firmware for your model from the official Xiaomi website (Support โ [Router Model] โ Firmware).
- Connect to the router via cable.
- Go to Settings โ Software Update (or Advanced โ System Tools โ Firmware Upgrade).
- Download the firmware file (.bin) and wait for the process to complete (donโt turn off the power!).
โ ๏ธ Attention: when manually updating:
- ๐ Use a Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to avoid failures.
- ๐ก Do not update your firmware over Wi-Fi โ only via cable.
- ๐ If the router does not turn on after the upgrade, reset (hold Reset for 15 seconds).
For Xiaomi Router 4A Gigabit and newer models, automatic updates via Mi Wi-Fi are available:
- Open the app.
- Go to Devices โ [Your Router] โ Software Update.
- Click Check for Updates and follow the instructions.
Additional ways to manage the router
In addition to the web interface, Xiaomi can be set up through:
- ๐ฑ Mi Wi-Fi mobile application - simplified interface for basic functions (guest network, parental control).
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Telnet/SSH โ for experienced users (requires inclusion in the developer settings).
To enable access over SSH (supported firmware only):
Note: SSH activation disables Xiaomi warranty support, and only use this method if you need deep customization (for example, to install alternative software such as OpenWRT).
