Xiaomi routers often have to log into the device control panel β whether itβs to set up Wi-Fi, change your password, or update your firmware. However, standard login/password combinations donβt always work, especially if youβve used the router before. In this article, weβll look at all the ways you can log into the Mi Router web interface, including resetting your settings and solving typical errors.
Many users mistakenly believe that to access the router, you need to enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser β but thatβs only half the story. It is important to know the correct credentials, understand the differences between models (for example, Mi Router 4A and AX6000 have different factory passwords), and be able to bypass locks. If you forget your password or the router is bought by hand, do not panic: it takes no more than 5 minutes to restore access.
We tested the instructions on the latest firmware in 2026 and took into account the features of the latest models, such as the Xiaomi Router BE7000 and AX3200. All the steps are suitable for routers with Chinese (CN) and global (Global) firmware, but there are nuances β we will talk about them below.
Standard data for entering the Xiaomi router
Most Xiaomi routers use one of three different types of factory credentials, depending on the model, the region of the firmware and the year of release.
| Model router | Login (by default) | Password (default) | IP-panel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Router 4A (Global/CN) | admin | admin | 192.168.31.1 |
| Mi Router 4C | admin | password (Chinese version) | 192.168.31.1 |
| AX3000 / AX6000 | admin | Unique password (on the sticker) | 192.168.31.1 or miwifi.com |
| Router BE7000 | admin | Generated when set up | 192.168.31.1 |
β οΈ Attention: Xiaomi routers with firmware CN (Chinese) often require you to link to your Mi Account when you first sign in, and if you see a request for authorization via your phone, it means that the device is from China, in which case you will need to create a Xiaomi account or reset the settings (more about this below).
On newer models (AX6000, BE7000), the default password is not standard - it is listed on a sticker under the Wi-Fi Password router. If there is no sticker, try an 8-digit combination that can also be printed on the box.
Step-by-step instructions: how to log into the web interface
To open the control panel of the router, perform the following actions:
- Connect to the router network β via Wi-Fi or via LAN-Use a network with a name Xiaomi_XXXX (where XXXX β last-minute MAC-address).
- Open the browser (we recommend Chrome or Firefox) and type in the address bar: π 192.168.31.1 - the main IP most models; π Miwifi.com β an alternative address (not always working); π 192.168.1.1 β Old address, but may work on old firmware.
Enter your login and password
Confirm entrance.

β οΈ Note: If after entering 192.168.31.1, the browser gives an error "Page is not available", check the browser:
- π Are you connected to a router (not another network);
- π Restart the router (with the Reset button for 10 seconds);
- π‘οΈ Turn it off. VPN Proxies β they can block access.

What to do if you forget the password from the Xiaomi router
If the standard combinations donβt work and you donβt remember your data, there are three ways to restore access:
1. Resetting to factory settings is the most reliable method.
- π§ Find the Reset button on the back of the router (usually recessed in the case).
- π Press it with a paper clip or toothpick for 10-15 seconds until the indicators start flashing.
- π After restarting (1-2 minutes), the router will return to factory settings.
β οΈ Warning: Reset will remove all settings, including Wi-Fi name, passwords and associated devices, and if you have guest network or parental controls set up, you will have to reset them.
2. Recovery via Mi Wi-Fi App (Global Firmware Only):
- π± Install the official Mi Wi-Fi app (available for Android and iOS).
- π In the app menu, select "Forgot the password?" β "Reset the settings".
- π Follow the instructions β you will need confirmation through SMS or email (if the router is linked to the account).
3. Cable connection bypassing authorization (for advanced users):
If the router blocks access due to binding to Mi Account, you can try to bypass authorization via Telnet or SSH.
- Connect the router to the PC by LAN-cable.
- Open the Command Prompt (Win + R β enter cmd).
- Enter the command: telnet 192.168.31.1 If the connection is established, enter the root login and password (often empty or admin by default).
β οΈ Note: This method does not work on all firmware and may violate warranty. Use it only if other methods have not worked.
What if the router requires a Mi Account after a reset?
Common mistakes and their solutions
Even after the reset, users have problems logging in. TOP-5 errors and ways of correcting them:
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| "Incorrect password" with standard data | Router had previously tuned in | Reset settings with the Reset button |
| Page 192.168.31.1 does not open | Incorrect IP or no connection | Check the network, try miwifi.com |
| Mi Account required | Chinese firmware (CN) | Create an account or run a global version |
| After the reset, there's no internet. | Not in the mood. WAN-port | Go to the iconfigure WAN settings (usually PPPoE) |
| Miwifi.com doesn't work. | DNS lockdown | Use it. IP-address or change DNS at 8.8.8.8 |
If the Xiaomi router does not distribute Wi-Fi or connect to the Internet after reset, check:
- π Is the cable from the provider (in port) correctly connected? WAN, blue-colored);
- πΆ Whether it's on DHCP-server (in settings) LAN);
- π Restart the router and modem provider (turn off for 30 seconds).
π‘
If the router doesnβt save settings after resetting, try updating the firmware via the web interface (Advanced β Firmware Upgrade), which fixes bugs in older versions of the software.
How to change the administrator password after logging in
After successfully logging into the Xiaomi control panel, the first thing to do is to change the factory password, which will protect the router from unauthorized access.
Instructions for changing the password:
- Go to System β Password (or Advanced β Administration in new firmware).
- Enter your current password (if required).
- Come up with a new password: π Length of at least 8 characters; π€ Combination of letters, numbers and special symbols; π« Do not use simple combinations like 12345678 or password.
Save
Apply
Important: If you forget your new password, you can't restore it without resetting your settings. Write it down to a secure location (for example, a password manager).
On routers with CN firmware (Chinese), you can't change your administrator password without being tied to Mi Account. You first need to create an account or flash the global version of the software.
π‘
Always change the standard password after the first login β this prevents the router from being hacked through default vulnerabilities.
Additional settings after entry
Having accessed the control panel, it is worth checking and optimizing the key parameters:
Firmware update:
- π Go to Advanced. β Firmware Upgrade.
- π₯ Click "Check for Updates" and install the latest version.
- β οΈ Do not interrupt the update process β this can βbrickβ the router.
Wi-Fi settings:
- πΆ Change the name of the network (SSID) Wireless β Basic Settings.
- π Set a strong password for Wi-Fi (at least 12 characters).
- π‘ Select a channel manually (e.g. 6 or 11 for 2.4GHz) if the network is slowing down.
Safety:
- π‘οΈ Turn on the firewall (Advanced) β Firewall).
On the AX6000 and later, the Mesh network feature is available, which can be configured in the Wi-Fi β Mesh Network section, which is useful for large apartments or homes with multiple routers.
