It's scary, but it's not hopeless: 80 percent of the time, the black screen on the device is a software or hardware malfunction that you can fix yourself, and in this article, we'll look at all the possible causes, from a simple battery discharge to damage to the display plume, and give step-by-step diagnostic and repair instructions.

It’s important to understand that the black screen on Xiaomi (whether it’s a Redmi Note 10 Pro, POCO X3 or the flagship Mi 13 Ultra) rarely occurs on its own. It’s usually preceded by symptoms that are precursors: screen flickering, spontaneous reboots, image artifacts or sudden “hangs.” If you notice something like this, it will significantly narrow the range of possible problems. And if the screen goes out suddenly, without warning, prepare for a deeper diagnosis.

Before you panic and carry your phone to the service center, go through our checklist, and we've compiled all the working methods confirmed by Xiaomi users and repair specialists, from the elementary (reboot) to the advanced (fastboot reflashing), chances are your problem is solved - you just need to correctly identify it.

1.Discharged battery or charging problems

The most common but often overlooked reason is the deep battery drain. Even if you were “just charging” the phone, there could be a power controller failure that could cause Xiaomi to shut down the screen, even though the basic functions (sound, vibration) are still residual, especially for fast-charging models (Redmi Note 11 Pro+, Xiaomi 12T), where the controller sometimes “falls asleep” at a critical charge level.

How to check:

• 🔌 Connect your phone to the original charger (don't use cheap cables!) Leave at least 30 minutes on charging - even if the indicator doesn't burn.
• 🔋 Try charging from another source: a laptop, a power bank, another power supply. Sometimes the problem is in the port. USB cable.

Failure of the proximity or illumination sensor

Few people know, but the black screen on Xiaomi can be caused by a malfunction of the proximity sensor, which is responsible for turning off the screen during a call (when you hold the phone to your ear), if it wilts, the phone will "think" that you are talking, and block the screen.
