Xiaomi's automatic soap dispensers are popular smart home gadgets that promise hygienic and convenience. But what if the device suddenly stops serving soap, flashes a red light or doesn't respond to touch at all? There can be a dozen reasons for malfunction, from a banal battery discharge to a factory control board defect.
In this article, we will look at all possible failures of the Xiaomi MiJia, Viomi and other dispensers in series, from software failures to mechanical damage. You will learn how to diagnose a problem by indicators, which settings to reset first, and when to carry the device to the service. And for the most daring ones, instructions for disassembling and repairing with your own hands with photos and circuits.
Spoiler: 60 percent of the time, the dispenser can be reanimated in 10 minutes without a soldering iron, and let's start with the simplest.
1. Power check: battery, charging, contacts
The first thing to rule out is power problems, and even if the meter is on, it doesn't guarantee stable operation.
- 🔋 Battery discharge: MiJia Smart Soap Dispenser and Viomi models are powered by built-in batteries (typically 18650 by 2000-2500 mAh). If the dispenser does not respond to touch or gives out soap jerks, check the charge through the Mi Home app (Smart Home section» → device → «Battery status. Critical level below 10%.
- ⚡ Bad charging contact. If the dispenser is connected to the mains but not charging, check the connector. Micro-USB/Type-C (Often the contacts are oxidized by soapy water. Rub them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
- 🔌 Power supply. Use only the original Xiaomi adapter (options: 5V/1A or 5V/2A). Cheap charging may not give enough current, because of which the device will “glue».
💡 How to check without the app: Connect the dispenser to charge. If the indicator does not flash red, the problem is the battery or the power board. If it flashes but does not charge, clean the contacts or change the cable.
2. Software failures: reset and flashing
Xiaomi dispensers run on firmware, which sometimes "fly" after updates or power surges.
- 🤖 The device is powered on but does not respond to the sensor/infrared sensor.
- 🔄 It flashes blue or green all the time, although there is soap in the tank.
- 📱 Mi Home App Apps Show Device Offline or Firmware Error.
Decisions of the order:
- Soft reset. Hold the power button (if any) or touchpad for 10 to 15 seconds until the light goes out and flashes again. This will reboot the system.
- Reset to factory settings. MiJia and Viomi: 1. Turn off power. 2. Press the touch button and connect charging. 3. Hold the button for 20 seconds until the indicator flashes yellow. 4. Release - the dispenser will reset.
- If the reset didn't help, update the firmware via Mi Home: Device Profile → Three points (⋮) → Important: Do not interrupt the process! If the dispenser "hangs" during the update phase, disconnect it from the network for 1 minute and try again.

⚠️ Attention: After resetting the Viomi dispenser V-SDD01 You may need to re-bind to Mi Home. To do this, click Add Device (+) → Smart home. → Soap dispenser and follow the instructions.
3.Problems with sensors: why the dispenser does not respond to the arm
Xiaomi contactless dispensers are equipped with infrared (IR) If you don't have soap, check it out:
| Symptoms. | Probable cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The dispenser does not respond to the hand, the indicator does not burn. | Sensor contaminated or closed | Wipe the sensor glass with alcohol. Make sure there are no obstacles in front of it (for example, a decorative sticker). |
| Reacts only from close range (<5 centimeter) | Weak sensor signal or low sensitivity | In Mi Home, increase Sensitivity to the maximum. |
| False positives (soap pours without a hand) | Interference from sunlight or other IR-device | Move the dispenser to the shade or change the angle of installation. |
| The indicator flashes red when you put your hand up. | Failure of the sensor or board | Replacement of the sensor is required (see Repair section). |
🔍 How to check the sensor: Bring your hand to the dispenser at a distance of 5-10 cm If the indicator lights up but the soap does not pour, the problem is in the pump system. If the indicator does not respond, the sensor or control board is defective.

4. Clogged or broken pump: why soap is not served
If the dispenser is buzzing, but the soap is not pouring or is flowing in a thin stream, the pump or the tubes are to blame.
- 🧼 Thickened soap. Liquid particle soap or gel can clog the pump valve. Especially for Viomi models with narrow tubes.
- 🔧 The wear of the pump membrane, and over time, the rubber membrane loses its elasticity and ceases to create pressure.
- 💧 Water in the tank. If the dispenser gets water (for example, during washing), it dilutes the soap and disrupts the pump.
How to clean the pump:
- Pour the remaining soap out of the tank.
- Wash the tank with warm water (without detergents!).
- Pour 100 ml of pure water into the dispenser and turn on the supply 3-4 times to wash the tubes.
- If it does not help - disassemble the dispenser (see the next section) and clean the pump with a cotton swab.
⚠️ Warning: Do not use vinegar or aggressive cleaning products for washing - they can damage the rubber seals of the pump. Citric acid (1 tsp per 100 ml of water) will do).
💡
If the dispenser starts spitting with soap instead of a uniform jet, check the tightness of the connection between the tube and the pump, which often flies off when the tank is replaced.
5. Disassembly of the dispenser: cleaning and replacement of parts
If the external diagnostics didn't work, you'll have to disassemble the device, and you'll need to take care of it.
- ⚒️ Plastic spatula (mediator) or screwdriver T5/T6.
- 🔧 Tweezers and cotton swabs.
- 🧴 Isopropyl alcohol (for cleaning contacts).
The following is a MiJia Smart Soap Dispenser:
- Remove the top cover of the tank, remove the soap container.
- Turn over the dispenser and unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom panel (they can be hidden under the rubber legs).
- Carefully put the shoulder blade on the bottom cover - it is held on the latches.
- Disconnect the touchpad plume (if any) and remove the board.
🔍 What to clean/change:
- 🛠️ Pump: Check the membrane for wear and tear. If it's hard or torn, replace it (article for MiJia: MDY-007).
💡
The most common failure after a year of use is the wear and tear of the pump membrane, which costs 3-5 times less than buying a new dispenser.
6.Tank problems: leak, cracks, loose fit
If the dispenser leaks or the soap spills out of itself, the reservoir or its mount is to blame.
- 🔩 The wear of the sealing ring, the rubber band between the tank and the dispenser body will crumple over time: V-SDD01-SEAL) or temporarily seal with silicone sealant.
🛒 Where to buy spare parts:
- Original details - on AliExpress (search by model article) + «spare parts»).
- Universal seals - in plumbing stores (select by diameter).
- Membranes for the pump are in Xiaomi service centers or at sellers on Avito.
⚠️ Warning: If the tank cracks at the base, do not try to glue it with superglue - the soap will eat the seam. ~300-600 rubles.) or replace the dispenser under warranty (if it is valid).
7.When to contact the service: signs of serious breakdowns
Not all malfunctions can be fixed by yourself.
- ⚡ The board burned, the signs: the smell of burning, blackened tracks, the device does not turn on even after the battery is replaced.
- 🔧 If the pump doesn't hum when it's on, and the membrane is intact, the engine winding problem is.
- 📡 The module is not working. Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. The dispenser does not connect to the Mi Home, although the indicator is on.
- 💥 Mechanical damage to the body, cracks, chips, fall marks, it can damage the internal components.
📍 Where to fix:
- Official Xiaomi service centers - warranty repair (list on the website) mi.com/ru/service).
- Local workshops - search on 2GIS or Yandex.Maps for "repair of smart equipment".
- Self-replacement – if you are confident in your abilities, order parts on AliExpress and follow the guides on YouTube (look for the dispenser model).
💰 Cost of repair (Moscow, 2026):
| Breakdown | Price of repair (ruble) | The price of a new part (ruble) |
|---|---|---|

8.Prevention: How to prolong the life of the Xiaomi dispenser
To dispenser last longer than 3-5 years (average service life), follow these rules:
- 🧴 Use only liquid soap without abrasive particles. shower gel or shampoo can clog tubes.
- 💧 Keep the water out of the tank. After filling it with soap, wipe the bottle's neck.
- 🔋 Charge correctly. Don't leave the dispenser on charge for more than 8 hours - this shortens battery life.
- 🧼 Wash the tank once a month. Wash it with warm water and dry it before filling.
- 📱 Update the firmware. New versions fix sensor and pump bugs.
🔄 How often to change soap:
- Liquid soap - once every 2-3 weeks (so as not to thicken).
- Antibacterial gels - every 1-2 weeks (they lose their properties faster).
💡
The most common cause of failure is the use of thick soap or gel with exfoliating particles, which clog the pump and disable it in 2-3 months.
