Why does the Poco M3 not turn on after the reboot?
You clicked "Reboot" and the Xiaomi Poco M3 suddenly stopped responding to the power button? The situation is unpleasant, but not hopeless. Most often the problem is associated with software failures β for example, incorrect system updates, application conflict or file system damage. Less often, hardware malfunctions β a dead battery, departed plumes or a damaged motherboard β are the fault.
In this article, we will look at all possible causes and offer step-by-step solutions, from the simplest (check charging) to the most complex (fastboot flashing). Importantly, if the phone does not show signs of life at all (no vibration, no charging indicator), first rule out hardware breakdowns. If there is even the slightest reaction, the chances of recovery are high.
Let's start with the diagnosis.
1. Checking the underlying causes: charging and power button
Before you commit to complex failures, make sure that the problem is not the trivial things.
- π Connect the original charging cable and power supply (at least) 18W). Wait 15-20 minutes β sometimes a discharged battery shows no signs of charging right away.
- π Try another charger or cable. Avoid damaging the contacts in the connector. USB-C.
- π Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds if the phone vibrates or the logo appears. POCO, But it doesnβt get any more β the problem is software.
If the charging indicator is not on, check:
- π Clean connector USB-C (dust, contact oxidation).
- π§ Cable integrity β bend it at the base to detect cliffs.
- π Battery status: If the phone was discharged for more than a month, it could fail.
π‘
If the phone gets slightly hot after charging, but does not turn on, this is a sign that the battery is getting current, but the power controller is not starting the system. Try resetting the settings through Recovery (see section 3).
2. Forced reboot and login to Recovery Mode
If the Poco M3 does not respond to the power button, but the charging is underway (burning indicator), try the forced rebate:
- Turn off the charger.
- Press the power + volume buttons for 10-15 seconds at the same time.
- Let go when the POCO logo or vibration appears.
If the phone boots up, the problem was a temporary failure. If not, go to Recovery Mode:
- Turn off the phone (hold the power button for 20 seconds if it doesn't respond).
- Press Power + Volume Up until the Recovery menu appears.
- Use volume buttons for navigation, power button for selection.
From the Recovery menu, select:
- π Reboot system now - a regular reboot.
- ποΈ Wipe data/factory reset β reset to factory settings (deletes all data!).
- π§ Apply update from ADB β If you plan to use a computer.
What if you canβt get into Recovery?
3.Reset to factory settings via Recovery
If the Poco M3 loads to the logo, but then hangs or goes into a cyclic reboot, a hard reset will help, which will delete all the data, but return the phone to working condition.
Instructions:
- Enter Recovery Mode (see Section 2).
- Select Wipe data/factory reset β confirm Yes.
- After reset, go back to the main menu and select Reboot system now.
If the reset didnβt help, try to clean the cache further:
- In Recovery, select Wipe cache partition.
- Confirm the action and restart the phone.
Make sure your phone is at least 30% charged | Download a backup of important data (if the phone is sometimes turned on) | Prepare the original USB | Wireless Mi Account if the factory unlocker was enabled
-->
β οΈ Note: If the phone has enabled Find My Device or Mi Account, you may need to enter your login and password after resetΒ»!
4. Diagnostics of hardware malfunctions
If none of the software methods worked, the problem could be hardware.
| Symptoms. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| No reaction to charging, the indicator does not burn | Faulty USB-C connector or power controller | Replacement of connector / fee in the service |
| The phone vibrates, but the screen is black. | The display plume or the matrix itself is damaged. | Diagnostics in the service |
| Overheating when attempting to switch on | Short circuit on the motherboard | Repair or replacement of fees |
| Cyclical reboot after falling | The dumping of memory or processor chips | Supplier in the service |
You can independently check:
- π§ Battery: if the phone turns on only from charging, but turns off without it - the battery does not hold the charge.
- π Connector. USB-C: illuminate with a flashlight - whether there are bent contacts or oxidation.
- π± Power button: Press it several times β if you hear a crunch or backlash, it could break.
β οΈ Warning: If your phone falls or gets wet, don't try to turn it on again, which can make it worse.
5. Flashing through Fastboot (for advanced)
If the software methods don't work, you'll need a computer, a USB-C cable, and the official firmware for the Poco M3 (citrus).
Step-by-step:
- Download the official firmware for your model (choose the Fastboot version).
- Unpack the archive in a folder on your computer.
- Install ADB and Fastboot.
- Connect the phone to the PC, holding Power + Volume Down (Fastboot Mode should appear).
- Open the command line in the firmware folder and execute: fastboot flash all (or fastboot flash all -w for full cleanup).
If the process is successful, the phone will reboot in a factory state, and if it isn't, it may be a bootloader or memory that's damaged.

Fastboot flashing is an extreme method, and if you're not sure what you're doing, you better go to the service, and the wrong commands can finally brick the phone.
6. Contacting the service center: when necessary
If all of these methods fail, only professional diagnostics are left.
- π§ The phone does not respond to charging and buttons, no vibration.
- π₯ There were physical injuries (fall, moisture infestation).
- π₯ The phone overheats or smells like a burn.
- π After the firmware appears error Invalid partition table or similar.
Xiaomi Service Center can:
- π Diagnose the fee for short circuits.
- π§ Re-sweeten chips (e.g., eMMC memory).
- π Replace the battery or power controller.
- π± Restore the firmware through specialized equipment (EDL Mode).
The cost of repair depends on the fault:
- Replacement of the connector USB-C: ~1 500β2 500 β½.
- Battery replacement: ~2 000β3 000 β½.
- Maternity Board Repairs: From 3,000 β½ (depending on the complexity).
7 Prevention: How to avoid problems in the future
To prevent the Poco M3 from dying after the next reboot, follow the following simple rules:
- π Do not allow full battery discharge (keep the charge at 20β80%).
- π Update your firmware regularly, but not through third-party sources.
- π± Avoid installing applications from unknown sources (APK online).
- πΎ Periodically clean the cache in the Recovery menu (every 3-6 months).
- π‘οΈ Use a cover and protective glass to avoid mechanical damage.
If the phone starts to "glutch" (hangs, spontaneous reboots), do not ignore the symptoms. A timely cache reset or update rollback can prevent serious crashes.

Back up your important data (photos, contacts) to the Mi Cloud or your computer, which will save the information if the phone suddenly stops turning on.
