How to accurately determine the model of your smartphone or Xiaomi device

Did you buy a used Xiaomi without a box, lose your documents, or just forget the name of the model? This situation is familiar to many people — especially when you need to download firmware, buy a case or accessories. A mistake in determining the model can lead to incompatibility of parts, incorrect firmware, or even loss of warranty.

1. The easiest way: setting up the phone

If your Xiaomi is switched on and running, start with this method. It takes less than a minute and requires no additional tools.

Open the Settings app (cog icon) and go to About Phone (or About Tablet Device) at the top of the screen and you'll see:

2. Model code on box and documents

If the phone doesn't turn on or you're in doubt about the settings, check the original package. The Xiaomi box always shows:

🔢 Model code (e.g, 2211133G — global version)
📄 IMEI (Unique identifier, which allows you to specify the model on sites like IMEI.info)

Notice the barcode sticker, which often duplicates the model code. If there's no box, check:

📄 Warranty card (usually there is a model and serial number)
🛒 Check or invoice from the store (even electronically)
📧 Letter of confirmation of purchase (if you bought online)

The code on the box and the phone should match, and if it doesn't, it could have been re-fashioned or tampered with.

All Xiaomi smartphones (except monolithic models like the Mi Mix) have a sticker with technical information under the removable lid or battery.

Enter this combination in the Phone app (as a regular number). The Test menu will open, where the model will be specified in the Device Information section.

Method 2: ADB-team

Connect your phone to a PC with installed ADB-tools and perform:

adb shell getprop ro.product.model

The answer is the exact model name (e.g. 22041216C for Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G).

Method 3: Engineering Menu (MTK)

On phones with MediaTek processor type ##36446337#. In the menu that opens, select Version, which will provide full information about the model and hardware.

5. IMEI model definition

IMEI is a unique 15-digit code for your device, and you can tell not only the model, but also check the phone for originality or lock.

How to find IMEI:

The above methods are suitable for smartphones and tablets. But how to know the model of Xiaomi Mi Band, router or TV?

Smart watches and fitness bracelets (Mi Band, Amazfit):
