Why would you need to remove the wheel?
The front wheel (or βrollerβ) of Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners is one of the most vulnerable elements, it constantly contacts the surface, collects hair, threads and small debris, which leads to jamming or uneven wear.

Once the screws are unscrewed, the wheel is still on the axle, and you're going to pull it gently, while you're swaying it from side to side, and if the wheel doesn't respond, make sure there are any hidden latches or locks.

Step 3: Removing the axis and gears
When the wheel is removed from the body, you'll see the spin axis and gears transmitting torque from the motor. In most Xiaomi models, the axis is fixed by a lock ring or a washer.
- Remove the locking ring with tweezers (carefully, it is easily lost!).
- Pull the axle out of the body, holding the gears so that they do not crumble.
- Clean all the details of the old lubricant and dirt with a napkin soaked in alcohol.
Notice the condition of the gears: if the teeth are chipped or worn out, they will have to be replaced. In the Viomi and Dreame, the gears are often plastic and break when overloaded. Also check the bearings, if they are lufty or creaky, they need to be lubricated or replaced.

If the gears are worn out, don't rush to buy new ones. Try flipping them over on the other side, which sometimes temporarily solves the problem.
Step 4: Cleaning and lubricating the mechanism
After dismantling, be sure to clean all the parts of dirt and old lubricant.

Step 5: Reverse Assembly and Verification
The wheel should be assembled in reverse order, observing several rules:
- Install the gears on the axle, making sure that they are properly connected to the motor drive.
- Fix the locking ring - it should sit tightly, without backlash.
- Tighten the wheel on the axle, combining the holes under the screws.
- Twirl the screws, but do not pull - a tight fixation is enough.
- Install a protective casing by snapping it to a characteristic click.
After assembly, be sure to test the vacuum cleaner:
- π Run it on a flat surface and check if it's going straight.
- π Listen, are there any extraneous sounds (squeaking, coding).
- π Measure the distance that the vacuum cleaner travels in 10 seconds β it should be the same when moving forward and backward.

Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Even with careful disassembly, you can make mistakes that will lead to breakdown.
