Disassembling the Xiaomi Redmi smartphone is a challenge that every owner will face sooner or later, whether itβs replacing the battery, cleaning up the dust, repairing the screen or diagnosing malfunctions, you can do without proper disassembly. However, the wrong actions can lead to damage to the plumes, rupture of flexible cables or even complete failure of the device. This article will help avoid typical errors and conduct the process as carefully as possible.
Unlike the flagship Mi or POCO models, Redmi smartphones often have a simpler design, but that doesnβt mean that disassembling them doesnβt require attention. For example, the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Redmi 9T have a glue layer under the back cover, and the Redmi K50 has latches that are easy to break if opened carelessly.
Before you start, consider: disassembling the smartphone is not warranty (if it is still valid). If the device is warranty, it is better to contact the Xiaomi service center. Also remember that some components (for example, the battery) can be swelled or damaged - their disassembly requires special care and protection (gloves, glasses).
Preparation for disassembly: tools and security measures
Without the right tools, itβs almost impossible to disassemble the Xiaomi Redmi.
- π§ Plastic blades (2-3 - to separate the back cover. Metal mediators can scratch the body.
- π¨ Screwdriver cross (PH00 or PH0) β Some models (e.g. Redmi Note 12) use screws. Y00.
- 𧲠Magnetic mat or organizer to keep the finer details intact. The screws in Redmi are often the same, but of different lengths!
- π₯ Dryer or thermo-air station - for softening the glue (temperature not higher than 80)Β°C to avoid damaging the screen).
- 𧴠Isopropyl alcohol (90%+) β Acetone or solvents should not be used for cleaning glues and contacts!
- π Tweezers with curved ends - for working with plumes and small connectors.
Also, prepare your workspace: the desk should be clean, the lights bright, and it is better to have spare plumes (for example, for a power button or charging socket) on hand if you plan to replace them.
β οΈ Warning: If the smartphone battery is swollen (the cover is raised, the screen "goes away"), do not heat it with a hair dryer and do not try to disassemble yourself! The risk of fire or explosion is extremely high.
Step 1: Removing the back cover
The most important step is to separate the back panel, which is glued to most Redmi models, and in some models (for example, the Redmi Note 8 Pro) it is additionally fixed with latches.
- Turn off your smartphone and remove it. SIM-card from the tray (if any).
- Heat the edges of the body with a hair dryer (60-80Β°C) for 2-3 minutes. This will soften the glue. Do not direct air flow to the screen or camera!
- Insert a plastic blade into the gap between the lid and the body (better start at the bottom edge where the charging connector is). Carefully drive it along the perimeter, separating the lid.
- Lift the lid, if it doesn't respond, warm up the problem area again. Don't force it!
In the Redmi Note 10S and later, the lid can be attached to double-sided tape, which is easier to separate, but you need to replace it with a new one when you build it. The Redmi K50 Gaming has metal latches on the sides, so you need to gently snap them with a blade.
βοΈ Preparation for lid removal
If the cover is lifted but not removed completely, check:
- π± Are there any undetached areas (especially in the area of the volume buttons).
- π Does the fingerprint plume interfere with the fingerprint (in models with a sensor on the back, for example, the Redmi Note 9 Pro).
- π Is the battery glued to the lid (occurring in older models).
β οΈ Attention: Redmi Note 11 Pro+ There's an extra screw hidden under the lid near the camera -- if you don't unscrew it, it won't be completely removed -- it's easy to miss because it's black.
Step 2: Shutting off the battery
When the lid is removed, the first thing you need to do is turn off the battery to avoid short circuits.
- Find the battery plume β it is usually located at the bottom of the board and closed with black insulation tape.
- Carefully tuck the tape with tweezers and bend it.
- With a blade or tweezers, lift the connector (don't pull the wires!) In some models, the connector is fixed with a latch - you need to squeeze it.
If the battery is bulging, don't try to remove it, it's dangerous.
- π Turn off the plume immediately.
- π Do not puncture or press on the battery.
- π¦ Place your phone in a non-combustible container (such as a metal container) and take it to the service.
In the Redmi 9 and Redmi 10, the battery is glued to the body, and it will need to be retrieved:
- Substitute the battery with a plastic blade on the side (where there are no components on the board).
- Pull a special black band (traction strap), if any.
- If necessary, use isopropyl alcohol to dissolve the glue.
π‘
If there is no traction tape, you can use a thin guitar string or fishing line, squeezing it under the battery and neatly "saw" glue.
Step 3: Removing the motherboard
The motherboard is the most expensive and fragile component. Before you take it down, take a picture of all the plumes and screws (they can vary in length!)
- Unscrew all screws that lock the metal screen (if any) above the board.
- Disconnect all plumes: πΈ Main camera plume. π Dynamics and microphone plume. π The charger's plug (unless previously disconnected). π± Display plume (very fragile!).
Carefully raise the fee, starting from the edge where there are no connectors.
In the Redmi K40 and K50, the board is additionally attached to the body with a thermal paste for better cooling, and must be carefully separated with a plastic blade.
| Model | Features of payment | Difficulty of extraction |
|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 10/11 | NFC plume glued to board, easy to tear off | Medium |
| Redmi 9/9A | Screws under the board of different lengths | Low. |
| Redmi K50 Gaming | Additional heat pipes | Tall. |
| Redmi A1/A2 | Payment on latches, no screws | Low. |
β οΈ Attention: Redmi Note 12 Pro+ There's an extra screw in the board that's hidden underneath the mount, and if you don't twist it, you can pull the jack off when you lift the board!
Step 4: Disassemble the screen and replaceable modules
If the purpose of the disassembly is to replace the display, speaker or camera, the board is not retrievable, but the Redmi screen is one of the most vulnerable elements.
To replace other modules:
- π Speaker and microphone: usually mounted on double-sided tape. In Redmi Note 11, the speaker is screwed.
- πΈ Camera: In multi-module models (like the Redmi Note 10 Pro), they are connected by a single plume!
- π Charging connector: in Redmi 9 and newer it is soldered plume - when replacing you will need a soldering iron.
What to do if the screen does not separate?
Step 5: Build your smartphone after disassembly
Building is as much a process as dismantling. Here are the key points:
- π§ Screw them in the same order and with the same force. In the Redmi Note 12, the mounting screws of the board are of different lengths!
- π± Trains: plug them in before the board is fixed. Make sure the connectors are snapped (a slight click should be heard).
- π Battery: If you've taken it off, make sure it's flat, free of distortion. In graphene-coated models (e.g. Redmi). K50 Ultra) the battery must fit tightly to the board.
- 𧴠Glue: Use a new double-sided scotch or glue for the back cover B-7000. Donβt save money β a weak fixation will lead to backlash.
After assembly:
- Connect the charger and check if charging is underway.
- Turn on your smartphone and test all the features: πΆ Communications and Wi-Fi. π Sound in the speaker and microphone. πΈ Cameras (front and main). π Sensor and buttons.

The most common build error is a loosely connected display plume, and if the screen doesn't turn on or works with artifacts after assembly, it's 90 percent to blame.
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Even experienced craftsmen sometimes make mistakes, and here are the most common ones and ways to prevent them:
| Mistake. | Effects of consequences | How to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Use of metal tools | Scratches on the body, damage to plumes | Use only plastic blades |
| Dryer overheating | Bloating or ignition | Heat for no longer than 3 minutes, temperature β€ 80 Β° C |
| Incorrect screw unscrewing sequence | Toll skewing, track breakage | Take a picture of the location of the screws before disassembly |
| Strong pressing of the screen during separation | Sensor cracks or detachment | Use a string or string for a neat separation |
Another common problem is the loss of screws, and Redmi often uses screws of the same diameter, but of different lengths.
- Short screws (2 mm) - for fastening the metal screen.
- Long screws (4 mm) - for fixing the board.
If you confuse them in places, you can damage the fee!
If after assembly the smartphone does not turn on:
- Check the battery connection β it is possible that the plume is not fully inserted.
- Make sure the power button is properly connected (in Redmi 9 it often departs).
- Try connecting the charger β sometimes the phone only turns on after the charge appears.
