Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is one of the most popular smartphones in the mid-range, but even it is not immune to breakdowns. Whether it is a broken screen, a dead battery or problems with the speaker, sooner or later the owner may need to disassemble the device. However, improper disassembly can lead to damage to the plumes, disconnection of contacts or even complete failure of the phone.
In this article, you'll find step-by-step instructions with a photo, a list of tools you need, and unique tips for disassembling a particular model, the Redmi Note 9 Pro (codenamed joyeuse), we've taken into account all the pitfalls, from the fragility of the glass rear panel to the battery mounting features, and if you've never taken your smartphone apart, this guide will help you avoid typical errors.
Preparation for disassembly: tools and security measures
Before you start, make sure you have everything you need. The Redmi Note 9 Pro is not the most difficult to disassemble smartphone, but it will require care.
- π§ Plastic blades (2-3 (a) - for the separation of the back cover and the slinging of the plumes.
- β‘ Screwdriver cross PH00 β for the back panel screws and motherboard.
- π Suction - will help remove the back cover (especially if the glue has not lost strength yet).
- 𧲠Magnetic mat or container - so as not to lose small screws (there are about 15 pieces!).
- π₯ Hair dryer or thermoair station - for softening the glue (optional, but simplifies the process).
- π± Tweezers β for working with plumes and small details.
Also, prepare your workspace: a clean desk with good lighting, an antistatic mat (if any) and spare rubber gloves β these will protect against static electricity. Don't take your phone apart on a carpet or couch: small parts are easy to lose, and villi can get inside the case.
β οΈ Note: If you disassemble the Redmi Note 9 Pro with a faulty battery (blown or leaky), do not use metal tools near it. the risk of short circuit or fire is extremely high.
Step 1: Turn off and remove the back cover
The first stage is the most important. The Redmi Note 9 Pro's back panel is glued around the perimeter, and the glass is brittle. If you act rudely, you can get cracks or chips. Here's how to do it correctly:
- Turn off the phone and remove it. SIM-card and memory card (if installed).
- Heat the edges of the body with a hair dryer (~60Β°C) for 2-3 minutes. This will soften the glue. Don't overheat - the display and battery do not like high temperatures!
- Suction suction cups grab onto the top of the back panel (near the camera) and pull up. If the lid doesn't lend itself, gently tuck it in with a plastic spatula.
- Once the gap appears, swipe around the perimeter, separating the glue. Take your time - the glass may crack!
If the lid is tight, don't put too much effort into it. You better warm up the problem areas again. The Redmi Note 9 Pro doesn't have any hidden latches, so if the lid isn't removed, it's the glue.

Step 2: Unscrew the screws and remove the metal plate
When you take the back cover off, you'll see a metal plate covering the battery and the motherboard, and it's mounted on 15 screws of different lengths -- remember where they are, so you don't mix them up!
Here is the chart of screws (top down, left to right):
| Number. | Length (mm) | Location. | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-4 | 3.5 | At the corners of the plate | The shortest. |
| 5-8 | 4.0 | Along the top edge | Average length |
| 9-12 | 5.0 | Along the lower edge | The longest. |
| 13-15 | 3.0 | Next to the charging connector | Short, but thicker than the rest. |
After unscrewing, gently tuck the plate into a plastic blade, which can sit tight because of the thermal paste on the processor. Don't pull it sharply, because there are plumes underneath the plate!
β οΈ Attention: Rotors with number 13-15 (near-connector USB-C) They have reverse threads, they have to be turned clockwise, not against. If you confuse them, you can rip the thread off.
Step 3: Turn off the battery and plumes
Before you continue, be sure to turn off the battery.
- Find the battery connector (black plume with a red marker).
- Carefully put a plastic spatula on it and disconnect it. Don't use metal, you can close contacts!
- Wait 1-2 minutes β this will discharge the residual charge in the capacitors.
Now you can turn off the other plumes. In the Redmi Note 9 Pro, there are 5 of them:
- π Display plume (the widest, at the top).
- π Dynamic/microphone plume (thin, right).
- π· Main camera plume (black, with metal screen).
- π Charging plume/USB (small, down).
- πΆ Antenna plume (very thin, taped).
Disconnect them one by one, remembering the location. The camera plume is especially fragile - if it is torn, repairs will cost 3-4 thousand rubles.
What to do if the plume does not disconnect?
Step 4: Removing the motherboard and battery
The motherboard is attached to 4 screws (in the corners) and additional glue under the processor to remove it:
- Unscrew all screws (they are the same, 4 mm long).
- Carefully tuck the board from the upper right corner (there are no plumes).
- If the board does not lend itself, warm it up with a hair dryer on the back side (temperature not higher than 70 Β° C).
It's a little bit more complicated, and it's glued to a double-sided, high-strength tape, and if you pull it by force, you can break it.
- Put the battery on a plastic card from any angle.
- Slowly draw the map under the battery, separating the glue, if resistance is strong, drip the isopropyl alcohol under the edge of the battery.
- Do not use metal tools β the risk of battery puncture is too high!
If the battery is swelling, don't try to straighten it. These batteries are extremely dangerous, they can ignite even from a slight mechanical impact, it is better to dispose of it immediately and replace it with a new one.
π‘
If youβre planning to replace a battery, buy only the original (MB-J16B) or certified ATL or Sunwoda. Cheap batteries from China often have real capacity 20-30% below the declared.
Step 5: Disassemble the front panel (display and buttons)
The Redmi Note 9 Pro display is glued all around the perimeter, and underneath it are the plumes of the fingerprint scanner and the touchpad, to remove it:
- Warm up the screen with a hair dryer (temperature 60-70Β°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Put the display on a plastic blade from the bottom edge (where the charging connector is).
- As soon as there is a gap, carefully drive the shoulder blade around the edges, separating the glue.
- Disconnect the display and sensor plumes (they are marked in red and blue).
The Volume and Power buttons sit on metal latches to remove them.
- Put the button on the side with a plastic spatula.
- Take it out carefully with the silicone sealer (don't lose it!).
- If the button is tight, moisten it with WD-40 and wait 5 minutes.
The fingerprint scanner is built into the display, so if you damage it, you have to change the entire module. The cost of the original display for the Redmi Note 9 Pro is from 8 to 12 thousand rubles (depending on the supplier).
Build the phone: reverse order and check
You need to collect the phone in reverse order, but with some nuances:
- Check all the plumes for integrity. If there are tears or scuffs, replace them.
- Apply the new thermopast to the processor and memory chip (thin layer).
- Stick the back cover to a new double-sided scotch (e.g. 3M 9448A).
- Twisting the screws cross-cross to avoid distortion of the plate.
Don't turn on the phone right away.
- Check if all buttons are working (especially Volume Down β it often clamps when built).
- Connect the charging and make sure the phone detects the cable.
- Launch the camera and test all modules (wide-angle, macro, main).
If the phone does not turn on after assembly, check:
- Is the battery connected (sometimes the plume falls out when vibrating).
- Are the contacts closed on the motherboard (look for foreign objects).
- Is the metal plate installed correctly (if it touches the chips, there may be a short circuit).
π‘
If you've had a glitch after you've been disassembled (a self-reboot, a broken touchscreen), it's probably a bad plume contact that's the problem. Take the phone apart again and check all the connectors.
