Many users face the need to disassemble after the phone drops, when the touchscreen stops working or artifacts appear on the screen. Others want to replace the discharged battery themselves to save on the service center. 9S And the adhesive tape under the battery is soldered to the motherboard, and if it breaks, it can knock out the power controller, and we'll show you how to avoid this and other common problems.
Before you start work, evaluate your skills: if you've never held a tweezer or plastic spatula in your hands, it's best to practice on an old device.Redmi Disassembly 9S It is a medium difficulty level β simpler than the iPhone with its proprietary screws, but more difficult than the Samsung Galaxy A-series with a modular design.
Preparation: security tools and measures
For disassembly Xiaomi Redmi 9S You'll need a minimal set of tools, but you can't do without them, and using tools at hand (knives, screwdrivers of the wrong size) is almost guaranteed to damage the body or the plumes:
- π§ Screwdriver kit: cross-haired PH00 (for the screws of the body) and the five-beam Pentalobe P2 (plume).
- π± Plastic blades (2-3 pc.) or mediators - to separate the cover and the housing.
- π₯ Dryer or thermo-air station (up to 300 power)Β°C) - to soften the adhesive under the battery.
- 𧲠Magnetic mat or screw container β to avoid losing small details.
- π Suction (optional) - helps to raise the screen after heating.
- 𧴠Isopropyl alcohol 90%+ β cleaner.
Also prepare your workspace: a table with good lighting, an antistatic mat (if any) and a magnifying glass for working with small parts. Turn off your phone before disassembling - even a discharged battery can cause a short circuit if handled carelessly.
β οΈ Warning: If you're disassembling a battery replacement phone, don't turn it on after you've removed the old battery, which can damage the power controller.
If you donβt have any experience with electronics, look for alternative repair methods:
- π Replacement of screen glass without disassembly (if only touchscreen is damaged).
- π Recovery of battery capacity through calibration (software method).
- π Contact the service center (if you need to replace the chips on the board).
Step 1: Removing the back cover
Redmi back cover 9S It's attached to latches and glue, but unlike glass panels, it's harder to damage, but if you open it sloppy, you can break the plastic locks or tear the fingerprint scanner plume (if you have one in your modification).
Procedure:
- Turn off the phone and remove the tray for SIM-cards (use a paper clip or special key).
- Plug a protective film (such as scotch) on the screen β this will prevent scratches when the tools slip.
- Heat the hair dryer of the edge of the cover around the perimeter (temperature) ~60β70Β°C, not higher! The glue will become elastic, and the lid will move away easier.
- Insert a plastic blade into the gap between the lid and the body (start at the bottom corner where the charging connector is). Carefully drive the blade along the edge, snapping the clamps.
If the lid doesn't lend itself, don't use too much force, you better warm up the problem area again.
- β Use of metal tools β hull-scrap.
- β Dryer overheating β plastic deformation or battery damage.
- β A sharp lid-break β plume-break.
βοΈ Checklist before lid removal
After removing the cover, you will see:
- π Battery with connected connector.
- π· Main camera module (3 lenses).
- π€ Microphone and speaker at the bottom.
- π Antenna contacts on the sides.
β οΈ Note: Some Redmi modifications 9S There's an extra screw under the lid next to the charging connector (under the sticker) and if you don't unscrew it, the lid won't be completely removed!
Step 2: Disconnect the battery and remove the motherboard
Before you touch the components, be sure to turn off the battery.
- Unscrew 2 screws that fix the metal plate over the battery connector (they can be under black stickers!).
- Carefully put a plastic spatula on the battery socket and unplug it. Don't pull the wires!
Now you can start removing the motherboard, which is mounted on 8 or 10 screws of different sizes (remember where it was!) and several plumes:
- π± Screen plume (the widest, at the top of the board).
- π Dynamics and microphone plume (bottom).
- π· Camera plumes (thin, fragile!).
Sequence of action:
- Unscrew all the screws of the board (use a magnetic screwdriver so as not to lose them).
- Disconnect all plumes, starting with the widest (screen), to do this, carefully lift the black connector lock with a plastic blade.
- If the board is not taken out, check if there are any hidden screws left under the stickers or under the battery.
| Component | Number of screws | Type of screwdriver. | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maternity fee | 8β10 | PH00 | Wheels of different lengths - do not confuse! |
| Battery metal plate | 2 | PH00 | They can be hidden under the stickers. |
| Camera. | 1 | PH00 | The screw is very small - easy to lose |
| Dynamician | 2 | PH00 | One screw may be under the antenna contact. |
When collecting fees, be careful with:
- π Connectors antennas - they are glued to the board and can come off.
- 𧲠Magnetic screens β donβt lose small metal plates.
- π₯ Heating elements β if the board is deformed, do not apply force.
π‘
Before disconnecting the plumes, take a picture of their location on the board - this will help to connect them back correctly.
Step 3: Replacing the battery is the riskiest step
Battery at Redmi 9S It's glued to the body with double-sided tape, and it's also attached to the tape that's soldered to the board, and if you break it, you can damage the power controller, which will make the phone completely inoperable:
Step-by-step:
- Heat the battery with a hair dryer (temperature) ~80Β°C) for 2-3 minutes. This will soften the glue.
- Carefully slap the battery with a plastic spatula from any angle.
- If the battery fails, put a thin guitar string or nylon thread under it and slowly lead it along the body, cutting off the glue.
- After extraction, clean the body of glue residues with isopropyl alcohol.
When installing a new battery:
- β Use the original battery (article: MB11 or MB12 for Redmi 9S).
- β Make sure that the tape does not close the contacts on the board.
- β Connect the battery connector last, after assembly of all other components.
β οΈ Attention: If after replacing the battery, the phone does not turn on, but reacts to charging (the indicator burns), most likely, the duct tape from the board is torn off. In this case, the power controller is soldered - without experience, it is better to contact the service.
What to do if the battery is swelling?
Step 4: Disassemble the screen and replace the touchscreen
Redmi screen 9S It's made up of three layers: a protective glass, a touchscreen, and an LCD matrix, and most of the time, it's only the glass or the touchscreen that's affected by the fall, and the matrix is intact:
- π₯ Hair dryer (to soften glue around the perimeter of the screen).
- π§· Suction cup (to lift glass).
- π Thin plastic card or mediator (to separate layers).
Important: If you have cracked glass, tape it with tape before heating it so that the fragments do not break apart. Also, prepare safety glasses - small particles can fly away when breaking the glass.
Replacement process:
- Heat the screen with a hairdryer around the perimeter (temperature) ~70Β°Start at the bottom of the plume.
- With a suction cup, lift the glass 1-2 mm and insert a plastic card into the slot. Slowly guide it along the edge, separating the glue.
- After separation of the glass, turn off the plume of the touchscreen (it is under the metal cover fixed by 1 screw).
- If you replace only glass, carefully separate it from the touchscreen with isopropyl alcohol (it dissolves the glue).
When assembled:
- πΉ Apply a new double-sided tape around the perimeter of the screen (width) ~1 mm).
- πΉ Make sure the touchscreen plume is not twisted and tightly inserted into the connector.
- πΉ Press the screen evenly over the entire surface (you can use a heavy book).
π‘
If the touchscreen doesn't work properly after you change the screen (the "jumping" cursor), it's likely that the plume is not tightly connected or damaged. Try reconnecting it or replacing the plume.
Step 5: Replace the speaker, microphone and camera
These components are easier to replace than the battery or the screen, but there are nuances here. 9S the bottom speaker is combined with the charging connector, and with careless replacement, you can damage USB-port.
Dynamics:
- Unscrew 2 screws that fix the metal plate over the speaker.
- Disconnect the plume (it goes with the microphone plume).
- Carefully tuck the speaker with a spatula - it is attached to the glue.
Microphone:
- Located next to the speaker, under the same metal plate.
- When replacing, check the dust shield mesh - if it is clogged, clean it with alcohol.
Camera:
- Unscrew 1 screw, fixing the camera module.
- Take the sleeve off carefully (it's very thin!).
- When installing a new camera, make sure itβs the same model (in Redmi). 9S module S5KGM1 main camera).
After replacing any of these components, check their performance before full assembly:
- π Test the speaker with a bell or playback of music.
- π€ Record a voice message to check the microphone.
- πΈ Take a photo on all cameras (main, wide-angle and macro).
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Even experienced craftsmen sometimes make mistakes when disassembling Xiaomi Redmi 9S. Here are the most common problems and ways to prevent them:
| Mistake. | Effects of consequences | How to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Fracture of the fingerprint scanner plume | The fingerprint unlock doesn't work. | Gently remove the cover, starting at the top edge |
| Damage to battery adhesive tape | Short circuit, the phone does not turn on | Use nylon filament to separate the battery |
| Confused screws during assembly | No charge is fixed, possible closures | Sort the screws by length and mark them |
| Screen heating above 90Β°S | Deformation of glue, detachment of the matrix | Use a dryer at minimum power |
| Fragile connection of plumes | Screen flickering, touchscreen not working | Check the fixation of connectors after assembly |
If the phone does not turn on after assembly, follow the following steps:
- Check if the battery is connected (the connector should sit tight).
- Make sure all the plumes are connected correctly (especially the screen and power button).
- Try charging your phone β sometimes after disassembly, an initial recharging is required to start.
- If nothing helps, check the fuses on the board (multimeter required).
π‘
If the battery is quickly discharged after replacing the battery, calibrate the battery: completely discharge it, then charge it to 100% without interruption. Repeat the process 2-3 times.
