Xiaomi Mi 6A
Mi 6A
In this article, you'll find step-by-step instructions with photos of each stage, a list of tools you need, and unique tips you won't find in standard manuals. We'll take a look at common beginner mistakes, tell you how to avoid damaging plumes, and tell you what parts most often fail. If you've never taken out a smartphone before, don't worry: our guide is designed for users of all skill levels.
โ ๏ธ Important: Disassembling your smartphone will void the warranty (if it is still valid) and can lead to irreversible damage if you do not act negligently. If you are not sure of your abilities, contact the service center.
Preparation for disassembly: tools and precautions
Before you start dismantling the Xiaomi Mi 6A, you need to prepare the workspace and tools, and this stage depends on 50% of the success: a wrong screwdriver or a dirty table can ruin the whole process.
- ๐ง A set of plastic blades (or mediators) to gently slap the lid and unplug the plumes. Metal tools cannot be used because they scratch the body and can close the contacts.
- ๐จ The screwdriver. PH00 (or PH0) โ The usual screwdriver won't work: screws in the Mi. 6A small-and-short.
- ๐งฒ Magnetic mat or container, so you don't lose your screws and your little parts, and there's about 15 of them in a smartphone box!
- ๐ฅ Dryer or thermo-air station - to soften the glue under the battery (if you plan to replace it), the temperature should not exceed 60-70ยฐC.
- ๐ธ A smartphone or a camera to capture every step, so you don't have to confuse the order of the assembly.
Also, prepare your work surface: it should be clean, flat and well lit. The best thing to do is to use a table with a white tablecloth, which is easier to spot the screws that have fallen on it. Don't disassemble your smartphone on a carpet or a couch: static electricity can damage the motherboard.
โ ๏ธ Note: If you understand the Mi 6A To replace the battery, pre-discharge it to 20-30%. Fully charged battery if damaged can ignite!
Step 1: Removing the back cover
The back cover of the Xiaomi Mi 6A is mounted on 15 screws and adhesives. To remove it, you first need to twist all the screws around the perimeter. They are of different lengths, so be sure to remember or photograph which screw was twisted from where. For convenience, you can arrange them on a magnetic mat in order of extraction.
Once all the screws are removed, take a plastic blade and carefully start pulling the lid from the lower right corner (near the charging connector). The glue is applied point-by-point, so the lid should give in without strong resistance. Don't try to tear it off completely right away, move around the perimeter, gradually disconnecting the latches.
โ ๏ธ Attention: At the top of the lid, a fingerprint scanner plume passes. If you pull the lid too sharply, you risk tearing it off! The plume is attached to the motherboard and has fragile contacts.
When the lid is almost removed, gently lift it and unplug the fingerprint scanner plume (which is attached to the latch connector). To do this, put a plastic blade on the latch and pull the plume upwards. Don't pull the wires -- just the hard part of the connector!
โ๏ธ Check before removing the lid
Step 2: Battery disconnection
When you take the back cover off, you'll see the battery sticking to the body. The Mi 6A uses a 3080 mAh lithium polymer battery, and replacing it is one of the most common causes of disassembly. Before you disconnect the battery, be sure to disconnect it from the motherboard.
- Find the battery connector on the board (usually it is located in the lower part, next to the USB-port).
- Carefully tuck the black latch of the connector with a plastic blade and pull it up.
- When the latch rises, the battery plug can be removed by pulling the wire.
Now the battery is de-energized, and you can start removing it, and underneath it is an adhesive that hardens over time, and you can use one of these methods to remove the battery.
- ๐ฅ Heating with a hair dryer (up to 60-70)ยฐC) - softens the glue, after which the battery can be tampered with a plastic card.ยฐC could hurt the fee!
- ๐งด Isopropyl alcohol - apply a few drops under the battery and wait 5-10 minutes. The alcohol dissolves the glue, but can damage rubber seals.
- ๐ช A special additive tool (e.g. iFixit Battery Pull Tab) is the safest, but most expensive option.
โ ๏ธ Warning: If the battery is swelling, don't try to puncture it or bend it! This can cause fire.
What to do if the battery is too tight?
Step 3: Removing the motherboard
The Xiaomi Mi 6A motherboard is mounted on multiple screws and connected to the body by multiple plumes, and all connectors must be disconnected before they can be removed.
| Name of connector | Location. | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Display plume | Top of the pay | The widest connector, attached to the latch |
| Camera plume | Upper left corner | Thin and fragile, easily torn |
| Power button plume | Right-hand side | Small connector, often sticking |
| Antenna cables | The bottom part | They're hanging on clamps, not on connectors. |
Once all the plumes are disconnected, you can unscrew the circuit board-holding screws, which are usually 6 to 8 pieces, and they can vary in length, take off the metal screen (if you have one), and gently raise the board on one side, and don't pull it sharply, see if there are any unconnected plumes left.
โ ๏ธ Note: There are small ones on the back of the board SMD-components (resistors, capacitors) Do not touch them with your fingers or put the board on metal surfaces - this can cause a short circuit.
๐ก
If the plume does not detach, do not pull it by force. Try to gently swing the connector left-right or moisten the contacts with isopropyl alcohol (no more than 1-2 drops).
Step 4: Disassemble the front panel and display
The front panel of the Mi 6A includes a display, a touch layer and a frame, which is attached to the body on double-sided tape and latches, and to remove it, you need a plastic blade and patience, where it is easy to damage the plumes or tear off the tape.
Start by heating the edge of the display with a hairdryer (50-60ยฐC). This will soften the glue and allow the panel to be gently tampered with. Put the blade in the gap between the display and the body and slowly drive it along the edge. Once there is a gap, insert a plastic card or a second mediator into it to prevent the tape from sticking again.
When the panel is almost separated, notice the display plume -- it's still connected to the board. Disconnect it just like the other connectors: tuck the latch and pull the plume out gently. Don't bend the panel too much: the touch layer can detach from the display.
โ ๏ธ Warning: If you're disassembling your smartphone because of a cracked display, wear gloves and safety glasses. Shattered glass can hurt your hands, and the LCD film inside the display is poisonous when it hits your skin.

The Mi 6A display is combined with a touch layer, so you need to buy a module assembled when you replace it.
Typical Problems and How to Avoid Them
Even with a careful disassembly, the Xiaomi Mi 6A can face unexpected challenges, and here are the most common ones and ways to solve them:
- ๐ง Torn screws - if the screw head is "licked", try using a screwdriver with a rubber nozzle or drop a superglue on the screw and press the screwdriver for 10-15 seconds.
- ๐ Torn plumes - if the plume breaks, it can be temporarily fixed with tape, but it is better to order a new one right away. 6A The display plume costs about 500-800 rubles.
- ๐ Bloated battery - if the battery case is deformed, do not try to "crush" or punctured it.
- ๐ฑ The sensor doesn't work after assembly, so check if the touchscreen plume fits tightly into the connector.
Another common mistake is the tangled screws, and the Mi 6A uses three types of screws:
- Short (for the lid attachment).
- Medium (for fixing the fee).
- Long (for antenna modules).
If you put a long screw in place for a short one, it can break the board!
โ ๏ธ Warning: Once assembled, the smartphone may not turn on due to an incorrectly connected plume or circuit:
- Are all the snails in the snails (the snails are all heard).
- Are there any other items under the payment (screws, scotch clippings).
- Is the battery installed correctly (contacts should fit tightly).
Replacement of popular parts: battery, display, speaker
If youโve disassembled the Mi 6A to replace a specific part, here are some quick instructions for the most sought-after cases:
1. Battery replacement
After removing the old battery, clean the seat of glue residue (you can use isopropyl alcohol). The new battery should be of the same capacity (3080 mAh) and with a similar connector. glue it on a double-sided tape (for example, 3M 9448A) and connect the plume to the board.
2. Display replacement
The new display unit is set in reverse order, and the key is to remember to plug in the sensor plume and make sure there are no gaps between the display and the frame, and if the glass doesn't fit tightly, eventually there will be parasitic lighting around the edges.
Replacement of the speaker
The speaker in the Mi 6A is located at the bottom of the body and is mounted on two screws, and to replace it, you just need to disconnect the plume (it goes with the charging connector) and carefully remove the old speaker, the new one is installed symmetrically, without distortion.
โ ๏ธ Warning: When you change the speaker, check the integrity of the mesh, which is often clogged with dust, and you can clean it with a soft brush or compressed air.
๐ก
If the smartphone discharges quickly after replacing the battery, perform a calibration: completely discharge it before turning it off, then charge it to 100% without interruptions. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times.
