Why Do Dreame V11 Owners Have to Disassemble a Vacuum?
Xiaomi Dreame V11 is one of the most popular cleaning assistants, but even it requires periodic maintenance. The main reasons why users decide to disassemble are: clogging brushes, wear of bearings or breakdown of sensors. For example, if the device begins to make noise, suck garbage poorly or move around the room chaoticly, the problem is likely to lie inside the case.
Many people are afraid to disassemble the equipment themselves, for fear of breaking fragile parts or losing the warranty. However, 90% of the time the Dreame V11 malfunctions are caused by clogs in ducts or wear of consumables that can be replaced without specialized skills, the main thing is to follow the instructions and use the right tools.

Preparation for disassembly: tools and security measures
Before you start, make sure you have everything you need. To disassemble the Dreame V11 you will need:
- ๐จ Plastic mediators (or guitar mediators) โ for gently slapping latches
- โ๏ธ Cross screwdriver (usually PH0 or PH1)
- ๐งฒ Magnetic substrate or screw container (so as not to lose small parts)
- ๐ธ Smartphone โ for photographing the dismantling stages (in handy for assembly)
- ๐งด Isopropyl alcohol (70%+) โ for cleaning contacts and sensors
Important: don't use metal screwdrivers to fit plastic latches, it'll lead to chips! If you don't have mediators at hand, you can wrap a flat screwdriver with paint tape, but you need to be very careful.
โ ๏ธ Warning: If your vacuum cleaner is still warranty, disassembly will void it. Check the validity of the warranty card in the Mi Home app (Devices โ Dreame V11 โ Warranty).
| Tool. | Appointment | The alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Plastic mediator | Safe disengagement of the latches of the shell | Plastic card, guitar mediator |
| Cross screwdriver PH0 | Twisting of the screws of the attachment | PH1 screwdriver (if the PH0 is too small) |
| Tweezers | Extraction of small parts (springs, washers) | Manicure forceps (caution!) |
| Fen (cold air mode) | Removing dust from hard-to-reach places | Compressed air canister |
Step 1: Removing the upper cover and accessing the insides
Start by turning the vacuum cleaner off the charging station and removing the garbage container. Then flip the device down with the buttons, which makes it easier to work with latches. The top cover of the Dreame V11 is attached to 4 plastic latches and 2 hidden screws under rubber legs.
Algorithm of action:
- Remove the rubber legs (put them under the mediator - screws are hidden under them).
- Unscrew 2 screws with a cross screwdriver.
- Insert the mediator in the gap between the top and bottom of the case (start at the corner near the Clean button).
- Carefully lead the mediator along the perimeter, alternately cracking the fixtures (you will hear characteristic clicks).
Make sure the vacuum cleaner is off and disconnected from the power |
Take a picture of the location of the legs and screws |
Use only plastic tools for tampering |
Do not force - if the lid fails, check all latches-->
When you remove the lid, you'll see the main board, the battery and the engine compartment. Don't touch the boards with your bare hands, static electricity can damage the chips. If you need to touch, first touch a grounded metal object (such as a heating battery).
โ ๏ธ Warning: The Dreame V11 model has a Wi-Fi antenna under the top cover, so don't pull or bend it, and it will cause you to lose communication with the app.
Step 2: Remove the battery and check contacts
The Dreame V11 battery is one of the most vulnerable parts, and over time, the contacts oxidize, which leads to a bad charge or sudden shutdown of the vacuum cleaner, to extract it:
- Disconnect the power plume from the motherboard (carefully pull the plastic connector without pulling the wires!).
- Unscrew 3 screws that attach the battery to the body.
- Put the battery in the mediator and remove it.
Check the contacts for green plaque (oxidation) or black spots (burning). If they are, clean them with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. To prevent this, you can apply a thin layer of contact lubricant (for example, Kontakt 60).
How to check the capacity of the battery without a tester?
| Symptoms. | Probable cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Fast discharge (less than 30 minutes) | Wear of lithium-ion cells | Battery replacement (article: DM-AKKU-V11) |
| The vacuum cleaner doesn't charge. | Oxidation of contacts or faulty charging station | Cleaning contacts, checking the power supply |
| Unintentional shutdowns | Poor plume contact or controller failure | Reconnect the plume, reset the settings |
Step 3: Cleaning the fan and ducts โ eliminating power loss
If the Dreame V11 is getting worse at sucking up garbage or making whistling noises, the problem is that the fan or duct clogs.
- Remove the plastic cover of the engine compartment (attached to 2 latches).
- Remove the fan (turbine) - it is fixed with 1 screw and a plastic fixator.
- Remove the wound hair and dust from the blades with plastic tweezers or a toothpick.
- Blow the ducts with compressed air (or a dryer in cold jet mode).
Pay special attention to the mesh at the fan entrance, which is often clogged with small debris. If the mesh is deformed, it is better to replace it (Article: DM-FILTER-V11). After cleaning, check the rotation of the turbine manually - it should be smooth, without jamming.
๐ก
If the fan is still making noise after cleaning, apply 1 drop of silicone lubricant to the turbine axis. Don't use hydrocarbon-based oils - they erode plastic!
Step 4: Diagnostics and Replacement of Side Brushes
Dreame V11 side brushes are consumables that wear out in 6-12 months of active use.
- ๐ The brush does not rotate or rotates in jerks.
- ๐ Foreign squeaking or knocking while working
- ๐งน Poor cleaning along walls and corners
To take them off:
- Press the brush locker (located on the side) and pull it on yourself.
- Clean the axis of wound hair and dust.
- Check the gear drive - if the teeth are erased, replace the module entirely (Article: DM-BRUSH-V11-L/R for left/right brush).
When you install new brushes, make sure they sit tightly on the axle and the lock is snapped. You can check manually: turn on the vacuum cleaner and put it on your side - the brushes should rotate synchronously.
Step 5: Sensor Checking and Error Resetting
The Dreame V11 has multiple sensors, like a gyroscope, a collision sensor, and infrared sensors, and if the vacuum cleaner is chaotic or ignoring obstacles, it could be the problem.
- Check the transparency of the IR sensors (they should be clean, without scratches).
- Make sure the gyro is not offset โ it is attached to the board on bilateral tape.
- Check the sensor plumes for damage.
If errors persist, reset the settings:
- Press the Spot Clean and Home buttons for 5 seconds.
- Wait for the sound signal (2 short squeaks).
- Connect the vacuum cleaner to the Mi Home again.
๐ก
Once discharged, the vacuum cleaner will lose the stored map of the room, and you will have to reconfigure the cleaning areas and virtual walls in the application.
Reverse Assembly and Testing
Collect the vacuum cleaner in reverse sequence, following the photos taken earlier.
- ๐ Correctly connect the plumes (they should be snapped with a slight click).
- ๐ Tight fit of cover - if there are gaps left, check all latches.
- ๐ถ Wi-Fi antenna โ it should not be clamped or bent.
After assembly, conduct a test:
- Put the vacuum cleaner on the charging station - the blue indicator should light up.
- Start cleaning with the Clean button.
- Check the rotation of the brushes and the suction force (put your hand to the air intake).
โ ๏ธ Warning: If the vacuum cleaner is squeaking or not turning on after assembly, immediately turn it off and check: Proper battery connection (overwhelming will disable the board!) No screws or tools left behind.
