However, even the most advanced model (Xiaomi 70Mai Pro, MiVUE J79 or DashiCam A300) is useless if it is not properly fixed: vibrations on the bumps, mounting deck in the cold or, worse, falling on a torpedo while driving. In this article, we will examine all the stages of installation, from selecting glue to testing the reliability of fixation, and also tell you how to remove the recorder without traces if you need to transfer to another car.

The problem is that the glass is not the perfect surface: it can be tinted, heated or coated with an anti-reflective layer. In addition, not all adhesives can withstand temperature changes from -30 ° C to +60 ° C, typical for Russian regions. We tested 5 types of mounts (including the original from Xiaomi) and found the optimal solutions for different conditions. Using 3M VHB double-sided tape instead of standard mounting increases the reliability of fixation by 3 times at extreme temperatures.

3. Step-by-step instructions: how to glue the Xiaomi registrar

Consider the process on the example of Xiaomi 70Mai Pro with mounting on 3M VHB. For other models (MiVUE J79, DashiCam A100) the steps are similar, but the location of the connectors may differ.

1. Remove the protective film with the adhesive side of the attachment. If you use 3M tape, cut out a piece size 3×3 cm (no more is needed, this will increase the risk of detachment).
2. Apply the mount to the glass in the selected place (we recommend behind the rear-view mirror, so as not to obstruct the view). Press for 30 seconds with a force of 2-3 kg.
3. Hold the recorder on the holder and connect the power, and make sure that the cable is not stretched, which puts additional strain on the glue.

Even experienced motorists make mistakes when mounting the recorders.
