Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus
hull-shoot
In this article, weβll take a look at how to safely open the Redmi 5 Plus at home, what tools youβll need, and what to look for to keep your warranty up (if itβs still in place), and the hidden design traps that even experienced craftsmen often overlook.
β οΈ Important: If your phone is still warranty, self-disassembly will automatically cancel it. Check the warranty status in the Mi Service app or on Xiaomi's website before starting work.
Preparation for analysis: tools and conditions
Before you start, make sure you have everything you need, and the wrong tools are the main cause of damage to the body and internal components, and here's the minimum kit you'll need:
- π¦ Container for screws - so as not to lose small parts (in Redmi 5 Plus there are 11 pieces!).
Also prepare the workplace:
- Cover the table with a soft cloth or rubber mat to avoid scratching the screen.
- Make sure there is no dust in the room β it can get inside the enclosure.
- Turn off the phone and remove it. SIM-card and memory card (if installed).
- Charge the battery by 30-50% β this will prevent it from suddenly turning off in case of accidental circuit.
β οΈ Warning: Don't use a knife or other sharp objects to jack the lid! in the Redmi 5 Plus, the fingerprint plume runs close to the edge of the case - it's easy to damage.
Step 1: Heating the body β why is it necessary?
The back cover of Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is glued around the perimeter with double-sided tape. If you try to open it "cold", the glue will not lag evenly, and you risk:
- π¨ Break the plumes (especially the flexible battery cable).
- π₯ Cracking the body in the places of attachment of antennas.
- π Damage the battery - it is glued to the cover.
The correct heating algorithm:
- Turn on the dryer at average power (temperature not higher than 80 Β° C - at 90 Β° C you can melt plastic!).
- Heat the body around the perimeter, paying special attention to the corners - there is the glue most.
- Keep the hair dryer 5-7 cm away from the phone and move it constantly so as not to overheat one point.
- It should take 2-3 minutes to heat up. If the lid doesn't lend itself, repeat the procedure.
π‘
If you don't have a hair dryer, you can use hot water, pour it into a plastic bag, wrap it with a towel, and apply it to the body for 1-2 minutes, which is less effective, but it's a last resort.
β οΈ Warning: Don't heat up the screen! - Redmi 5 Plus matrix sensitive to high temperatures - may show "burned out" pixel or spots on display.
Step 2: Rear cover separation β technique and errors
After heating, proceed to the tidy separation of the lid. Here is the step-by-step instruction:
Start at the bottom edge (near the USB-C connector)|
Insert a plastic mediator into the slot and slowly lead along the case |
Don't push hard - if the lid doesn't lend itself, heat it again |
Raise the cover by 1-2 mm, move to the next corner |
Do not tear the lid off completely until you have separated all the latches.|-->
Typical errors of newcomers:
- π« Too much pressure β leads to cracks near the volume buttons.
- π« Using metal tools β scratches antenna lines.
- π« Attempting to remove the lid from one corner - the glue may break unevenly, and the lid will "bittenΒ».
If the lid is detached but resists in some places, don't pull it by force. Go back to heating the problem areas. Redmi 5 Plus has particularly stubborn areas, near the camera and the top speaker.
What to do if the lid is cracked?
Step 3: Unscrew the screws and remove the metal plate
After the lid is removed, you will see:
- π Battery (stick to the lid).
- π οΈ 11 screws of different sizes (do not confuse them when assembled!).
- πΆ Metal plate covering the motherboard.
Procedure:
- Carefully disconnect the battery plume (it is under a black insulation tape) and use a plastic spatula to keep the contacts from closing.
- Unscrew all the screws with a T3 (long) and T5 (short) screwdriver, remember the location of each screw, and when you assemble them, they should fall into place!
- Take the metal plate off. It can stick to the heat paste -- don't pull it, but gently sway it from side to side.
β οΈ Attention: The screws near the charging socket and the speaker are shorter than the others, and if you screw a long screw into these holes, you can damage the motherboard!
| Type of screw | Size | Number of | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| T3 (long) | 3.5 mm | 6 | At the corners of the plate |
| T3 (short) | 2.5 mm | 3 | Along the battery. |
| T5 (with puck) | 2.0 mm | 2 | Next to the USB-C connector |
Step 4: Disconnecting plumes and removing components
Once you remove the metal plate, you'll have access to the insides of the phone, and the rule here is to unplug the plumes in the right order so that you don't damage the connectors.
- The display plume (the widest, located at the top).
- Touch screen plume (thin, next to the display).
- The camera plume (a small black connector).
- Antenna cables (greatly pull the plastic tongues).
Use plastic tweezers or a mediator to extract the plumes. Don't pull the wires, just the connectors! In Redmi 5 Plus, the connectors are fragile and often break when handled carelessly.
π‘
If you're disassembling a battery replacement phone, you can stop at this point. Disconnect the battery plume and remove it with a plastic blade. The new battery pack (article: MB11004) is set in reverse order.
If you need to get to the motherboard (for example, to replace a microphone or speaker), continue:
- Unscrew the 4 T3 screws holding the board.
- Carefully raise the fee with the mediator, starting at the top edge.
- Donβt pull the board by force β there are plumes of the Volume and Power buttons below it!
Building a phone: how to avoid mistakes
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is a process no less important than the analysis.
- π Check all the plumes before final assembly. They should sit tightly in the connectors.
- π The battery should lie flat, without skewing. If it walks, replace the duct tape.
- π© Screw the screws cross-cross so that the plate sits evenly.
- πΆ Antenna cables shall not bend or touch metal parts.
Typical problems after assembly and their solution:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Phone's off. | Not connected battery plume or display | Disassemble and check all connectors |
| Touchscreen's not working. | Sensor plume is damaged or not fully inserted | Reconnect the plume, if necessary, replace |
| No network or Wi-Fi | Antenna cables disconnected | Check the density of the cables to the board |
| Volume buttons are not working | The button plume is clamped or torn | Replace the sleeve carefully, if necessary, replace it. |
β οΈ Warning: After assembly, turn on the phone and check all functions until the lid is finally sealed. If something doesn't work, disassemble the phone again, or you'll have to repeat the heating and risk the plumes.
