The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is one of the brand’s most popular smartphones, but even its owners sometimes face unexpected challenges, including the standard Mi Health app that tracks steps, sleep and heart rate, where it disappeared? In this article, we’ll look at all the possible locations, hidden settings and reasons for its disappearance, from banal removal to regional restrictions.
If you bought a phone with Russified firmware or upgraded it to the latest version of MIUI 14, the search algorithm may be different. We analyzed all the current versions of the software (including global and Chinese) and collected proven methods, from obvious to little-known.
Important: on the Redmi Note 8 Pro (begonia model), Mi Health can be called differently depending on the region – “Health”, “Mi Fit” or even “SHealth” (on some custom firmware), but the functionality remains the same: synchronization with the Mi Band, activity monitoring and medical metrics.
1. Standard Location: Where Should the Health App Be?
In most cases, the app icon is in one of three places:
- 📱 The main screen -- look for a green icon with a heart or a heart chart, often hidden in the Google folder or the Tools».
- 🔍 Search the system – swipe down the home screen and type in the search bar “Health” or “Health».
- 📂 All Apps menus – swipe up from the bottom of the screen and scroll through the list to the Health and Fitness section».
If you don’t find it in these places, check Settings → Apps → Application Management and type in the search box “Health.” Sometimes the app is installed but hidden from the user (for example, on firmware for the European market).
On Chinese firmware (CN ROM), the app can be called “” (Xiaomi Sport) and require registration in Mi Account for full operation. If you have this version, go to Settings → Accounts → Xiaomi and log in.
2.Why the Health app isn't on the menu: 5 possible reasons
The absence of an icon does not always mean that the application is removed, but the most common reasons are:
| Reason. | How to check | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Hidden by the manufacturer | Check the settings → Applications → Hidden | Click "Show" next to "Mi Health" |
| Removed during MIUI update | Go to the Mi App Store and find “Mi Health” | Install it again (free of charge) |
| Regional restrictions | Check out the version of the firmware in Settings → About the phone | Change the region to “India” or “China” |
| Disconnected by the device administrator | Check the settings → Accounts → Administrators | Remove the tick with "Device Management" |
| The conflict with Google Fit | Open Google Fit and check sync. | Turn off autosynchronization in Google settings |
Especially often, the problem arises after upgrading to MIUI 13/14, when Xiaomi optimizes pre-installed applications, for example, in European firmware Mi Health can be replaced by Google Fit as a more “user-friendly” service.
⚠️ Note: If you bought the Redmi Note 8 Pro from hand, the previous owner could have uninstalled the app through the app. ADB Or root access, and in that case, you can only restore it by flashing it.
3. How to turn on the Health app if it is hidden
If the app is installed but not displayed, follow the following steps:
Open Settings → Applications → Application Management
Click on the three dots in the top right corner and select "Show all apps"
In the search box, type “Health” or “Health”
Click on the app found and select “Show”
Reboot the phone.-->
If there is no “Show” option, try an alternative method:
- Install a file manager (e.g., Mi File Explorer).
- Go to /system/priv-app/MiHealth or /system/app/MiHealth.
- Check if there's a MiHealth.apk file on it. If so, the app is disabled.
- Use ADB (for power users) and type the command: adb shell pm enable com.mi.health
The MediaTek Helio G90T-based Redmi Note 8 Pro sometimes conflicts with fitness apps due to optimizing power consumption. If the app doesn't start after turning on, add it to the battery exceptions:
- 🔋 Go to Settings. → Battery and productivity → Battery consumption management.
- 🔍 Find “Mi Health” in the list and select “No Limitations».
- 🔄 Reboot the phone.
💡
If the application still does not appear, try resetting the launcher settings: pinch the empty space on the home screen → “Startcher settings” → “Reset settings”.
4. Alternatives to the standard Health Appendix
If Mi Health has not been restored, consider alternatives:
| Annex | Compatibility with Mi Band | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fit | Yes (via Mi Fit) | Integration with Google services, but fewer features for Xiaomi devices |
| Mi Fit | Yes (official) | Full support for Mi Band, but requires registration in Mi Account |
| Zepp Life (formerly Amazfit) | Partially. | More sleep analytics, but may not recognize some Redmi Note 8 Pro sensors |
| S Health (Samsung) | No. | Good for Samsung devices, but Xiaomi is failing |
For owners of the Mi Band 4/5/6, the best choice is the Mi Fit, as it fully syncs with the bracelet and uses smartphone sensors (for example, the barometer in the Redmi Note 8 Pro for measuring height).
⚠️ Note: When using Google Fit, the Redmi Note 8 Pro step sensor data may be duplicated or reset. To avoid this, turn off autosynchronization in your Google account settings.
5. How to reinstall the Health app if it is removed
If the application has been removed (for example, via ADB or root), you can restore it in two ways:
Method 1: Installation via Mi App Store
- Open the Mi App Store (yellow package icon).
- In the search, type “Mi Health” or “Health”.
- Click "Install" (the application is free).
- After installation, restart the phone.
Method 2: Hand-mounted APK
If the app is not available in the store in your region:
- Download the latest version of the Mi Health APK from a trusted source (e.g. APKCombo).
- Allow installation from unknown sources: Settings → Applications → Special Permissions → Installation of unknown applications.
- Install the downloaded file and confirm the permissions.
What to do if there is an error "Application not installed"
6.Set up the Health app after installation
After the first Mi Health run, you will need a basic setup:
- 📋 User Profile – Specify height, weight, age and gender for accurate calorie calculations.
- 🔗 Sync with Mi Band – bring the bracelet to the phone and confirm the pairing.
- 📊 Permissions – provide access to: Geolocation (for route tracking); Motion Sensors (stepmeter); Notifications (for activity reminders).
- ⚡ Battery Optimization – Add the app to exceptions, otherwise it will be closed by the background process.
For accurate sleep tracking on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, it is recommended to:
- Turn off the "Do Not Disturb" mode during sleep.
- Put the phone next to the pillow (motion sensors detect coups).
- Enable the option “Smart alarm” in the application settings.
💡
If the app doesn't count steps after setting up, check if the motion sensor is on in Settings → Additional → Sensors. On some firmware, it's turned off by default to save charge.
7. Solving common problems with the Health app
Redmi Note 8 Pro users often face the following errors:
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| He doesn't count steps. | Motion sensor disabled or conflict with another fitness app | Check Settings → Additional → Sensors and disable other trackers |
| Not synchronized with the Mi Band | Outdated firmware bracelet or phone | Update Mi Fit and bracelet firmware through the app |
| Flying out at opening | Damaged cache files | Clean the cache in Settings → Applications → Mi Health → Storage |
| He's not showing a pulse. | There is no heart rate sensor in the phone (only in Pro versions) | Use the Mi Band to measure your pulse |
If the Health app* stopped working after the MIUI update, try:
- Clear the application data (carefully – this will delete all stored data!).
- Reverse to the previous version via the Mi App Store (if available).
- Install Mi Fit as an alternative.
💡
To reset statistics without losing data, export the history to Settings → Export data before clearing the cache.
