You open Google Play, and instead of the usual interface, you see an endless download or an error called "No Internet connection" — even though Wi-Fi is stable, or Gmail refuses to sync emails, and YouTube sends out a message: "Google Play Services are not available." If your Xiaomi smartphone (or Redmi/POCO) suddenly stopped interacting correctly with the Google ecosystem, the reasons may lie in software failures and in the features of the device's firmware.
The problem is especially relevant for owners of devices purchased in China or stitched with custom builds. But even on global versions of Miui, Google services sometimes “fall” after updates or resets. In this article, we will discuss 7 main reasons why Google services may not work on Xiaomi, and give step-by-step instructions for their recovery, from checking the availability of Google Mobile Services (GMS) to manually reinstalling packages through ADB.
Important: Some solutions require superuser rights or unlock the bootloader. If you're not ready for this kind of manipulation, focus on the soft techniques in the first three sections.
1. no Google Mobile Services (GMS) on the device
The most common reason for Google services to fail on Xiaomi is the lack of Google Mobile Services (GMS), a set of system components that will make apps like Play Market, Gmail or Maps impossible to run without.
- 📦 Chinese versions of smartphones (China) ROM), where GMS Replaced with local analogues (Mi App Store, Baidu Maps, etc.).
- 🔧 Devices with custom firmware (for example, LineageOS or Pixel Experience), where GMS not included by default.
- 🔄 Smartphones after resetting to factory settings, if the firmware was “cut” (for example, through Fastboot without installing) GMS-packet).
How to check for GMS? Open Settings → Applications → Application Management and find in the list:
- Google Play Services (com.google.android.gms)
- Google Play Store (com.android.vending)
- Google Services Framework (com.google.android.gsf)
If at least one of these packages is not available, your device will not have official support for Google services, and you will have to install them manually.
⚠️ Attention: Installation GMS Chinese firmware can lead to unstable work (app crashes, fast battery discharge). MIUI.
2. blocking Google services at the system level
Even if GMSs are installed, they can be blocked by the system, and this happens for three reasons:
- Manufacturer restrictions: Some Xiaomi models (e.g. Redmi Note 10 Pro China) have Google services artificially disabled in build.prop, the system configuration file.
- Politics of the region: In China, Iran or some CIS countries, access to Google is limited at the level of the Internet. DNS or IP-address.
- Conflict with MIUI Optimizations: MIUI optimization sometimes freezes Google’s background processes, leading to synchronization errors.
How to check the lock:
- Open Settings → Memory → Apps and find Google Play Services.
- If there is an “Disabled” icon or an “Enable” button next to the name, the service is blocked.
- Try running the Google Play Store through a VPN (like ProtonVPN or Warp), and if it works, regional restrictions are a problem.
| Sign of lockdown | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Google apps aren’t open, but the internet is working | Blocked in build.prop | Change ro.product.locale to en-US (requires root) |
| Error “No Internet connection” when Wi-Fi is turned on | DNS-filtering | Replace the DNS with 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 |
| Services only work through VPN | Regional restrictions | Install VPN with servers in Europe/USA |

After the shift DNS Google services are working, but after a few hours stopped opening again, add IP-Google addresses in exception of firewall MIUI: Settings → Annexes → Permits → firewall → Exceptions
3. Google account sync failures
If Google Play Services are installed and not blocked, but apps like Gmail or Contacts are not synced, the problem may be:
- 🔄 Outdated authentication token (expires once every 2 weeks).
- 📱 Conflict with Xiaomi account (if you use the same email for Mi Account and Google).
- ⏳ Background activity limitations in battery settings.
How to fix it:
- Delete your Google account through Settings → Accounts → Google and add it again.
- Open Settings → Battery → Power Mode and turn off optimization for Google Play Services.
- Check date and time: if they get lost, sync won't work. Enable Autodetermination in date/time settings.
If sync disappears again after restarting, try resetting the application settings:
Settings → System → Resetting settings → Resetting application settings⚠️ Note: After resetting your app settings, you will have to re-sign in to all accounts (including banking apps) and set up notifications.

4. Conflict with firmware or MIUI update
After the MIUI update (especially in beta or unstable builds), Google services may stop working because of:
- 🔧 Version incompatibility GMS and MIUI. For example, MIUI 14 may conflict with outdated Google packages.
- 📁 Damage to system files during an update (for example, if the process is interrupted).
- 🚫 Reverse to the old version MIUI without data cleaning (leads to configuration conflict).
Decisions:
- Update Google Play Services manually via APK: Download the latest version from APKMirror (choose for your architecture: arm64, armeabi or x86). Install APK through the file manager (allow installation from unknown sources in Settings → Security).
Clear the cache and data
Settings → Applications → Application Management → Google Play Services → Storage → Clear cache / Clear dataReverse to stable firmware
Mi Flash Tool
If all Google apps were gone after the MIUI update, it was likely that China ROM was installed instead of the global one, in which case only a full Fastboot flashing would help.

5. Google Certification Problems (Device ID)
Google may block access to its services if the device is not certified (typical for custom firmware or unofficial devices).
- 🛑 Error “Device not certified” when entering the Play Market.
- 🔒 Inability to download apps marked “Incompatible with your device».
- ⚠️ Warning: “This device may not be secure” in your Google account settings.
How to check the certification:
- Open the Google Verification page and enter the Google Services Framework (GSF) ID of your device.
- GSF ID can be obtained through the Device ID application (see Google Service Framework (GSF)).
Decisions:
- 🔄 Register the device manually: Go to the registration page. GSF ID And you can confirm ownership.

⚠️ Note: Registration of the device through GSF ID If you have a problem after the reboot, repeat the procedure in 24 hours.
💡
If your device is not certified by Google, some apps (such as banking or Netflix) may not work even after registering for a GSF ID.
6. Network or DNS errors
Sometimes Google services don't work because of incorrect network settings, even if the Internet is generally available.
- 🌍 DNS-The provider blocks access to Google domains (relevant to some mobile operators or corporate networks).
- 🔌 VPN or proxy server redirects traffic through nodes where Google is blocked.
- 📡 Router restrictions (such as parental controls or firewalls).
Decisions:
- 🔧 Change. DNS Public: Settings → Wi-Fi → [Your network] → Settings IP → Static → DNS1: 8.8.8.8, DNS2: 8.8.4.4
- 📵 Turn off the firewall. MIUI: Settings → Annexes → Permits → firewall → Shut down.
- 🌐 Use an alternative. DNS (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 or AdGuard 176.103.130.130).
If the problem occurs only in the mobile network, contact the operator - perhaps your tariff has restrictions on access to foreign services.
7. Hardware limitations or damage
In rare cases, Google services are disabled due to physical problems with the device:
- 🔋 Damaged memory (for example, after falling or getting moisture), which is why system files GMS can't load.
- 📶 Faulty module Wi-Fi/4G, which cuts off the connection to Google servers.
- ⚡ Failures in the processor (for example, due to overheating or overclocking), leading to departures of background processes.
