Have you just bought a new Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO smartphone, but can’t find a standard calculator? Or suddenly the familiar icon disappeared after the MIUI update? This problem is familiar to many users – despite its apparent simplicity, finding the basic application sometimes turns into a quest. In this article, we will analyze all possible places where the calculator may be hiding, and also tell you how to return it if it is missing, and what hidden functions it has (spoiler: there are more than you think!).

But don't worry: even if you didn't find a calculator on the menu, it is definitely on the system - you just need to know where to look.
1. Standard Places: Where the Xiaomi Calculator is Usually Located
In most cases, the Calculator app is in one of three places. Check them in order:
- 📱 Main screen or app bar: swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open the menu of all programs. Look for an icon with a calculator (usually gray or green) on some models, it may be called Calc.
- 📂 Tools folder: Xiaomi often groups system utilities into a folder called Tools, Utility or MIUI Tools. Look over there -- the calculator often lies next to the clock, the recorder and the flashlight.
- 🔍 Search System: Swipe your finger down the home screen to open the search bar, and type in "calculator" or "calculator." The system will show the app even if it's hidden.
If you use a POCO Launcher or a third-party shell, the icon can be moved to the App Drawer section, and check the second screen – sometimes the calculator will “lost” there after resetting.
2. Hidden ways to start the calculator (without icons)
Even if the icon is not on the menu, you can run the calculator by alternative methods.
- Through the widget: press and hold your finger in the free seat of the home screen → select “Widgets” → find the calculator widget (usually 2×2 or 4×1) and drag it to the screen.
- Voice assistant: activate Google Assistant or XiaoAI (for China) and say, "Open calculator." This will work even if the app is hidden.
- Quick settings: swipe down from the top edge of the screen twice to open the Quick Settings panel. Some firmware has a Calculator button (if not, you can add it manually through panel editing).
