How to fix a video on Xiaomi: from TVs to smartphones

Fixed video playback is a useful feature when you need to create an atmosphere (background video at a party), test content or just enjoy your favorite video without constantly clicking on “replay.” Xiaomi devices — whether they are Redmi smartphones, Mi TVs or Pad tablets — support this option, but it is not always obvious where to look. In this article, we will analyze all the working methods for different models, including hidden settings and third-party applications.

The thing about Xiaomi is that the interface can be different even for the same generation of devices, depending on the version of the MIUI or PatchWall firmware (for TVs), and we took these nuances into account and collected universal methods that will work on most of the brand's gadgets. If your model does not support the built-in looping function, don't worry: at the end of this article there is a review of the best third-party players with this option.

1. Video looping on Xiaomi TVs (Mi TV, Redmi TV)

Xiaomi's PatchWall TVs (or Google TVs in the newer models) offer several ways to replay. The easiest way is to use an embedded player, but it doesn't work with all formats. If the video doesn't get stuck in.mp4 or.mkv, try converting it to.avi through programs like HandBrake.

To include a replay on Mi TV:

• 📺 Open the video in a standard player (not through YouTube or Netflix).

2. Located on Xiaomi smartphones (MIUI 12–14)

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO have a deeper replay function than TVs. The Gallery's standard app doesn't have one, so you'll have to use MIUI Video Player (pre-installed on all devices) or third-party players. Importantly, some models (like the Redmi Note 10 Pro) may not have MIUI Video Player, which can be installed via GetApps (the official Xiaomi store).

Instructions for MIUI Video Player:

1. Open the video in the app (not through Gallery → Lose, but through a separate Video Player app).
2. Slip on the screen to make the controls appear.
3. Press three points. ⋮ top-right.
4. Select Loop and install One (replay of the current video) or All (replay of the playlist).

If the player does not save the cycle settings after closing, reset its cache: Settings → Applications → Application Management → Video player → Storage → Clear the cache.
