Recording the screen on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones is a seemingly simple task, but many users face unexpected problems: no sound, video lags, and the built-in function only records 3 minutes. Xiaomi devices feature frequent MIUI firmware updates that can change feature locations. We updated the instructions for MIUI 12-14 versions (including global and Chinese builds) and tested them on models from Redmi Note 8 Pro (2019) to Xiaomi 14 Ultra (2026). 1. Built-in screen recording in MIUI: where is located and how to turn on
The most obvious way is to use the built-in Screen Record feature that MIUI has had since version 10, but its layout has changed: in older versions it was in the notification curtain, and in newer versions it was hidden in Settings → Special features.
To quickly find the function:

2. Secret Screen Recording Settings: How to Record Sound from Games and Apps
MIUI has a hidden feature for recording internal audio without root rights, but it only works on Qualcomm (Snapdragon) processor devices.
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings → About Phone and click on MIUI Version 7 times.
- Return to Settings → Additional → For developers and enable USB debugging.
- Connect your phone to your PC and execute the command: adb shell settings put global capture_internal_audio 1
- Reboot the device. Now, the screen recording settings will have the option to capture internal sound.
If this method doesn’t work (for example, on MediaTek), use the workaround:

The Game Turbo feature in MIUI was originally designed to optimize games, but it has a built-in recorder with advanced settings.
- Open any game (such as PUBG Mobile or Genshin Impact).
- Swipe from left to right across the screen to call the Game Turbo panel.
- Click on the Record icon (circle with dot) and select the settings: 🎮 Quality: up to 1080p 60 FPS (flagship-ready). 🔊 Sound: individual sliders for microphone and game. 📱 Show touches: useful for tutorials.
