Why Mi Accounts are not available
Xiaomiβs personal account is not just a formality, but the key to fully using the brandβs technology. Without authorization in Mi Account, you lose data synchronization between devices, access to the Mi Cloud cloud storage, the ability to remotely control a smart home, and even some camera features. For example, on Redmi and POCO smartphones without a tied account, you can not activate unlocking in the face or use Find Device to search for a lost gadget.
Moreover, since 2023, Xiaomi has obliged users to log in to Mi Account to receive official firmware updates on new models (Xiaomi 13/14 series, Redmi Note 12/13). This is due to the companyβs security policy and the fight against illegal distribution of software. Even if you bought a smartphone βwith your handsβ, without linking to the account of the previous owner, its functionality will be severely curtailed.
How to enter the personal account Xiaomi
There are several ways to log in to Mi Account, depending on the type of device and your preferences.

The most versatile option is to log in via the site, which is suitable for all devices, including the Mi Band smartwatch and Xiaomi Router routers. However, if you are logging in for the first time, we recommend using the official application: it offers advanced security settings, such as linking a phone number or backup email.
Step-by-step: entrance via smartphone
If you're using a Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO smartphone, the fastest way to log in is through system settings.

- Click Add Add Account β Mi Account.
- Enter the email or phone number associated with the account, then the password.
- Confirm the entrance with the help SMS-code or push notifications (if two-factor authentication is enabled).

Solving problems with Mi Account login
Even with the right data entry, users often encounter authorization errors.
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong password | Misprint, reset password or account hack | Restore your password via email/SMS or contact for support |
| The device is not supported | Outdated firmware or unofficial MIUI build | Update the software through Settings β About the phone β System update |
| Too many attempts. | Blocking after 5 unsuccessful attempts | Wait 30 minutes or change IP (switch to another network) |
| Account is linked to another region | Buying a device abroad (e.g. Xiaomi EU) | Change the region in your account settings or create a new one |
Pay particular attention to the error: This device is already linked to another account, and it occurs when you buy a used smartphone that was not properly untied by the previous owner.
β οΈ Warning: Do not try to reset the device through Recovery Mode, this will lead to the blocking of Mi Account Lock, and the phone will turn into a βbrick.
Two-factor authentication and security
Since 2022, Xiaomi has been actively implementing two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect your accounts from hacking, if the attacker learns your password, without the second factor (SMS, email code or confirmation in the app, it won't be able to log in. 2FA:
- Go to your personal account on the site or in the application.
- Go to Security Settings β Two-factor authentication.
- Select the confirmation method: SMS, Email or Authenticator (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator).
- Save backup codes (you can use them if the primary method is not available).
Important: if you lose access to the second factor (for example, changed the phone number), the account recovery will take up to 7 days. Xiaomi will require proof of identity through a passport scan and a check for the purchase of the device.
What to do if you lose access to 2FA?
Managing devices in the personal account
One of the key advantages of Mi Account is the centralized management of all Xiaomi gadgets in the ecosystem.
- π± View the list of tied smartphones, tablets and laptops
- π See the last activity of each device
- ποΈ Remove old gadgets (for example, after sale)
- π Synchronize settings between devices (themes, wallpaper, Wi-Fi settings)
- π Use the Find Device feature to find a lost smartphone
To remove your device from your account (e.g. before selling), go to Settings β Mi Account β Device Management, select your gadget and click Delete. Importantly, after that, all data on the device will be erased and access to the Mi Cloud and Find Device features is blocked.
