Owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones often face the need to untie a Google account from the device, whether it involves selling a gadget, transferring it to another user, or simply wanting to change the main email. FRP (Factory Reset Protection) tightly ties the phone to the last Google account you used, and if you just reset it to the factory without leaving Gmail, the phone will require you to enter the password from that account the first time you activate it, which is designed to protect against theft, but creates problems when you sell it legally.

Why it is important to properly detach Google account
Many users underestimate the importance of getting out of Google services correctly. Simply removing an app or clearing a cache doesn't work. Android stores authorization tokens deep in the system section. If you plan to sell a phone, the new owner will encounter a lock screen that requires you to enter your data.

Standard exit procedure through system settings
The most reliable and correct way to unplug Gmail is to use the built-in Android settings menu. The interface may vary slightly depending on the version of MIUI or HyperOS, but the logic remains the same. You will need access to the account management menu.
First, open the Settings app. Find a section that could be called Accounts and Sync, Users and Acca accounts, or just Google in the service list. In newer versions of the shell, the path often looks like Settings → Passwords and Security → Authorization and Protection.

If the delete button is inactive, it is possible that the administrator rights for the corporate account are active on the device and should be revoked in the Security section.
This method is especially useful when you need to quickly switch between profiles or delete temporary emails, and it is less intuitive for completely deleting all data, but great for quickly changing users.
It is worth noting that the Google Play Store app also stores login data. After deleting your account through your settings, it is recommended to go to the Play Store, click on the avatar and make sure that the profile has disappeared from the list or is marked as inactive.
Nuances in MIUI 12, 13, 14 and HyperOS
Xiaomi shells have their own peculiarities. In MIUI 12 and MIUI 13, the path to accounts is often hidden in the depths of the Advanced Settings menu. Users often search for Google accounts in the Mi Account section, which is an error. These are different entities.
