Xiaomi Redmi smartphone owners often face the need to change or delete a Google Play account β whether itβs selling a device, transferring to relatives or simply wanting to switch to another profile. However, standard exit through the settings of the Play Store application does not always work due to the features of MIUI firmware and integration of Google services. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods, including hidden settings, resetting through ADB and bypassing locks in two-factor authentication.
Redmi is a great way to modify Android by adding its own security layers, which means that even after deleting your account through Settings β Accounts, it can remain linked to Google Play and other services. We tested all of these methods on Redmi Note 12/13, Redmi 10/11 and POCO X5 models with the latest versions of MIUI 14/15, ensuring that each method works.
Why canβt you log out of your account in the standard way?
The main problem lies in the MIUI architecture: the system uses dual-linking accounts to the device itself and to Google services. When you try to log in through the Play Store β Profile β Account Management, only the surface binding is removed, and the data remains in:
- π± MI-Account (managed through Settings) β Xiaomi account)
- π Google Services Framework (Android system component)
- π§ Synchronize contacts/calendars (even after leaving profile)
In addition, Redmi with MIUI 12+ has a lock on the deletion of the last Google account, which requires binding at least one profile to operate services, which is protection against theft, but creates difficulties when selling a phone.
β οΈ Note: If you sell or transfer a phone, it is not enough to just log out of your account. β The phone. β Reset your settings, otherwise the new owner will be able to recover your data via Find My Device.
Method 1: Standard exit through the Play Store settings
This method works if the phone doesn't have two-factor authentication enabled and you're not the last user on the system.
- Open the Play Store app.
- Slip on the profile avatar in the upper right corner.
- Select Manage Google Accounts.
- Click on three dots next to the desired account β Delete the account.
If the Delete Account button is inactive or absent, it means:
- π The account is the only one on the device (you need to add a second account).
- π Two-factor authentication enabled (you need a password from the mail).
- π± The device is tied to MI-account (you need to untie in Settings) β Xiaomi account).
Add a second Google account (temporary)
Turn off two-factor authentication in Google settings
Delete all Play Store app data (Settings β Apps β Play Store β Storage β Clear Data)
Check that the phone is not in Find My Device mode (can block the output)
-->
Method 2: Remove via Android settings (bypass) MIUI)
If MIUI blocks the exit through the Play Store, use the system settings:
- Go to Settings β Accounts and Synchronization.
- Pick Google.
- Tap the right account. β Delete the account.
- Confirm the action with a password or fingerprint.
On some Redmi models (such as the Note 10 Pro), this path may be different:
Settings β PaSSWORD & SECURITY β Privacy β Special app access β Accountsβ οΈ Note: After deleting your account through settings, all application data associated with it (save games, contacts, mail) will be erased from the device. β Additionally. β Backup and reset.
Through the Play Market
Through Android settings
With ADB
Reset to factory settings
Nothing helped.-->
Method 3: Using ADB for forced removal (for experienced)
If standard methods don't work, Android Debug Bridge (ADB), a debugging tool, will help, requiring a computer and a developer mode on.
Preparation:
- Turn on Developer Mode: Go to Settings β About Phone and tap the MIUI version 7 times.
- Activate Debugging by USB in Settings β Additional β For developers.
- Connect your phone to your PC and install Xiaomi drivers (download from the official website).
Instructions for ADB:
adb shell pm list packages | grep "google"
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.gms/.settings.GoogleSettingsActivity
adb shell pm clear com.android.vending
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.gmsOnce you have completed the commands, restart your phone. Your account will be deleted, but Google services may fail (e.g., the Play Store will stop updating), and to restore functionality, just add your account again.
What if the ADB canβt see the device?
Method 4: Reset via Safe Mode (if the account is blocked)
If you forget your account password or your phone is locked after unsuccessful login attempts, use Safe Mode, a mode that disables all third-party apps, including MIUI locks.
How to start:
- Press the power button before the off menu appears.
- Press and hold the power off (or Reboot on some models).
- Confirm the transition to Safe Mode (the inscription will appear at the bottom of the screen).
In this mode:
- π Hidden account settings will be available.
- π΅ Restrictions will be off. MIUI profile-deletion.
- β οΈ Applications (including Play Store) will not work, but system settings will remain active.
Once you delete your account, restart your phone as normal. If Safe Mode doesn't work, then only Hard Reset remains (see next section).
Method 5: Hard Reset β a last resort
If none of these methods worked, reset to factory settings, which will delete all data, including accounts, apps and files. Redmi offers two options for resetting:
| Method | How to execute | Removing. MI-account? | Do you need a password? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Through settings | Settings β About the phone β Reset settings β Erase all data | β No. | β Yes (if protection is on) |
| Through Recovery. | Clutch power. + Loudness up β Wipe Data | β Yes. | β No (but may require a Mi Account after resetting) |
| Through Fastboot. | Fastboot erase userdata (PC needed) | β Yes. | β No. |
Important: After resetting via Recovery or Fastboot, the phone may require data entry MI-If you do not remember the username / password, use the restoration of the Xiaomi account.
