The effectiveness of the method depends on whether the automatic backup was turned on before the data was lost. If you used standard phone features, the probability of a full return of the contact list is close to one hundred percent.

Checking the basket and archive in the Contacts app
The first place to look when a missing person is found is the built-in Recycle Bin in the standard Contacts app. Starting with certain versions of MIUI, developers have implemented a delayed deletion feature that saves records for 30 days before final erasure, a buffer zone that makes it easy to fix a user error without the need for complex manipulation.
To get into this section, you need to open the Contacts app and go to the settings tab, which is usually indicated by three dots or a gear, and you should find the Recycle Bin or Recently Deleted on the menu, and if you see your numbers there, they can be easily restored by highlighting the desired entries and selecting the appropriate command.
But you have to consider that the bin is limited, and if you delete a lot of records or it's been more than a month, it might not work, and in those cases, the system could automatically clear the temporary storage to free up resources.
⚠️ Note: The storage period of remote contacts in the Xiaomi shopping cart is exactly 30 days. After this period, the data is deleted irrevocably, and it will not be possible to restore them through the standard menu.

If you don’t see the Recycle Bin, try updating the Contacts and Phone app through the GetApps store or Google Play, as this feature may not be available in older versions.
Sometimes users confuse complete deletion with archiving. Check the Archive section in the contact settings if it's available in your firmware version. Records from there are returned to the general list by simply moving.
Recovery through Mi Cloud Service
The most reliable and regular way for owners of Xiaomi smartphones is to use the branded Mi Cloud. If your device has activated Mi Account and enabled contact synchronization, then all changes in the phone book are automatically reflected on the server, which allows you to recover data even after a complete change of device or reset to factory settings.
To get started, you need to go to the official i.mi.com website from your computer or other smartphone. Sign in using the same Mi Account that was entered on your phone. Once logged in, find the Contact icon in the cloud app menu.

You can check for a backup by going to contacts.google.com. Sign in with the same Google account used on Xiaomi. On the left menu, find the Settings (cogs) section and select Cancel Changes.
The system will suggest you choose a time frame: 10 minutes ago, 1 hour, yesterday or (in due time), select the date when the contacts were clearly available, and after confirmation, Google will return the phone book to the state at the selected time.
On the smartphone itself, the sync process can take some time. Make sure that the Google account settings (Settings -> Accounts and Sync) ticks the other side of the Contact box. If the tick is already ticked, try unchecking it and resetting it to force the update to run.

Local Recovery from MIUI Backup
The MIUI shell has a powerful built-in tool for creating local backups, and if you back up your system periodically or just your settings and data, your contacts could be saved in the device's internal memory or on the SD card.
Backup files are usually stored via MIUI -> backup -> AllBackup. To recover data, go to Settings -> About -> Advanced Settings -> Restore from backup (the path may vary slightly depending on the HyperOS version).
In the list that opens, select the right backup file by the date of creation. The system will warn you that the current data will be overwritten. Make sure you choose the right file, as this process will be more difficult to undo than cloud recovery.

Extracting contacts with SIM-map
