Why you may need to access Mi Cloud from your computer
Xiaomi Cloud (or Mi Cloud) is originally designed for mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and smartwatches, but many users face the need to access files, contacts or backups from a personal computer, for reasons ranging from losing their phone to the trivial convenience of working with a large screen.
Xiaomi has made it easier to sign in through the web since 2023, but many still face authorization errors, especially if they have not previously used two-factor authentication (2FA) or linked an account to a phone number in another region. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to log in to the Mi Cloud from a PC for 2026, including bypassing typical locks and restoring access.
It is important to understand that the functionality of the web version of the cloud is limited compared to a mobile application. For example, you can not control Mi Home smart devices through the browser or configure synchronization of notes, but you can also access photos/video, contacts, notes and backups, which are the data most often required by users.
Method 1: Sign in via the official Mi Cloud website
The simplest and most versatile method is the use of the browser version of the service, suitable for all countries, including Russia, with some reservations (more on this below).
Algorithm of action:
- π Open your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and go to i.mi.com β the official Mi Cloud portal.
- π± Enter an email or phone number linked to a Xiaomi account. It is important for Russian users that if an account was created through a number, it must be in the format +7xxxxxxxxxx (without spaces and brackets).
- π Enter a password. If two-factor authentication is enabled, the system will request a code from SMS Mi Authenticator applications.
- π‘οΈ When you first sign in from a new device, you may need to confirm via email or a tied smartphone.
If the error βThis account is not supported in your regionβ appears after entering the data, it means that your profile is linked to another server (for example, a Chinese or global one), the solution is to change the account region through the Mi Account mobile application (instructions in the next section).
Method 2: Use the Mi PC Suite for full access
The official Mi PC Suite software provides enhanced features compared to the web version, including backup management, firmware updates and multimedia synchronization. The program is available for Windows (7/10/11) and macOS (10.14 and above).
Step-by-step:
- Download Mi PC Suite from the official website pcsuite.mi.com. Please note: for Russia, a global version (not Chinese!).
- Install the program by following the installation wizard. If you get a driver warning, allow them to be installed.
- Launch the Mi PC Suite and connect the Xiaomi smartphone over USB (data mode should be enabled!).
- In the top menu of the program, select the Mi Cloud tab and log in under your account.
Through Mi PC Suite you can not only view files, but also:
- π Create/restore backups of your phone.
- π Synchronize contacts, SMS and cloud call log.
- π± Install applications directly to a connected smartphone.
βοΈ Preparation for work with Mi PC Suite
β οΈ Note: If the program gives an error when connecting the phone "Device is not recognized", check:
- Is USB Debugging enabled in the developer settings (Settings β About Phone β MIUI version β tap 7 times, then go back to Additional Settings β For Developers).
- Are Xiaomi drivers installed (you can download separately from MIUI Downloads)?
Solving Authorization and Region Problems
One of the most common mistakes when you log into Mi Cloud from a PC is region locking, which occurs when you created an account in one region (e.g. China) and logged in from another (Russia, Europe), and the system automatically redirects to a local server that may not support your account type.
How to change the region of your account:
- On the Xiaomi smartphone, open Settings β Xiaomi Account.
- Select your account settings β Country/region.
- Choose the region you want (e.g. Russia or Global).
- Confirm the change via SMS or email.
If the region change option is not available (grey), this means that:
- π΅ The account is linked to a Chinese server (Mi Account) CN) The solution is to create a new global account.
- β³ Less than 30 days have passed since the last change of the region (limitation of Xiaomi).
What to do if your account is linked to China?
Another common problem is two-factor authentication (2FA). If you lose access to your tied phone number or Mi Authenticator app, you can only restore your account through Xiaomi support:
- Go to the recovery page.
- Select Can't get the code and follow the instructions.
- Confirm your identity by providing scans of documents (passport, purchase check of Xiaomi device).

If you travel frequently or use VPN, Before entering the Mi Cloud, turn off VPN and clear the browser cache. Xiaomi services can block suspicious IP-addresses, especially if they are from another region.
Alternative ways to access Mi Cloud files
If standard methods don't work, we can use workarounds. Let's look at two proven options.
1. Through the Files app on Android
If you have any Android smartphone (not necessarily Xiaomi), you can temporarily connect your Mi Cloud account and download files:
- Install the Mi Cloud app from Google Play.
- Log in to your account.
- Select files to download and save them to your phoneβs local memory.
- Connect your phone to your PC and transfer the files.
2. via the Xiaomi API (for advanced users)
For tech-savvy users, you can use the Mi Cloud API, which allows you to download files directly, bypassing the web interface.
- π§ Utility curl or Postman to send requests.
- π Authorization Token (can be obtained through Mi Account Token Extractor β Android app).
- π Knowledge of structure API (Unofficial documentation, but available on GitHub).
Example of request to obtain a list of files:
curl -X GET"https://api.account.xiaomi.com/v1/data/file/list" \
-H"Authorization: Bearer YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
-H"User-Agent: XiaomiCloudAndroid/1.0"β οΈ Note: Using unofficial access methods may violate Xiaomiβs user agreement. We do not recommend this method for inexperienced users, as it requires working with tokens and can lead to account blocking if used incorrectly.
Comparison of ways to log into Mi Cloud from PC
To choose the best method, compare all options on key parameters:
| Method | Convenience | Functionality | Support to regions | Skills required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Web version (i.mi.com) | βββββ | Limited (photos, contacts, notes) | Depends on the region of the account | Basic |
| Mi PC Suite | ββββ | Extended (backups, device management) | Global/Russia | Medium (driver installation) |
| Mobile app + PC | βββ | Full (all files) | Anybody. | Basic |
| API Xiaomi | ββ | Complete (for developers) | Anybody. | Advanced (working with tokens) |

For most users, the best solution is a combination of the web version (for viewing files) and Mi PC Suite (for backups and device management).
Security when working with Mi Cloud on PC
Xiaomiβs cloud storage contains sensitive data β photos, contacts, messages β and itβs important to take precautions when accessing from a computer:
- π Use a personal computer or trusted device. Avoid logging into Mi Cloud from public PCs (Internet cafes, libraries).
- π‘οΈ Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) Even if the password is compromised, the attacker will not be able to log in without the confirmation code.
- π Regularly update your password (every 3-6 months) and use complex combinations with characters and numbers.
- π« Don't save passwords in your browser. Use password managers (KeePass, Bitwarden).
If you notice suspicious activity on your account (unknown devices in login history, changes in your profile), immediately:
- Go to Account Settings β Security.
- Click Complete all sessions.
- Change your password.
- Check the email and phone numbers associated.
β οΈ Note: If you sell or transfer your Xiaomi smartphone, be sure to:
- Delete your Mi Account in your phone settings (Settings β Xiaomi Account β Delete your account).
- Make a reset to factory settings (Settings β Additional β Restore and Reset).
- Delete all backups to Mi Cloud if they contain personal data.

For additional protection, enable notifications about new logins to your account. This can be done in the Mi Account security settings: Settings β Xiaomi Account β Security β Sign-in notifications.
