Have you downloaded a new app to your Xiaomi but don't know how to run it? Or did your favorite program disappear from your desktop after the MIUI update? This situation is familiar to many users of Redmi, POCO or Mi smartphones. Unlike pure Android, MIUI firmware has its own application management features, from hidden folders to background restrictions.

1. Basic method: Launch through the application menu

- Update the program through Google Play or Mi App Store.
2. Creating a shortcut on the desktop
To avoid searching for the app every time you go on the menu, add it to the main screen:
- Open the menu of all applications (swipe up from the dock panel).
- Find the program and hold its icon for 1-2 seconds.
- Drag it to a free desktop space or folder.
If the shortcut has disappeared after the MIUI update, restore it:

Why do shortcuts disappear after MIUI update?
On the POCO F5 and Redmi Note 12 models with MIUI 15, shortcuts may be hidden because of the Smart Organization feature. To turn it off, go to Settings β Desktop β Smart Organization β Off.
3. Launching through voice assistant
If you have Google Assistant enabled or XiaoAI (the built-in Xiaomi assistant), you can open apps with your voice:

If the voice assistant does not recognize the application:

- Retrain the voice model: In the XiaoAI settings, select "Voice Learning."
If the application is hidden by the system (for example, after using the "Second Space" function), return it:
